"Il tablet è certamente il gadget tecnologico del momento nell'editoria digitale come nelle scuole. L'avvento, sempre imminente ma continuamente procrastinato, dei libri di testo digitali nonché le diverse sperimentazioni (che hanno rapidamente soppiantato quelle con la LIM, Lavagna Interattiva Multimediale) nella didattica curricolare, hanno trasformato il tablet nella bacchetta magica con cui combattere il disinteresse per contenuti stantii, colmare il digital divide tra docente e studente, proiettare la scuola nel futuro e mille altre meraviglie pedagogiche. Poco o nulla si dice però del suo utilizzo per i Bisogni Educativi Speciali (per tacere dei Bisogni Comunicativi Complessi), soprattutto al di fuori dei circuiti "specializzati".. Eppure siamo di fronte finalmente a uno strumento inclusivo, piacevole, bello, efficiente in grado rendere simili invece che differenziare! E' "normale" vedere qualcuno che usa un tablet in giro per la città: nessuno si fermerebbe per chiedergli perché lo usa! Però - anche se ci piace (ed è anche giusto) vederlo sotto questa luce - il percorso che porta all'utilizzo del tablet deve essere strutturato, personalizzato e condiviso con la consapevolezza che: 1) come ausilio potrebbe anche non andare bene per quel bambino/ragazzo/adulto; 2) soprattutto in età evolutiva, non tutti gli ambienti di vita potrebbero essere in grado di farlo utilizzare in maniera adeguata e significativa."

I've watched all the movies and even read the original Walking Dead Comics before it became a hit series in the classroom. One Teacher's Curriculum Geography has always been a learning target for social studies teachers, and David Hunter, who teaches at Bellevue, Washington's Big Picture School, decided to create a curriculum using Kickstarter as its funding source. He sought to make geography relevant through engaging scenarios and stories with a zombie theme tying it all together. With an unprecedented surge of YouTube fans, Sparky has over 99,000 subscribers to his channel, and counting, and nearly 506,000 views on his most popular "drop" on classic American novel, To Kill a Mockingbird. Also included on Sparky's reading list are George Orwell's 1984, Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë, and popular culture's latest literary buzz courtesy of Baz Luhrmann's film, The Great Gatsby, by F. Scott Fitzgerald. Sparky tells me the idea for Thug Notes came about as a result of his "frustration with the world of academia." "In my opinion," he says, "an academic's job should be to utilise their passion for the classics to make the gift of literature available to everyone. Il team di Khan Academy c'è ancora, ma è praticamente deserto.

Suggerimenti interessanti su come assicurarsi che gli allievi facciano quel che devono fare in classe con aggeggi web-connessi anziché lasciarsi trascinare da altre cose. Ma si tratta proprio di una "nuova frontiera" per gli insegnanti? In tempi pre-web, era lo stesso quando mandavi gli allievi a far ricerca in biblioteca, o gli facevi fare lavoro di gruppo sul prato della scuola, no?

Aggiungo solo questo: che se si va a scuola per lavorare in modalità 1-to-1, tanto valeva restarsene a casa, no? Va bene per brevi periodi di tempo e per scopi precisi, ma altrimenti la scuola è preziosa per comunicare con l'insegnante o lavorare a coppie o in gruppo. Socializzare e costruire la comunità, insomma.
