In social media, sharing means reposting the content of others (always with a clear link back to them!) or recommending others to your followers. It's no secret that one of the keys to success in building a good following on social media is good sharing skills.

"Today Facebook begins rolling out file sharing to all Groups, and while it's got many restrictions, it could be good enough to limit the long-term growth potential of cloud storage / file sharing services like Dropbox, iCloud, and Google Drive."

Our industry is afflicted with shiny object syndrome, a focus on the new tools, without thinking about the content that will drive it. As we mature and the tools make it easier to share information, companies need to be extra sensitive to the content that will be shared, both that's created by the brand, and the customer.

A Kickstarter project that launched this week wants to put a mic on your wrist, for constant audio monitoring, in a twist on the wearable tech and quantified self movement. The Kapture, as it's called, pairs with an iOS and Android smartphone app that allows for quick sharing of audio clips recorded by the hardware wristband, which is constantly recording audio to a 60 second, recycling buffer.

For the last two weeks, I've been engaged in a very interesting experiment. Five faculty members from the Fashion and Apparel department have agreed to explore social media for personal productivity, professional development, curriculum redesign, and program promotion.

I also think your presentation to FASH 325 would be good to give to students earlier in their UD career. I was thinking about FASH 210, a course on FASH sustainability and business ethics in the Fashion Industry. These sessions will make us more sustainable!

Thanks Martha. I think you're right that students need to be exposed earlier to this, but I also think that we could chunk the session up in little parts, where I wouldn't necessarily need to be directly involved.

Who knew there was such a large, mainstream market for artfully arranged pictures of other people's stuff? Or that "curation," that rarefied and highly specialized skill, would all of a sudden go viral?

This is great especially since I am thinking about starting to blog later this summer. I was wondering about the idea of leaving room for others though... Does that mean don't share all the ideas/a definitive answer, or something related to the actual length of the blog (like ith the need ton leave space on a tweet for retweet purposes)! Also optimizing for google searches really just means inserting the key terminology, correct?
