    Another document from Dr. William Bauer about making music with an iPad created by Dr. William Bauer for the International Society for Technology in Education on June 24, 2013. A tremendous resource for creating performing, understanding and responding to music with an iPad. Also, there are links for general administrative and productivity apps which are useful for other academic disciplines.  Additionally, there is a lot of information that is useful about hardware and connecting the iPhone/iPod touch/iPad. Great resource for using iPads in the music classroom, which is what is needed for me personally.

    This document comes from a Learning Station Session presented by Dr. William Bauer for the International Society for Technology in Education. The session centered around apps and tools that can be used on the iPad that match the music standards of creating, responding, and performing. The site contains a full list of apps and tools available for the iPad and they help make the iPad a music learning tool.

    Dr. Bauer provides a comprehensive list of programs and apps for the Ipad that can be used in the music classroom. These apps can provide ways to create music and transform the Ipad into an actual musical instrument. Dr. Bauer creates lists separated into apps that will create music, perform music, help with understanding music, ease administration, and other resources. This list cannot only help integrate technology into the classroom, but also show music in a different light.

    This is a document that is a resource for creativity and technology for music learning put together by Dr. William Bauer for the FETC in Orlando, Florida on January 31, 2014. Other headings include: technology to facilitate musical creativity and general cloud-based technologies useful for facilitating musical creativity. This page is an excellent resource to develop ideas for learning with technology in the classroom. Many of the programs are free, easy to use and applicable to many educational ideas.

Each item on the list will facilitate organization, creativity, or music learning. Dr. Bauer comprised a list of fifty resources to integrate technology into the music classroom including notation software, cloud-based libraries, media players, and organizational tools.

    For those who don't know, Dr. John M. Long, founder of the "Sound of the South" at Troy University, is an icon in the band world and has touched many lives for many years. This is a reflection by a former student of his for when Dr. Long was recognized at the Kennedy Center for the Sondheim Award. There is a very inspirational quote at the very end that is something that all students need to hear.

    "What is Jazz?" is a four-part lecture about jazz by Dr. Billy Taylor presented at the John F. Kennedy Center. Dr. Bill Taylor is a noted jazz pianist, historian, and educator. His four-part lecture dives into the history of jazz and the most important moments of jazz history. The first lecture centers around the origins of jazz in the African-American experience of slavery to the civil rights movement. This lecture explores the development of repertoire and techniques used in jazz performance. The second lecture discusses the techniques and traditions of jazz improvisation. The third lecture discusses the evolution of swing and rhythm/harmony with the inclusion of examples by a piano. The fourth lecture discusses the role of jazz in American culture and history, as well as the impact it has had on the world.

There are thorough explanations on the First Steps in Music and Conversational Solfege curricula developed by Dr. Feierabend for those who want to learn more or want to advocate for his methodology. A thorough explanation of the musical content and learning objectives (tuneful, beatful, artful) are also available. A podcast hosted by Dr. Feierabend himself is available to members. Some services, like teacher resources, are also only available to members but have incredibly valuable.
