How has this influenced my thinking: It didn't, but it was interesting to see the shocking fact that divorce rates were highest among middle aged adults. The artilce also gives an out side of the box perspectice as well. Very informative. How this influenced my thinking: This gave me a new perspective to middle adulthood that I had not had previously. While it's not so much an article, it does list wonderful tips and advice. How it has change my thinking: While it didn't necessary "change" my thinking, as a parent I found everything on this site to be helpful and positive. Credibility: This was a post from the Moral Society. I don't know who the author was specifically all of the information was logical.

Title: Puberty, Periods and Girls' Bodies Author: Avert Date Published: n.d Why Relevant:Goes into great detail about puberty for females what to expect and the symptoms you can expect. If also gives many information about the female body. How this influenced thinking: Didn't influence my thinking, because these were all things that I have already learned but it did give me give me many ideas of how I might go about talking to my 2 daughters when they reach puberty. Credibility: This article has great logical information as well as references.

How it influenced my thinking: This article made me more aware of the risk factors that children face when over weight. Credibility: Very. The authors provide citations for the research study as well as other resources.

Author: Kori Ellis Date Published: April 3, 2012 Why relevant/summary: This article gives a great explanation of what ADHD is, how to treat it as well as a look at the over diagnosis of the disorder. How did this influence my thinking?: This article makes clear many aspects of ADHD that I had not thought of or known about prior to reading it. Source Credibility: Very credible. Not only did the author include relevant personal opinions but included many citations from medical professionals in many different fields of medicine.

Title:Outdoor Play Author: Johnson, Christie & Wardle Date Published: 2005 Why relevant/summary: This article is relevant because it throughly discusses the importance of physical activity to a growing toddler, specifically how outdoor play can aide in not only their physical development but how it can also be used as a tool for cognitive learning opportunities. How this influenced my thinking: This article opened my eyes to how outdoor play is not only providing play and physical activity for a young child but also many different learning opportunities that they may not experience otherwise. Credibility of Source: Very credible, the authors provided many examples as well as citations and references.

Title: White Paper: Teaching in the Zone Author: Angela Lui Date published: 2012 Why Relevant and Summary: This paper goes into amazing depth about zone proximal development as well as scaffolding. It doesn't give a generic textbook definition, but rather puts it into terms that are not only interesting but easy to understand. How this influenced my thinking: It allowed to be better understand what the textbook had already explained. I was able to see real life examples of these definitions. Credibility of source: Very credible, there were tons of references and the author appears to have done extensive research prior to writing this.

Title: Temperament and Your Child's Personality Author: LLC and Dr. Myers Date Published: 2012 Why Relevant and Summary: This article gives a great explanation of what temperament is and how is affects your child, your child's development as well as you. How This Influenced My Thinking: It helped me better understand what temperament in a child can influence development. Credibility of Source: Credible, the article by Dr. Meyers seemed to be thoroughly researched and well written in a way that was reader friendly.

Title: Co-sleeping Around The World Author: by James J. McKenna, Ph.D. Date Published: 2007 Why relevant/summary: McKenna explains the rituals around co sleeping in different cultures around the World. He goes in detail about certain cultural beliefs on the subject. How it influenced my thinking: It opened my mind to the reasoning people have for choosing to either co sleep or not to co sleep that I hadn't necessarily thought of before. Credibility of Source: Rather credible. He has a PhD and has clearly done his research on the cultures he included in his article.

How This Influenced My Thinking: It didn't really influence my thinking, however I did think that this article was full of interesting facts. Credibility of Source: A consider it fairly credible, The author has a PhD and seems very knowledgeable and gives many facts to supports her article.

The author gives many examples for each side and how nature and nurture work together. How This Influenced My Thinking: It really opened my mind to seeing both sides of the debate. Credibility of Source: This article was posted to a psychology website and contained a great number of references, I see this as a very credible source.

Author: Chaplinspeaks Date Published: March 24, 2012 Why relevant and Summary: While not necessarily referring to Bronfenbrenner's model specifically, she hit all of the same points as used in his model. She went into much more depth explaining not only the influences but also why it is likely to influence a child's development. How This Influenced My Thinking: This article didn't influence my thinking one way or another, because I found the same information in our textbook, but it did help me to understand the model in more depth because she thoroughly explained everything. Credibility of Source: I feel like this source is very credible. She has a MSW and seems to be very knowledgable and has done her research.

Title: The Alarming Reason Why More Girls are Starting Puberty Early Author: Dr. Joseph Mercola Date Published: August 26, 2010 Why Relevant and Summary: This article was relevant because it explains a great deal of information that be or may not be factors in why girls are going through puberty at much younger ages than they once were just 20 years ago. In this article, Dr. Mercola explains some of the largest factors or early onset of puberty and explains why those things may cause early childhood puberty. How This Influenced My Thinking: This didn't so much influence my thinking as it confirmed my belief that chemicals in the food our children eat may very well play a major role in when they begin puberty. Credibility of Source: I find this article to be highly credible, Dr. Mercola seems to have done extensive research on the topic as well as included the input of other knowledgeable professionals.
