The NAfME My Classroom website is an excellent resource for music educators. It provides links to journals, advocacy resources, professional development, and standards-based lesson plans. The lessons plan page offers both plans submitted by other educators and strategies for meeting the arts standards. By using the search tool, teachers can find lessons pertaining to a wide range of music content and age groups.

Great site for any music teacher! For those who have ever struggled with catchy bulletin board music themes, this site has a ton of kits to download and use all throughout the year. The themes range from seasons, to advocacy, to careers in music. Of course, they do not come for free. If you are willing to shed some cash, they are all around $6.00. Otherwise, if you can recreate them on your own, then that will save your pockets some stress! In any event, this will definitely be a bookmark for the ages!

The Florida Music Educators Association provides a variety of opportunities for students and educators to grow. The annual professional development conference provides many relevant seminars. Also, FMEA hosts honor ensembles to promote excellent in student achievement. Music Matters is a foundation that provides funding to schools who are in danger of losing their programs or need assistance in raising funds for their programs.

My school district was actually recognized as one of the districts to receive "Best Community for Music Education" by NAMM. I discovered this article when reading Kerstetter (2010) article about music education blogging. It is considered one of the longest-running music education blogs in existence. This blog site was founded in 2006 and is now a multi-author blog covering topics about music education. music technology, and music advocacy. Authors are music professors at various smaller universities.
