Gives great examples across different cultures. How This Influenced My Thinking: Made me realize that there are different views on how a child should be birthed i always thought that the father has to be present no matter what in the process. Title: Prenatal Massage - Many Benefits for Mom and Baby Author: Caroline Vigery, CMT Date Published: September 12, 2011 Why Relevant and Summary: This article explains the many benefits for both mother and baby from receiving Prenatal Massage. For mom it includes relaxation and stress reduction, reduction of pain and strains, improvement of blood circulation, preparation for labor, and improvement of respiratory and GI functions. Baby also receives improved blood circulation, healthy tissue, flexible joints and muscles during the pregnancy and labor. How This Influenced My Thinking: Prior to finding this article, I did not know that this was something that mothers did to improve health during pregnancy. I think that it is a great idea and I plan to receive massages too if and when I am pregnant. Credibility of Source: Pretty credible, it is a yoga business so they are more likely to point out the positive effects to make more business, but the article seems thorough and well written.

It talks about how certain toys can help with their development, and use of imagination. How This Influenced My Thinking: It helped back up what I had in mind. Credibility of Source: It seems credible. It has several other links incase one is interested in learning more about a specific or different subject.

Title: Vygotsky Development & Zone of Proximal Dev & Constructivist Author: Professor Indiana Date published: 20May2010 Why relevant and summary: This video is relevant because it describes Vygotsky's theory of Zone of Proximal Development and gives good examples. This video shows how young children can be taught not only by teachers and adults but by their peers who are slightly more advanced than them.You are able to witness both Scaffolding and guided participation within this segment. How this influenced my thinking: It gave me a better understanding of Vygotsky's theory. Credibility of Source: it was published by a professor.

How This Influenced My Thinking: This reinforced my beliefs on habituation and dishabituation and increased my knowledge on the subject. Credibility of Source:Uses references and research so it is pretty reliable

It also discusses a wide range of what to keep in mind when it comes to a child's temperament. How this influenced my thinking: This changed the way I think because it goes in detail how truly prepared a parent has to be. Credibility of source: it seems reliable it has refrences and cites everything.

Title: Fetal sensitivities to properties of maternal speech and language Author: B.S. Kisilevsky et al Date: 18 May 2008 Why Relevant and Summary: This article summarizes a study that shows that infants are able to distinguish their mother's voice from stranger females and from father's voice. This study also indicated that infants can distinguish between their native language and non-native languages. How this influenced my thinking: We hear a lot of stories of infants immediately calming down or ceasing to cry when they hear a familiar voice, so it seems only natural that infants can recognize mother's voice from other female voices. It is also interesting that infants can distinguish between their native language and foreign languages. Credibility of Source: This study was published in Infant Behavior and Development, a journal. It seems highly credible.

How This Influenced My Thinking: This article furthered my understanding of habituation and dishabituation. Title: Mary Ainsworth and Attachment Theory Author: Richard Brodie Date Published: 2012 Why Relevant and Summary: This website has a good video that shows secure attachment with an infant and her mother. It also discusses the other types of attachment; Anxious-Ambivalent Insecure Attachment and Anxious-Avoidant insecure attachment. How this influenced my thinking: This web based article allowed me to get a deeper understanding of the three different types of attachment that Ainsworth studied. Title- Mary Ainsworth Author- Saul Mcleod Date published-2008 Why relevant and summary- This site goes into depth about who Mary Ainsworth is, what she did for psychology, and how she came to develop her theory of secure attachment. The site gives a lot of information on the different attachment styles and what they mean, as well as providing a video that illustrates the different types of attachment. How this influenced my thinking- This influenced my thinking by allowing me to see how crucial of a role attachment plays in the development of children. How this influenced my thinking: This made me realize that ADHD could affect an dult to the point of suicide. Credibility:it came from WedMD and was recently published.

How did this influence my thinking?: This article makes clear many aspects of ADHD that I had not thought of or known about prior to reading it. Source Credibility: Very credible. Not only did the author include relevant personal opinions but included many citations from medical professionals in many different fields of medicine.
