Kinda of like an online Google Earth in case you can't get the real thing installed.

Okay, I've never done the "share" bit with a bookmark in Diigo. This is kind of a test, but it IS a neat site.

The Three "E's" « Ed Tech Journeys - 0 views

  •
Educators don't need to feel threatened by this because we still maintain our own ownership and accountability; but to educate the disaffected, angry, and powerless students in many of our traditional classrooms, we must open the circle of power to include the learners themselves.

It's all about empowering students to be responsible for their own learning… whether teaching them content in a class, having them explore an area of interest, or having them run a school-wide activity as part of a leadership program.

Two 'stuck' posts, a borrowed post with an added rant, and a few questions. | David Tru... - 0 views

  • All these tools are technological with only the potential to be pedagogical… but they aren’t designed with pedagogy in mind.
  • Am I the only one who feels like a 30 hour day would still be too short? Are there others out there who wonder what kind of commitment it will take for a teacher to be technologically savvy enough to meaningfully engage students with all these new tools? Are we focusing too much on the tools and not enough on pedagogy? Will educational structures change fast enough to provide our students with a relevant education? … and for that matter… What would an ideal education look like today?
  • In my comment above I mentioned ‘pedagogical merit’ and to be honest, I have been on a bit of a focus in that direction recently. What I really mean by that is finding the right tools and structures for the right job in order to meaningfully enhance learning and engage learners.

  • ‘Context‘ is where you start. ‘Scaffolding‘ is the structure(s) we build in order to increase the effectiveness of the technology use. ‘Pedagogy’ is the artful things we do to enhance learning regardless of technology use.

Classroom Innovation - Sallie Hill - BRVGS - 0 views

A cool video from a teacher about how she is innovating in her classroom. This is an application for Google Teacher Academy and was made on Animoto and uploaded to Google Video. Great job! More applications for events and organizations are moving to the video format. Knowing how to produce compelling video will help your students get scholarships and you move ahead. Learn how to tell digital stories. Oh, and I'm so excited, it looks like I'll be at Google teacher academy in June -- it is going to be great!

Emily Gould - Exposed - Blog-Post Confidential - Gawker - NYTimes.com - 0 views

Back in 2006, when I was 24, my life was cozy and safe. I had just been promoted to associate editor at the publishing house where I'd been working since I graduated from college, and I was living with my boyfriend, Henry, and two cats in a grubby but spacious two-bedroom apartment in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. I spent most of my free time sitting with Henry in our cheery yellow living room on our stained Ikea couch, watching TV. And almost every day I updated my year-old blog, Emily Magazine, to let a few hundred people know what I was reading and watching and thinking about.

14 "OTHER" Ways to Use RSS Feeds | MakeUseOf.com - 0 views

  • Undeniably RSS is one of the best things that has happened to the web after email. Not only has it made browsing a lot more productive, convenient, fun … you name it, but it has also introduced a number of new ways to interact with content that we could never have imagined before. While you’re most probably already familiar with the idea of RSS feeds and Feedreader (No? See this video) , there are several other ways you can make use of feeds.
