The following article analyzes the relationship of mobile proximity marketing in the hotel industry and how it is very innovative in shaping different ways to interact with hotel guests and to drive revenues. Many things have changed in the last 10 years in the advertising and marketing industry as mobile devices became more of a pocket computer. Different technologies have been developed to use the full interaction possible with the customers and marketing had to be quick to make its own changes. The inception of proximity marketing allow the companies to be more effective and develop an interactive engagement. By changing the methods of communication, marketing can deliver and offer more information than it could ever be done before. One of the main ideas behind is to entice the customers and offer them exclusivity, giving the guests what they want. In exchange, hotels get to retain more loyal customers and also gain data and statistics that will help the hotel to stay relevant at all times. At the end of the day, the main goal is increasing customer engagement, exclusivity and interaction. So far it has been working just fine.
  • hoteliers can also measure the response of their advertisements, and advertising messages can be tailored based on the hotel or advertising partner's needs in real-time
  • this interactive marketing engagement is the marriage of digital and mobile marketing used to deliver content to guests' mobile devices in a contextually relevant environment
  • The messages are automatically delivered to the guest's cell phone whenever they approach a certain distance (from 3 to 300 feet) of the TV in their room, or any digital signage in the hotel property,
  • Proximity marketing has tremendous revenue-producing potential, allowing hotels to deepen their connection with guests, encourage more loyalty and greatly improve the customer experience:
  • new opportunity for hoteliers to increase revenues by advertising to a captive audience that craves information and interaction
  • it is clear that the future of hotel marketing is ready to evolve
  • offering hotels and advertisers increased customer engagement, interaction and exclusivity. B
  • y adding proximity marketing into the mix, hoteliers can encourage guests to react to an advertisement immediately, create repeat business, and in turn generate larger ROI for hotel advertisers.
  • allows digital signs to 'talk and interact' with nearby mobile devices, providing mobile users with information and incentives at exactly the time they need them
  • Proximity marketing provides a tool to reach guests beyond just traditional advertising campaigns by adding to existing digital signage and television advertising
  • As hoteliers search for new marketing tools to increase interaction with their guests, and advertisers switch budgets from traditional advertising to newer, more interactive "new media",
  • an exclusive offer, rich media, loyalty promotions and incentives and a great deal more.
  • Proximity marketing offers hoteliers capabilities that traditional advertising never could alone, which is why it is such an effective marketing for hoteliers.
  • Two of the fastest-growing marketing channels today are mobile devices
  •
This article discusses proximity marketing within the hospitality industry. Proximity marketing is a growing useful tool. Hotels are among those utilizing proximity marketing. As noted in the article and highlighted in yellow, proximity marketing allows the hotel to reach there guest after they check in. Following check in your phone can be used as increased access to the hotel. Proximity marketing is an enhancement which leads to increased innovation. Per the article proximity marketing is one of the most effective advertising tools to become available for hotels. Through proximity marketing messages are transferred to the guest cell phone. The cell phone access has the ability to lead to increased revenue. The hotel and guest can interact in new ways. This form of marketing caters to guest engagement, provides a new method of communication and allows for guests to receive information. Proximity Marketing is an innovative tool that I believe will continue and grow as the years continue.

This article serves to illustrate the effectiveness of proximity marketing as it is a way for businesses to carefully curate their messages based on customer interactions and in turn increase revenues through specifically targeted advertising campaigns. This digital marketing technique is designed to boost customer engagement and interaction and will enable the company to gain valuable insights to customer behavior.
  •
Discussed are the uses of proximity marketing for the hotel industry. The ability to reach guests while on property and informing them of the services that are available as well offering special pricing and other incentives for returning to the property are all useful tools.
  •
MUST READ! This is a powerful summary of proximity marketing - and how it applies specifically to hotels. The article is rich in statistical data on how many guests use their cell phones, have a cell phone and what the opportunities are for a hotel to use this data. Interesting stat - 98% of guests turn on their TV within 5 minutes of entering their room. What a captive way to reach out to your guests!
  •
Proximity marketing allows hoteliers to reach their guest in a more innovative way. When entering a hotel lobby or bar, a push notification can be sent to them advertising the brand. It can also be done in the hotel room via their TV. With an increase in cellphone usage, 91% of Americans will be easily reached electronically.
  •
Mobile proximity marketing in my opinion will continue more vigorously in the future . This is a captive audience for the hotel to connect with its guests to upsell , inform , drive business to the brand and its affiliates as well as a great tool for guest retention . Undoubtedly , the cell phone has replaced Ipads and computers in the movement for vacation guests for example . A guest would usually not take their laptops to the pool area but will more often than not , take their cell phone. A popup Ad while walking by the boutique or an outlet can stir emotions to visit or purchase that was never planned.
  •
This article discusses how, using proximity marketing and hotels can deliver relevant content to guests' mobile devices at moments of maximum influence, in a contextually relevant environment. With proximity marketing, hotels can advertise to a captive audience without leaving their property or hotel rooms. Messages can be tailored according to the hotel or advertising partner's needs in real-time.

As the title indicates, this article briefly discusses the release of a web-based, financial accounting system specifically targeting the hospitality industry. Created by Aptech, the Next Generation Accounting Solution system is bound to reduce payroll costs and drastically minimize the manual workload put into financial accounting. Thanks to this system, users will be able to monitor their daily numbers more efficiently and access data at any time from any computer with Internet access. Another advantage of the ANGAS system is that it fully supports sole proprietorships as well as corporations. In other words, hotel companies of different sizes should be able to utilize this web-based accounting tool. In summary, this article confirms how the use of cloud-based applications has allowed companies in the hospitality industry to simultaneously keep operating costs down and maximize their productivity levels.
  •
Aptech Computer Systems, a provider of hospitality software and enterprise financial accounting, has developed a system that has the ability to help a hotel enterprise or the common Innkeeper. The is system is Web-based and was developed by the company Microsoft. The Company Ap tech has been around for 40 years and have been hotels with their performance management tools. Originally, they started working on interstate motel with their technology and from then on have been a huge success. I am sure people will be very sceptical when using this product because it is Web-based, however it does seem to be much easier to use and if something were to happen you have access to 24/7 customer service. For a business just starting out, this seems like a perfect tool.
  •
An advanced hospitality financial accounting system is launched by Aptech Computer Systems, which is a hospitality software and financial accounting company. The system is based on internet and can be used by both individual and multi-property hotel companies. The president of the company thinks that with the help of internet, hospitality staff can access to the tools more easily. Also, he has positive attitude towards using new technology by more hotels. There is also an example for the technology's expanding role in hospitality industry. Smith Travel sent its research reports from two to three weeks a time to once a day. I think a good accounting system is very important for a hotel. In the globalized world, many hotels expand themselves in the world, and this system can bring convenience to multi-property hotels.

Cloud security: The reason hackers have it so easy will infuriate you - 0 views

  • hackers time and again have outwitted the cyberguardians.

  • Companies have uploaded VPN and cloud access credentials to cloud storage systems that are easily accessible.
  • security breaches are routinely made worse when hackers who enter one system are then finding the keys to another lying around unencrypted.
  • developers are still regularly storing the digital keys to company assets and even user data in source code, configuration files, and other miscellaneous, unencrypted locations.
  • Unlike typical users who can memorize their passwords or store them with a secure password manager, developers and IT workers often need to keep security credentials in places where automated software can find them.
  • Cloud managers are playing catchup to close the door on the critical data left out in the open.
  • Sophisticated new cybersecurity tools designed to securely store these kinds of credentials in a way that legitimate, automated processes can access, and intruders can’t
  • hackers time and again have outwitted the cyberguardians.
  • cloud industry leader Amazon launched AWS Secrets Manager, its own credential management tool. And Microsoft offers what it calls Azure Key Vault to securely store and monitor and control access to this kind of data.
  • The main problem is that companies really don’t have policies for it or they don’t follow up and make sure those policies are followed
  • Until recent hacks made it clear that few organizations can hope to keep their networks entirely free from intrusion, many companies paid less attention to the security of data within their firewalls
  • UpGuard, known for its frequent role in detecting leaks tied to data stored on insecure cloud machines, has released BreachSight, which scours the internet for its clients’ exposed code, credentials, personally identifiable information, and other sensitive data.
  • Since last year, Amazon has also offered a service called Amazon Macie, which uses machine learning to detect unusual access patterns to cloud storage and uploads of potentially sensitive data like access keys.
  • Amazon also released open source software to help prevent accidentally storing passwords and keys to source code repositories
  • other developers have offered similar tools to scrub credentials from existing code.
  • it’s possible that those types of tools will automatically be provided as part of cloud computing contracts, as standard as seatbelts in new cars.
  •
Cloud computing has created a very hacking prone storage system because companies have not been paying as much attention to security as they should. Thus, by not taking the logical measures such as not uploading credentials to cloud storage systems, they are becoming prone to hacker raids. However, with the turning of the tide, new methods of security have presented themselves in the form of online tools such as HashiCorp's Vault Microsoft's Azure Key Vault, and Amazon's AWS Secrets Manager, which stores sensitive credentials in very limited access windows, as well as UpGaurd's BreachSight which detects online data leaks containing exposed and volatile client data, and Amazon's Amazon Macie, which learns the access patterns of your cloud storage,

4 Advantages of Internet Marketing for Tourism - 0 views

shared by knare002 on 17 Jun 19 - No Cached
  • Internet marketing offers no such cover. Consumers have just as strong a voice online as businesses do. On some channels, such as social media, their voices are louder.
  • Travel is expensive—sometimes so much so that it keeps travelers from fulfilling their dreams of visiting all the places they want to see. Because of this, many of them look for discounts. If you provide special deals to your social media followers and email subscribers (and advertise that fact on your site), you can easily build up a loyal customer base.
  • The Internet has become an extremely useful tool for travelers and tourists. It provides a wealth of information on destinations, resources for planning trips, and reviews from previous visitors.
  •
This article explains how to use the internet to market a hospitality and tourism business and it's advantages. Using various tools such as mobile apps and social media are effective marketing tools. The article explains how travelers research destination prior to booking travel, so it is in the best interest to display detailed information using the various tools. The cost of internet marketing is less than the traditional print, mail, and ad space. The internet offers instant speed of delivery compared to the traditional methods. Offering exclusive deals for email subscribers can boost customer loyalty.

HNN - Revenue and cost strategies for boutiques, independents - 0 views

  • Without the power of a brand sales team and the tools that they provide, your independent hotel’s sales efforts need to ensure that they are utilizing the right channels to effectively capture transient demand.
  • While global distribution system business is mostly pay-to-play, it provides exceptional return on investment in the right markets.
  • Direct bookings are the most cost-effective business for boutique hotels, so it is always the goal to drive business to our own booking channels. Identifying what percent of business you need from group sales, GDS and online travel agencies is paramount to a successful revenue strategy.
  • ...5 more annotations...
  • Identify your hotel’s ideal rooms-to-space ratio to optimize profits on any piece of group business and to ensure your revenue manager and sales team are on the same page.
  • Your social media platforms create a stage for your hotel’s voice to be heard, so their importance is far greater than they would be for a branded hotel. Develop creative packages and collateral that capture the guest experience to set yourself apart from a franchised hotel.
  • A destination is a high contributing factor in the decision-making process, so your sales team should highlight all of the attractive aspects of the local area.
  • If your hotel has an in-house food-and-beverage department, then capitalizing on these events is even more critical to achieving financial success and should be incorporated into your revenue strategies
  • Your website should be constantly updated with local happenings, events and hangouts to keep up with search engine optimization (SEO) changes that stress local focused searches
  •
The article introduces how to manage revenue and cost strategies for boutiques and independent hotels. Compared to big brand hotels, boutique and independent hotels have less brand power, and less power of a brand sales team. So, they need to find the right tools to adapt and fit their own property. Firstly, GDS is a good source to gain an exceptional return on investment, but it costs a lot to adopt for small or mid-sized hotels. Thus, direct bookings can be the most cost-effective way for them to choose. By identifying the sales from group and OTA, revenue can increase and optimize profits. Hotel can hold events as one of the ways to increase revenue. Mixing F&B and event can achieve financial success. Also, independent hotels can use destination marketing to emphasize tourist spots and host more business trip. Lastly, the importance of social media and website is very high for boutiques and independents. As they constantly update their site, search engine optimization should be kept up with. Considering GDS system in the context of small property, they are not afforded to adopt the system though it has a lot of benefits to increase revenue. Thus, they should find the right tool to adapt while considering the budget or common booking tool utilized.

According to this article, event planners are using tech savvy methods to track the movements of attendees with Wi-Fi, GPS, iBeacons, or low-energy Bluetooth to see which events or booths they're visiting. The article further mentions how event planners are turning to IT to improve engagement between attendees and event coordinators using tools like Speecheo and Evolero. What I found particularly interesting is how event planners are incorporating sensor integration and wearable technology. Many companies are using wearable-technology, such as RFID wristbands, to accept cashless payments, connect to social media accounts, and replace paper tickets. Event coordinators are also going out of their way to create more personalized experiences. With all of this access to data and technology, an events planner can now provide attendees a more personalized experience. Lastly, social media as a planning tool and augmented reality also makes it possible for people all over the world to attend and experience an event without physically being there.

There are many different ways that event planners can use technology to their advantage such as improving engagement and collecting data. It also goes onto explain social medias influence on events and how event planners can use it as a marketing and planning tool. I think that this is a perfect article for all those who hope to become involved in the event planning industry.

Hotel Industry Trend: Mobile Proximity Marketing Gives Hoteliers and Their Advertisers ... - 3 views

  • andexclusivity.
  • Today, hotels and advertisers have a new tool to reach their guests after they check in: interaction via the guests’ mobile devices—only now, it won’t be by dialing a number or sending a text message.
  • Proximity marketing is one of the most effective advertising tools to become available for hoteliers.
  • ...10 more annotations...
  • Proximity marketing offers hoteliers capabilities that traditional advertising never could alone, which is why it is such an effective marketing for hoteliers.
  • Proximity marketing provides a tool to reach guests beyond just traditional advertising campaigns by adding to existing digital signage and television advertising.
  • Proximity marketing appeals to what guests want, offering hotels and advertisers increased customer engagement, interaction andexclusivity.  By notifying guests of exclusive promotions hotels have to offer through their mobile phones, hotels and advertisers have a greater chance of customers responding to their advertisements, and therefore a greater ROI on their marketing spend.
  • Changing technologies provide a new way for hotels to interact with guests.
  • As hoteliers search for new marketing tools to increase interaction with their guests, and advertisers switch budgets from traditional advertising to newer, more interactive “new media”, it is clear that the future of hotel marketing is ready to evolve.
  • With such an increase in the use of mobile devices, hotels and advertisers are now provided with an interactive and immediate way to connect and engage with their guests.  Research shows that 98% of hotel guests turn on the TV within five minutes of entering their room.  This means that within the first five minutes of checking in, hotels are provided with a captive audience that is primed for information and offers.
  • By the end of 2011, 91% of Americans will own mobile phones, and Smartphone penetration will double.
  • by using wireless Bluetooth® capabilities—95% of mobile phones, including Smartphones are Bluetooth-enabled – to reach guests via their mobile devices, hotels and their advertisers can now offer promotions to guests after check-in, directly onto their mobile phone.
  • Research has shown that proximity marketing increases the response rate of traditional mobile marketing making it more effective: through mobile advertising, over 1.2 billion in digital coupons were issued in 2010 (over 41% growth) and response rates for mobile location-based couponing was 23-33 percent.  By adding proximity marketing into the mix, hoteliers can encourage guests to react to an advertisement immediately, create repeat business, and in turn generate larger ROI for hotel advertisers.
  • Increased interaction engages the customer in a hotels promotion.
  •
Proximity Marketing is the trend of the marketing sector of the hospitality industry. Based on the statistics, there is a great increase in using proximity marketing recent years. And there are some reasons why hotels choose to use this technology. First, it enables the hotel to reach potential customers and providing electronic forms of advertising. By notifying guests of exclusive promotions hotels have to offer through their mobile phones, hotels and advertisers have a greater chance of customers responding to their advertisements, and therefore a greater ROI on their marketing spend. Second, from the perspective of the hotel, it decrease the advertising cost in terms of decreasing labor cost. It is said that proximity marketing has a tremendous revenue-production potential, and more hotels are engaging in using proximity marketing.
  •
Proximity marketing is the localized wireless distribution of advertising content associated with a particular place. It is now becoming one of the most popular marketing tools in any industry especially in hospitality. Marketing people from hotel industry were looking for new marketing tools past few years. Instead of sending out promotion mails or emails, they need to have better ideas. What they realized is that wish an increase in the use of mobile devices, hotels can communicate and provide better service with guest cell phone. They also realized guests usually watch TV, while they are waiting to be C/I. So hotel is now providing offers while guests are in line. It is a Win-Win situation. The way to find communication is now the key of marketing. Proximity Marketing is a type of eMarketing that will help to communicate with guests with low cost.
  •
According to this article, it said that by the end of 2011, 91% of Americans  owned mobile phones, and Smartphone penetration have been doubled. Obviously, it becomes a trend in hospitality industry nowadays that more and more people use smart phones and tablets. Based on wireless such as bluetooth, it allows hoteliers to interact with customers much easier and more convenient. Proximity marketing is one kind of eMarketing which is very popular in daily life. It is well known that better marketing brings better sales which of course increases revenues of companies. By sending guests nearby informations about promotions and discounts, hotels attract more guests than before. However, too much informations sent to guests will make them sucks and they have no choice to select what they really want. So in my opinion, I think it should be improved.

  • From smoke signals and carrier pigeons to smartphones and their ubiquitous apps, the way people interact across distances has drastically evolved. With each passing year, innovation appoints a new form of communication as revolutionary while decrying another form as passé.

The communication tools you use for any given message depends on the preference of your intended market. Small business I believe the communication depend on the way it appeals to your audience. Communication on emails is inexpensive and efficient and their results can be measured accurately, websites are effective tool to establish credibility, but can be expensive, and social media such as Twitter and LinkedIn, it allows you to extend the reach of your message for your business and add value to your client relationship. Technology on communication as it advances by the minute the more resource people will have to be able to grow.

To design a website hardware and software tools are needed. A computer with a large hard disk, Random Access Memory to store data, high processing speed and large storage capacity is necessary to be able to process large video files that you would need to put on these websites. with videos, its best to take them yourself so as to lessen the cost of production. Two servers are needed both hardware and software. Microsoft front page is a software needed before constructing the site because it is a website design and management tool that is used to add, rename, delete or move around files. Availpro and Premier Hotels of the World announce extended partnership - 0 views

  • CEO of Premier Hotels of the World™ Mr. Martin Fabiano states: "We are excited to announce the partnership with Availpro, which will give our Member Hotels a distinct advantage over other Groups."
  •
The Availpro organization is the hospitality industry leader in online distribution. Its mission is to provide hotel owners with the most effective online sales platform. Using the tagline, 'The World is your hotel Marketplace,' Availpro has helped thousands of hotels worldwide sell over ten million rooms by utilizing a highly developed extranet channel. Availpro's extranet channels provide two-way connectivity to over one hundred distribution websites. With a larger scope of distribution the hotels using Availpro increase their sales and become more efficient. In addition, Availpro's management of these extranet channels saves hotels valuable time. However the reason Availpro is the leader in online distribution is not just its booking capabilities but rather its recent developments that together provide their clients an online distribution extranet solution. The booking engines that made Availpro successful expanded to include mobile applications and social booking with Facebook. Availpro also introduced important decision-making tools such as the Smart Channel Manager, Rate Screener and Guest Satisfaction. I was curious about the 'Rate Screener' so I read Availpro's article "Availpro rate screener allows Hotel owners to sell their rooms at best rate," published on October 17th 2011 (http://www.hospitalitynet.org/news//4053349.html). This tool was developed with user input and tested in real life rate decision scenarios. The all-in-one solution allows managers to see their rates, inventory and competitor rates on a central distribution schedule. By analyzing their competition in real time managers are able to optimize their rates. Long gone are the days when managers used to call the local competition and pretend to be walk-in guests to find out fire sale rates. This most recent article, published on the third of January 2012, discusses Availpro's growing partnership with Premier Hotels of the World™. By incorporating Availpro's ex

IBM Security Tool Can Flag 'Disgruntled Employees' - The CIO Report - WSJ - 0 views

  • A new International Business Machines Corp.IBM -0.15% security tool uses Big Data to help CIOs detect internal and external security threats in new ways—and can even scan email and social media to flag apparently “disgruntled” employees who might be inclined to reveal company secrets
  • The new tool, called IBM Security Intelligence with Big Data, is designed to crunch decades worth of emails, financial transactions and website traffic, to detect patterns of security threats and fraud.
  • the new platform, based on Hadoop, a framework that processes data-intensive queries across clusters of computers, will allow CIOs to conduct sentiment analysis on employee emails to determine which employees are likely to leak company data,

  • flagging workers who may be nursing grudges and are more likely to divulge company information.
  • The platform also helps companies protect against hacker attacks and fraud by allowing security personnel to look for patterns in past attacks
  • More and more companies are using Big Data to discover the pattern of security lapses as they struggle to keep up with emerging threats.
  •
I believe every business, especially if it is a huge corporation, should protect and control their company's data. A company's data falling into the wrong hands can be a huge drawback for the company, especially if it comes into contact with a competitor. This article explains how IBM have introduced a new security tool with Big Data to identify any suspicious internal and external security threats as well as flag any company secrets from displease employee's emails and their social medias. The new system can alert any frauds and risks from decade worth of emails, financial transactions, and websites. CIOs will be able to conduct a sentiment analysis on employees to see which worker is the most likely to expose company's information. Some can argue that employees have the right to post anything on their social media's accounts but if an employee still is employed by the company then it should be all bets off. The company should have all rights in making sure their information does not get leaked out by an employee who is simply having a bad day.

Why GDS Will Remain a Crucial Booking Channel for Hoteliers in 2017 and Beyond. - Monda... - 1 views

  • Even though online bookings continue to grow and will do so for the foreseeable future, hoteliers need to maintain a focus on the GDS channel, which will remain a critical source of revenue and bookings both in 2017 and for the next several years.
  • offline sales will continue to dominate the marketplace in 2017
  • an effective hotel distribution strategy must consider all distribution channels, including GDS, to find the strategy that's best for a particular hotel and market.
  • ...2 more annotations...
  • But despite years of predictions that agent-booked travel would decrease, GDS bookings remain strong: In our sample of data from Sabre hotels, the number of room nights booked via GDS grew by 1.08 million from 2015 to 2016, an increase of 10.4 percent. These numbers underscore industry analysts’ expectations for growth in this channel.
  • Successful inventory and distribution management strategies also require the right technology platform
  •
This article explains the booking trend of hotel in 2017 and afterward. Even though online booking tools such as website, mobile apps have made tourists easier to book the hotel in the world, in hotel's perspective, GDS is still the main contributor to increasing bookings and enhancing the hotel revenue. According to the article, GDS booking increased by 11.6 percent between the year 2015 and 2016, and around 60 percent of bookings at hotel were made through offline sources including CRS, walk-in, call or GDS. Among these, the major tool was GDS. Furthermore, the change of economic and political environment has caused hotels to have the right tools to decrease the loss. Thus, hotels should be equipped with the technology platform to monitor and support inventory and distribution channels. Every hotel has different situation and different booking channel. For example, when I was working at reservation department, our main booking source was an online. In other words, each hotel should find out what their main booking channel is, and based on that, suitable strategy to improve revenue should be developed even though this article emphasizes the importance of GDS booking.

Princeton Professors Launch AI COVID Screening Tool | Hotel Business - 1 views

  • The CovidDeep app is 90%-plus accurate in predicting whether a person is virus-free or virus-positive, and is twice as effective as current triage tools, such as temperature checks and questionnaires, according to the developers.
  • “CovidDeep has been developed as a rapid screening tool to help businesses such as hospitality venues maintain a COVID-19 safe environment,” said Dr. Adel Laoui, CEO/founder, NeuTigers. “Currently, venues rely on screening tools such as temperature checks, which are only used to detect symptomatic cases and are less than 50% accurate in detecting whether a person has COVID-19.
  • Proven rigorous clinical studies show it to be 90% accurate in detecting if a person is SARS-CoV-2 virus positive, even if they have no symptoms (asymptomatic). It is able to do this at scale, in real-time and cost-effectively.”
  •
New app uses AI and readily available body sensors to detect, with 90% accuracy claim the developers, whether a person is COVID-19 positive/negative. This is done within 2 minutes and compared with current temperature only checks done by many locations, which are only 50% accurate and don't capture asymptomatic persons, is a potential game changer for organizations. All staff could potentially be tested every day before their shift starts.
  •
I think this is a great tool for all businesses especially the hospitality industry. The fact that it is adaptable to work with many health products already owned by consumers the cost to the business is low. I also like the high percentage rate of accuracy and what little time it takes to gather this data.

Why Personalization Is the Future of Hotel E-Commerce – Skift - 2 views

  • he hotel industry has an opportunity to transform the direct booking process using website personalization. Doing so can help deliver a more efficient and customized booking experience, resulting in better conversion ratios and the opportunity to further cultivate relationships with guests.
  • Personalization in the hotel industry has ceased to be a trend. Today, it’s an obligation.
  • Back in 2015, American Express Travel reported that 83 percent of millennials would allow brands to track their habits in exchange for a more customized experience
  • ...16 more annotations...
  • And earlier this year,
  • Deloitte Consulting published the white paper
  • noted that “–truly knowing your guests –what they have told you, what they request, what you have learned, and what should be implied –should yield larger results.”
  • using new technology-driven tools to help them streamline the booking process and create a more seamless guest experience.
  • When potential guests are shopping on a hotel’s website, there’s a clear opportunity before a booking is made for properties to demonstrate the acute attention they’ve paid to individual guests’ preferences. This is accomplished by using website personalization technology, allowing hotels to automatically and intuitively suggest particular room categories, package types, and even rates tailored to each user’s expectations.
  • he results of these improved personalization efforts are numerous, including higher booking probability, increased user satisfaction, and a greater likelihood of repeat visits to the website, leading to better brand loyalty. Taking these steps can even offer hotels a further tool to take more control of their distribution decisions, rebalancing their e-commerce strategies between direct and non-direct channels.
  • Building Loyalty is an Investment
  • over-relying on OTAs for cash customers hurts profitability.
  • Today’s personalization technology can also help hotels to optimize the conversion rates for direct bookings.
  • If this analysis shows that more users are bouncing from the site instead of booking, it may be time to consider new tools.
  • “When users leave a hotel’s website, they’re likely to have forgotten the details after visiting multiple other hotel-related sites,” he noted. As Upneja believes, personalization tools are one method to prevent this. “Appeal to them on the spot with personalized offerings like the right price, the right room category and the right amenities before they can move on.”
  • Personalization tech is increasingly an essential tool to rethink online bookings. But in order for it to succeed, there needs to be alignment between the personalization of the booking experience and the hotel’s curation of more traditional on-site amenities like service and design.
  • That site is available on both desktop and mobile, and in English and Spanish, the primary languages spoken by the hotel’s two main markets.
  • Using IP addresses also enables the Viceroy Los Cabos to personalize resort packages to users in locales suffering from bad weather.
  • “Ideally we want to sense that behavior and adapt the site for them, showing them customer reviews, social media posts, food and beverage photography – things that we know will be a strong call to action for the customer to continue through to making that reservation.”
  • Today’s hotelier recognizes the value that personalization has on the guest experience. The more guests feel that every aspect of their experience was tailored exactly for them, the greater the likelihood that they will spend more on property and return again and again. But in today’s competitive market, truly savvy hotel executives realize that it is no longer enough to only customize during the guest stay. Personalization needs to extend to the booking process, where the right tools give hotels the means to increase conversions, build better loyalty and customize content in order to deliver more direct bookings.
  •
On my previous article about Oraculo, the world's first predictive algorithm for hotels, I described how personalization in hospitality is no longer a trend but an obligation. By posting this new article I wanted to dig a little deeper into tailoring guests needs through e-commerce. In 2015, American Express Travel reported that 83% of millennials would not object to have their habits tracked if they get a more customized experience. This strong message has prompted the hotel industry to develop and implement website personalization technology that suggests, intuitively, specific room categories or packages to online lookers. Since building loyalty is an investment, improving the direct booking ratio is now the main goal of the industry. From experience, when I travel I try to stay at the same hotel and book directly from the hotel website. The most important thing to me when I shop around is furniture and bathroom. Although these are not generally specified in detail in room descriptions, the brand I'm loyal to is usually very consistent with my needs. If new technology would give me a more personalized stay somewhere else I would definitely change my membership. I have friends who don't travel much except for vacation and long weekends. They are lookers who go to online travel agencies (OTA's) and bounce from site to site trying to find the perfect place. The article explains this newer technology will be crucial to prevent lookers from bouncing to other websites, and encourage them to book directly from the hotel and avoid OTA's. The idea is to make it so personalized that it will be appealing on the spot. These new technologies not only can tailor room types and resort packages based on IP addresses, but it can customize your TV programming based on your web history. Personalizing the guest experience during the stay is no longer enough. Data shows that in order to build loyalty and make the customer return, personalization has to begin in the booking pr

This article describes how personalization of eCommerce can bring better profits, because it is helping guests personalize how they would like their stay. This is more efficient for the guests because it is ensure they get what they want, like if they want to be around certain theme parks, or if they want their rooms a certain way. They even have options where you can fit guests language barriers, like if they speak only spanish they can change the language so spanish speakers can also ensure they have their preferred stay.

This article explains the importance of website personalization. Here, vital information is stored for current and future use of consumers. It is important for industry professionals to have access to this information but protect it from reaching outside entities.
