How This Influenced My Thinking:it has made me have a respect and understanding for how language begins.  It has made me think about how it all starts with the simple sounds an infant makes Credibility of Source: It seems to be a very credible source.

Title:Obsessive Compulsive Disorder Author: KidsHealth Date Published:1995 Why Relevant and Summary: This is an in depth article about OCD, it's possible causes, relative behaviors of a child with OCD, signs and symptoms, diagnosing and treatment. How This Influenced My Thinking: I have a child with this disorder and this article was very informative for me as a person who had no background with this disorder. It helped to explain some of the behaviors I was witnessing and help me to make sense of it. Credibility of Source:Very credible as they use a host of different pediatricians and experts in the field to help keep the information as up to date as possible.

Title: What Influences Child Development? Author: Chaplinspeaks Date Published: March 24, 2012 Why relevant and Summary: While not necessarily referring to Bronfenbrenner's model specifically, she hit all of the same points as used in his model. She went into much more depth explaining not only the influences but also why it is likely to influence a child's development. How This Influenced My Thinking: This article didn't influence my thinking one way or another, because I found the same information in our textbook, but it did help me to understand the model in more depth because she thoroughly explained everything. Credibility of Source: I feel like this source is very credible. She has a MSW and seems to be very knowledgable and has done her research.

Title: Readings on the Development of Children Author: Mary Gauvain and Michael Cole Date Published: 2005 Why Relevant and Summary: This is relevant because it talks about the development of children and how Bronfenbrenner's theory applies to our lives. It goes through just like our human development book does and gives different examples so that you can better understand how each level applies to our life if we didn't understand it from our book. How This Influenced My Thinking: It doesn't influence my thinking because it gives the same information. What it does do is help me to understand the development in my own life and how I can better influence my children's development with this theory. Credibility of Source: Has some resources from Bronfenbrenner's books and articles. They are cited in this book.

Title: Genetic and Environmental  Influences  On Human Behavioral Differences Author: David Matt McGue and Thomas J. Bouchard Jr. Date Published:1998 Why Relevant and Summary: Bronfenbrenner's Ecological Theory is clearly stated and explained with examples. The analogies and summaries were helpful to understand the ecological systems better.  How This Influenced My Thinking: This discussed the differences between genetic and environmental factors affecting a persons behaviors. Credibility of Source: Very credible.  Lots of information and authors as well as dates

Title: Bring up BABIES: Director Thomas Balmes and producer Alain Chabat talk Author: Nick Dawsom Date published: March 16, 2010 (movie BABIES released May 7, 2010) Why Relevant and Summary: This beautiful film is relevant to the development of children globally in that it artistically represents the similarity and differences in the first year of life. Four children are followed from birth to their first birthday: Ponijao in Opuwo, Nambia, Mari in Tokyo, Japan, Bagar in Bayanchandmani, Mongolia, and Hattie in San Francisco, California. Some is a challenge to watch, as for us some of the parenting habits are unfamiliar to our culture, while many moments are funny and beautiful. I encourage you to watch the movie, and have linked specifically to this article so that you can also read about the director and producers' thoughts on the film. Credibility of source: Very credible.

Title: Nature vs. Nurture: Two Brothers With Schizophrenia Author: Norman, L., Keltner, C., James, R., Darling, L., Oliver, K. Date Published: 2001 Why Relevant and Summary: This article is very relevant because it discusses how nature and nurture can play a role in the human development. The authors do so by discussing how schizophrenia can be both due to nature and nurture by giving examples. How This Influenced My Thinking: This article showed me how both nature and nurture can effect the human development and we cat rule out one for the other. Credibility of Source: This source was found on ebscohost and is from the journal "Perspectives in Psychiatric."

Madia, MD Date: January 30, 2012 Why Relevant: its a branch of the nature vs. nurture debate, applied to the likelihood of criminal activity, and whether or not genetics is the main role or not. How it Influenced My Thinking: there are certain times during development that "nurture" could have an influence on the likelihood of being involved in crime, and some are genetically pre-disposed to be more violent. overall, it is a complex subject, but i believe both play a role in development. Credibility of Source: based on research conducted by university professors, including criminologist J.C. Barnes, Ph.D.

Title: Exclusive Breastfeeding for 6 Months Best for Babies Everywhere Author: No Author (World Health Organization) Date Published: 15 January 2001 Why Relevant and Summary: This statement from the WHO recommends that babies be exclusively breastfed for 6 months (no supplementation) based on the evidence from a recent 2009 study. The WHO also recommends that infants/toddlers continue to be breastfed for two years or more. The statement also covers some of the benefits of breastfeeding for both mother and baby. How This Influenced My Thinking: Breastfeeding long term is biologically normal, but not socially normal. The more we see the benefits and see mothers continuing to breastfeed, the more socially normal it will become. Credibility of Source: The World Health Organization is credible and bases it's statements off of research findings.

Title:Pregnancy, Birth, and Medicine Author: Rebecca Kukla, Catherine Wayne Date:February 17, 2011 Why Relevant to Summary: This is relevant to my summary because it talks about the ways of birth as well as pregnancy per and postnatal and it talks about medicine which ones are good and which ones are not. How this Influenced My Thinking: This made me realize that there is more about being pregnant and giving birth than just flowers and chocolates. It made me realize that I still have a lot to learn: credibility:it from the encyclopedia of philosophy in Standford University.

Title:Birthing types Author:Unknown Date Published:NDA Why Relevant and Summary:This is a clear description of different birthing choices and how they will work.  It explains what happens step by step to provide a detailed account. How This Influenced My Thinking:I never considered water birth or a midwife and it has opened my mind to these possibilities.  Credibility of Source:Failrly credible 

Title:Childbirth Options: What's the Best? Author: Brenda Conway Date Published: N.D. Why Relevant and Summary: This is a great article explaining the many different birthing options. It also gives pros and cons of each. How this influenced my thinking: I didn't realize there were so many options available with a hospital birth. Credibility of Source: The article was from Web M.D. so i think it is very credible.
