Pro Tools is a professional level digital audio workstation. It is used in many professional recording studios and music production facilities. Pro Tools is often praised for its near-limitless capabilities, but its high cost and memory and processing requirements may make it difficult to use for teachers or hobbyists with lesser computer systems. Avid offers different versions of the software that ranges from the free, limited capability Pro Tools "First" to the full-featured Pro Tools Ultimate, which is designed for professional recording and processing. The free version, Pro Tools First is an excellent way for new users to try out professional DAW software without making a large financial commitment.

The Recording Revolution blog and joint YouTube account, are great resources for teachers who are introducing the concept of mixing to students. The blogs cover a wide range of FAQ from beginners and feature videos that use Pro Tools as the DAW, but can be applied to any DAW that has comparable plugins and effects.

Blog for home studio recording by Graham Cochrane. Graham provides excellent posts as well as videos on music production, engineering, recording, and mixing that are geared to home studio enthusiasts but would be a great resource for high school music technology courses as well.

The Choir Ninja podcast is an excellent resource for choir directors of all types! Ryan Guth provides insight and advice on how to handle common issues that arise when directing choirs. Several prominent members of the Choral Director community have also made guest appearances on this program, and provide their own insight.

These TED Talks focused on Education are an excellent resource for any educator, including Music Educators. These podcasts are an efficient way to learn new information while commuting, doing chores around the house, and even dutifully listening while taking notes. These podcasts range in topics, and cover anything from specific concepts to worldwide educational trends.

Ars Nova is a music software publisher that offers a number of excellent resources to sharpen one's proficiency in theory, part-writing, and counterpoint. Their software can be useful tools to recommend to advanced high school/undergrad students.

This website offers an abundance of music you can order for your performing groups, soloists, mixed ensembles, etc. There a variety of way to search for specific types of music such as "Holiday", "Classical", "Sacred", etc. J.W. Pepper has a wide collection from well known publishers. This is my go to choice for when it comes to ordering music for my program. You also have the ability to narrow your search down by grade level which makes it very easy when planning your program.

J. W. Pepper is an excellent website/resource for sheet music, accompaniment tracks, and much more. Their customer service is excellent. Many of the songs have a play feature so you can listen easily. You can search by genre, voicing, holiday, and pretty much any other category to find exactly the right song for your students.

J.W. Pepper is an online retailer for sheet music. They sell all kinds of music, from solo parts to full band parts. Most of the music they sell also has a demo track so the music can heard before a purchase is made.

The content is geared toward students in grades K-6. Other information: This webpage has excellent, free content, but some of the advertisements on the page may by inappropriate for display in class. Educators should find the resource they need and then print out hard copies for use in class.

This website has a lot of lesson plan ideas, theory worksheets, games, piano music and more all for free (mostly). I like to use this website if I want to find a new way to teach an old music concept.

This is a famous popular website and also app, that i use to teach my private students. This is a great way to practice reading music, ear training and knowing knowledge of different type of topics in music theory. This website and app has definitely made me a stronger musician through my undergraduate years. The purpose of this website is to provide practice of musical content, to help strength the mindset in many areas.

This is a website that offers free lessons, exercises and tools for the development of music theory knowledge and skill. 

This is an excellent list by esteemed conductor Karen Bruno that showcases several pieces that are great for treble choirs. The best part of the list is that it doesn't showcase the same tried-and-true standards, but rather she goes beyond the typical scope and brings in works that are not so common. It's a great resource for programming!

Great resources on the NAfME website on the "My Classroom" tab. Great ideas for every special month, advocacy, professional development, lesson planes, grants, and magazines.

The NAfME My Classroom website is an excellent resource for music educators. It provides links to journals, advocacy resources, professional development, and standards-based lesson plans. The lessons plan page offers both plans submitted by other educators and strategies for meeting the arts standards. By using the search tool, teachers can find lessons pertaining to a wide range of music content and age groups.

This YouTube video gives excellent but brief instruction on the topic of tone color or timbre. What is tone color? The presentation uses several instruments to illustrate what timbre is and how composers might use this musical element to evoke a mood or paint a musical picture.

Classics for Kids is a website featuring high quality weekly radio shows/podcasts about classical composers and their music. The service is provided by Cincinnati Public Radio. Excellent biographical information along with quality excerpts of composers' works are included. There is an extensive catalog of previous shows available for listening which are child friendly and is a great resource for music educators. The website also includes games and a section under the "For Grownups" tab for educators featuring music lesson plans.

This website feature excellent resources for educators related to "the Blues". PBS offers various resources for classroom instruction including lesson, recordings, and other resources to provide students with a better understand of this style of music. This website would be beneficial for general music and music appreciation. 

This resource is a web-based tool to practice hearing and labelling musical intervals. This would be an excellent tool to supplement aural skills training in middle or high school students.
