Musication is a YouTube channel that offers boomwhacker, body percussion and handbell play-longs for students. The site is intended for elementary music, but can be used with any age. There is a wide variety of songs on the site and he has a facebook page as well. The site is based out of the Netherlands

The Opus Music website is a great resource for teachers looking for free printables. It is not a in-depth site, but instead offers a series of music theory worksheets, speed note name tests as well as flashcards and teacher printables for: business cards, lesson registration, lesson assignment and lesson billing. This site is geared towards a private studio teacher, but I have found the theory worksheets useful for beginning music students as well. All the material is free. There are also links to music teaching resources.

The Gordon Institute for Music Learning website is a simple and easy-to-use website. You can find the schedule of upcoming seminars to attend around the United States, find a nearby chapter to join and read Gordon's Biography. The best information for music educators is under "Music Learning Theory." Here you can read about the Gordon method, audiation, musical aptitude, methodology, learning sequence, classroom activities, early childhood and instructional applications.

The ACDA website has resources and information for choral directors. You can access repertoire lists for all ages including adult ensembles, connect to the forum ChoralNet, sign up for conferences, read several journal articles that have been archived and search music jobs. Some of the content, such as the Choral Journal and Musica are only available to members.

The Aria Database has: 1288 Arias ,177 Operas , 65 Composers, 389 Translations,1027 Aria Texts and 223 MIDIs. The search features on this site are impressive. You can search using the name of the aria, opera, or the role. You can also search by voice part or vocal range. While the website is not adding new material, most vocalists will be able to find what they are looking for with the depth of material already entered.

The Smithsonian Folkways Recordings website is filled with standard-based content from around the globe. There are articles to read, podcasts to listen to, recordings to listen to, artists to research and lesson plans to use in the classroom. The lesson plans are standard-based and well researched. Each lesson is labeled on the world map for easy reference. Lessons have links to playlists, videos and additional resources. There are lesson plans designed for all ages K-12.

The Yellow Brick Road website contains a blog full of free, well-designed, standard-based lesson plans as well as links to her store on www.teacherspayteachers.com. You can sign up for a newsletter on the website to get additional resources emailed to you. This site is geared towards K-6 general music.

Musictheory.net is a free online music theory resource. There are lessons on: The basics, rhythm and meter, scales and key signatures, intervals, chords and chord progressions. These same lessons, as well as fretboard and ear training exercises, can be translated into exercises and also assignments that can be turned in and verified by a code checker. Beyond that there is also a set of tools that includes note, interval, scale and chord analysis calculators as well as a staff paper template and tempo tapper. More extensive options can be purchased.

Music a la Abbott is a blog containing free Kodaly based lesson plans for K-5 general music as well as elementary drum, bell and vocal ensembles. She also has a link to her store on www.teacherspayteachers.com. Her website has a page dedicated to the design of her classroom, as well as her upcoming workshops around the United States. She also has an easy to use label feature so you can find blog posts relating to a specific topic such a 1st grade or assessments.

Mrs. Miracle's Music Room has a wealth of information. Besides the usual blog with free lesson plans and a link to her www.teacherspayteachers.com store, she also has a link to her podcast and facebook group. She includes easy to use labels to sort the blogs as well as a link to highlight her classroom design and organization. Her blogs range in topics from specific lesson plans to teacher self-care and learning styles in the music classroom. She is a Kodaly trained teacher and her blog is geared towards K-6 general music.

The Kodaly Center website is a valuable resource for all music teachers and especially those teaching elementary general music. The website contains videos about the history and philosophy of Kodaly, as well as recent news and upcoming events being held at the center. The most impressive feature of this site is the pubic domain library of songs and the precise ways they are categorized. Songs can be searched and categorized by: Origin, region, state, subject, song type, grade level, tonal center, scale, tone set, melodic range, melodic element, melodic motive, rhythmic element, meter, form, formal analysis and game type. Once you find a song you can see all of this detailed information as well as (in most cases) listen to the song, often sung by a child or group of children.
