Wurde am Museum and the Web 2008 vorgestellt: http://www.archimuse.com/mw2008/abstracts/prg_335001856.html "The Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM), as an active cultural promoter, implemented a virtual museum system in order to help and develop expression related to art, science and humanities. The UNAM's cultural heritage is, as in many other universities, a vast number of different kinds of objects, ranging from painting and sculpture to numismatics and architecture, from traditional art to modern multimedia-based exhibits to Scientific Collections. It is impossible to exhibit it all in a single place in an orderly fashion." http://www.archimuse.com/mw2008/abstracts/prg_335001856.html

Ein Beispiel für neue Zielgruppen erreichen (s. Konferenzbeitrag Archimuse: http://www.archimuse.com/mw2008/abstracts/prg_335001837.html Our solution (in progress): - By creating many experiments across the widest range of existing social networking models we are making links with the local community who in turn show what the Gallery and the area is really about through their own images, ...- We always ensure we can back each experiment with adequate resources and talent to ensure a high quality result that does justice to the Gallery we represent.

How to Evaluate Online Success? A New Piece of Action Research | conference.archimuse.com - 1 views

  •
"How to measure and define the success of cultural websites and online services is a problem common to all parts of the cultural sector - museums, archives, galleries, arts organizations, libraries and publishers. Worse, funding agencies and government departments lack the expertise to offer guidelines or set standards. The result is a confusing mixture of statistics and reporting that reveals little about genuine user satisfaction."

Kristen defined six possible roles for museums on the Internet: 1) Filter - find and share relevant, accurate, trustworthy information 2) Curator - become a one stop shop for primary and secondary source material on specific topics 3) Node in a network - package information to live beyond your walls, monitor conversations around your content 4) Community builder - create your own network, be involved in online conversations 5) Lifesaver - provide portable information when and where people need it most 6) Tour Guide - connect your content to the real world

This paper looks at the use of cell phones for tours of cultural sites in Europe. Although several projects have experimented with IVR, SMS and even multimedia tours on standard and next-generation networks, take-up of this platform by museums has remained low in comparison to US activity, despite cell phone usage being more wide-spread and longer-developed than in North America. Through case studies of recent phone tour projects at Tate Modern and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, we examine what the key differences and similarities are between phone-based tours on the two continents, and what each can learn from the other.

Based on the semantically-enriched data model, we have implemented three different components/tools in the CHIP demonstrator: Artwork Recommender, web-based virtual Tour Wizard and PDA-based Mobile Tour. (i) Artwork Recommender. a Web-based rating dialog for artworks/topics to build a user profile, based on semantics-driven recommendations. (ii) Tour Wizard. a Web-based tool using the user pro le to generate (semi)automatically personalization virtual museum tours for each user. (iii) Mobile Tour. a PDA-based tool to map virtual tours into the physical museum space with constraints; to give guidance to users and to synchronize the user profile on the web and in the PDA. prsented at Museum and the Web 2008: http://www.archimuse.com/mw2008/abstracts/prg_335001703.html

In 2002, the people of Ontario became the fortunate recipients of a time capsule vividly illustrating life in the province during the 1950s and 1960s when London television station CFPL generously donated 2,700 reels of news film to the Archives of Ontario. Where Do We Go From Here? Continuing with Web 2.0 at the Brooklyn Museum "As we moved forward with Web 2.0 and social media in 2007, we had two objectives in mind while overhauling earlier initiatives and creating new projects for visitors: * Keep it real: We aimed to personalize content as much as possible, since Web 2.0 for the Brooklyn Museum is all about social connections and growing communities. * Deliver content their way: Museum surveys have shown that visitors want to consume more information in shorter visits. Hence, we wanted to allow our audiences to easily receive information from the Museum, and dynamically share it with others. We continued to focus on our community-oriented, visitor-centered mission, and these goals became paramount as we thought about (and adjusted) our early initiatives; they also served as philosophical barometers when we created new projects. "In the years since the appearance of the first museum Web sites, most museums have established some presence on the World Wide Web. Museums have much to learn from each other, and from developers using the Web for other applications. To facilitate this exchange of information, Archives & Museum Informatics organises an annual international conference devoted exclusively to Museums and the Web. MW is the largest international conference devoted to the exploration of art, science, natural and cultural heritage on-line. "
