    Name of the site: Wordle: a word cloud generating site Brief explanation of what it allows you to do and how it can be used for essential or generative learning: By accessing the Wordle site, participants can create a word cloud from the text I have provided via e-mail. The participants will be able to create a personal word cloud that will be shared with the group as a warm-up (pre-training) activity. By providing the site, participants will engage in generative learning that will be used as a means of collaboration. Brief explanation of why this site is better than others: I had not used a word cloud creation site prior to beginning this project, but found Wordle easy to access and use. I like that there are sample clouds to view prior to creating, but also found the site easy to navigate if participants are anxious and just want to begin creating. I also selected this type of pre-training to assist with motivating participants with something that can be easily integrated into their own classroom.

    On this site, the users are able to create word clouds to assist students with learning difficult concepts. The user simply copies and pastes the passage into the box, and the image is created for him. What are considered unimportant words, such as "the" and "and," are removed from the displayed work of art. I chose this site because it is really simple to use and free. additionally, it was mentioned in the class video, and my curiosity led me to the site.

    Brief description of what it allows you to do and how it can be used for essential or generative learning: If the pre-training is intended as more of a convincing factor then Wordle can be used to exhibit testimonials and phrases that illustrate the importance of the topic you are sharing. The visuals give meaning to the words you are speaking by various colors that can be used and even sizes. Brief explanation of why you found this site to be better than others you found (e.g., more effective, creates better products, easier to use, and so on): Extremely easy to use and easy to share! I have used this before as a warm-up activity for my aP students so I think it is great.

This site will allow me to make a word cloud, something that all the participants are familiar with becasue they use them with their students already. The font , sizes, and backgrounds can be changed to match the presrntaion theme. * I looked at another word clud generation site and this one offered offered more font and color styles and was easier to use. This site would also allow you to use a website URL to create a Word Clound where the other only allowed text.

    This site is a great graphic organizer for kids. It is visually stimulating and kids like the fact that their creations are original. I would have teachers use Wordle to get kids engaged with dance vocabulary.

    Wordle is a site for generating word clouds. It can be used to introduce a topic, brainstorm ideas, or check for understanding. I have used the site before, and it allows students to become more involved in their work. I have also used Wordle to build synergy in groups. Some students, in the past, have created their own word clouds by using their inventive, artistic talents without the use of the software.

    With Wordle, a person can paste in the text they want to create a word cloud from and click "Go" to create it. The user has control over the fonts, colors, and shapes the word cloud takes. Wordle could be used to create a word cloud to peak participant interest in the topic of the workshop. For instance, I might choose to create a word cloud using text that describes what Web 2.0 is. Sharing that word cloud before my workshop would give my workshop participants a preview of what they will be learning about.  This site is easy to use and has received numerous positive reviews.

    This site allows you to create your own word clouds. This is a great way to get learners to engage using their own vocabulary terms for their lessons. This may even be a great way for the instructor to display vocabulary in the classroom.

    Word Clouds will allow for providing prior exposure to vocabulary in the presentation that participants may be unfamiliar with. I chose this website over other word cloud creating sites because of its capabilities to change its fonts, colors, and layout while highlighting the frequently used words in the text you provide. They also provide the ability to print, save, or share the word cloud images created.

    * Wordle is a "word cloud" generator from text that you provide giving greater prominence to words that appear more frequently in the source text. The clouds can be tweaked with different fonts, layouts, and color schemes, and the images can either be printed out or saved to the Wordle gallery to share with others online. The most notable function is the collaboration function that allows the sharing or co-creating of a mindmap. This organizer can be completed by the audience member pertaining to the presentation material in a manner that makes sense to them. Brief explanation of why you found this site to be better than others you found (e.g., more effective, creates better products, easier to use, and so on): I have used this with my students and received positive feedback. I have even used it for some Walden assignments and feel it is user friendly and designed to promote collaboration.

This site promotes generative learning because it helps participants organize ideas for future learning. I selected this site because it makes it easy for you to quickly start planning and sorting out their ideas through the use of linked text bubbles.

I like this site becasue the mind maps are very easy to create and they are simple in design. Simplicity for the primary teachers is always a plus, because they like to use the infomation with their students as well.

    Bubbl.us - This website allows the user to create graphic organizers that can be saved on the site. The user can have up to three different GOs at t time for free. It is very simple to use and I have used it with my gifted second graders before and they picked up on it quickly. It has the option to change to colors of the "bubbles"and change the font of the text. The completed mind map can be printed or exported to another site to share with others.

It can be used before a workshop to create a blank or partially filled in graphic organizer for participants to fill in as the workshop progresses, which would help them to pay attention to the content being presented. Personally, I have found this tool easy and fun to use. In fact, I used it to create the graphic organizer for the workshop I am creating.

    Bubbl.us is an online graphic organizer that allows one to arrange bubbles in a manner that illustrates relationships. although it is online, you can export your graphic, print it directly from the application, or save it for future use. as a Flash-based application, Bubbl.us is not necessarily the perfect solution for all computer users, especially apple users. However, the application overall is quite strong and useful, either as a trainer resource for organizing content, or as a participant resource, used as a means for them to take notes or organize the information they are presented.

    This site allows you to create up to 3 pages for free of mind maps. The easy to use set-up uses icons to demonstrate its repetitive yet graphic portrayal of content. I have used this site for all of my concept maps at Walden. It is easy to create and export as a jpg to be uploaded onto a web page, blog or wiki. It stores the working model on the site until it is deleted by the user.

    Bubbl.us is a site that allows users to create webs, or mind maps. a hierarchy is created by color-coding the bubbles on each level. The site allows collaboration, as well. Sheets can be shared with other people, who then have the ability to either view or edit the mind map, depending on the permission granted by the creator. Once completed, the mind map can be printed or exported as an image or an outline. This site can help encourage generative learning by providing a medium for learners to visualize connections between key terms and concepts. It is more user friendly that other similar sites. The ease of color coding and outline creation make it better than other sites, as well.

Hyperlinks can also be added to bubbles to link to outside information. These features will be helpful to provide important information outside of the basic connections shown through the graphic organizer. It is easy to use, edit, and share for mind mapping and sharing gained knowledge throughout the workshop.

    Bubble.us (https://bubbl.us/) is a great site to build graphic organizers in. The site allows the user to download, print, save and share them online with others. The site is easy to use and navigate which means that the user can be creating dynamic graphic organizers in little time. The site is free but does all for upgrades which allow the user more customization options. This site is better than Inspiration because it allows for the online component the user can share the graphic organizer with others and allow them the ability to manipulate or change the organizer or just view depending on the needs of the user.

    Prezi allows a user to create a presentation that encompasses many of the same features of programs like PowerPoint. However, the presentation style of the elements follows more of a mind map design rather than a linear slideshow. The presentation tool is housed online, can be access for free, and makes it easy to integrate various forms of multimedia. The tools available at Prezi are advantageous for developing stylish online presentations and for facilitating continued review of materials, non-linear formats for reasoning, and building connections among concepts. Prezi can promote both essential and generative processing by allowing users/viewers to independently explore and develop connections among concepts.

    This is a great presentation tool, allowing user to create and share presentation online and offline. Prezi is one of the pest presentation tools I have found, as it allows the import of various multimedia materials, including PowerPoint slides, images, videos, pdf files. also, it facilitates the creation of storylines using frames. The site also includes access to millions of prezis created by other users on various topics.

    Prezi (http://prezi.com/) allows the user to create a dynamic presentation using words, pictures, special relationships and movement to create an interactive presentation. Prezi's can be downloaded or saved on in the users account until the presentation. The user can also allow others to view their presentation or keep them private. Prezi is a free site in which interactive presentations are made possible. Prezi is much more dynamic than a PowerPoint presentation and as long as you have internet access you do not have to worry about the computer you are using having the same version of PowerPoint.

    Unlike most presentation software, Prezi does a good job of organizing and sharing ideas, while drawing a clear connection between content. When explaining production elements it helps to be able to see the whole picture from script to distribution. Prezi offers the ability to focus on each part and zoom out to view the full picture.

    * I found Prezi to be better than other presentation websites because it is more effective at creating engaging presentations and works from any device with Internet browsing capabilities, which will enhance the possibilities for teachers in my workshop to utilize different mobile devices during my presentation.

I chose this site because it was very user friendly with some Office features.

Wikispace is a great website because I can create a page to upload a survey/questionnaire to determine the knowledge of the participants. also a chat session/blog will be created so the learners can receive feedback on their questions.

    Because my workshop is about Using Wikis in Education, the authentic assessment for my workshop participants will be to create a wiki for their professional/classroom use. Wikispaces will be used to house my own presentation so it will serve as an exemplar for what they are expected to produce. By creating their own wikis, participants will demonstrate generative learning because they will need to organize and apply their learning to create their own authentic project utilizing a rubric. I chose this site because it is user friendly and produces an attractive product. additionally, Wikispaces has excellent video tutorials to demonstrate how to use the site.

(Mayer, 2009, p. 13) Using this website, workshop participants can see how easy it is to create a wiki page for them and for their students to create. Mayer considers behavioral activity to be hands-on. Since this website will be used for hands -on activity, creating a wikispace, this website should be considered behavioral.

    This site allows users to host free wiki that can be public or private. This is a great service for students and teachers. It is easy to use (compared to other wiki sites) and it allows the publisher to have a lot of control of content, editing and privacy. Students could use this to create a large graphic organizer that they could all participate in editing.

    I have used a number of different wiki sites but find Wikispaces the most user friendly and intuitive one - great qualities from a user perspective. They also offer timely support if needed. I would highly recommend it.

    Wikispaces is an online wiki hosting site. Users can collaborate to create a variety of products using a variety of media including text, pictures, links, and videos. Teachers can create teams to collaborate on authentic projects. The wiki is not what makes the assessment authentic, it is what the teacher and learners do with the wiki that allows it to provide an authentic learning experience. Wikispaces is a great site to create wikis because it is intuitive and easy to use. It tracks each change and allows members to view previous edits, and restore old versions, if needed. Wikispaces can promote generative processing by providing a space and opportunity for learners to integrate the content into an authentic product. It is better than other similar sites because it provides so many options and features for contributors, but it is still user friendly.

This web site accomplishes the learner-centered approach. The web site focuses on using multimedia technology as an aid to human cognition (Mayer, p. 13 2009). It uses film clips to demonstrate the practical applications of various mathematical concepts to real life situations. I had to look through a large number of presentations before I could find something that had both the content and quality for which I was searching. This site is a good resource for essential learning as it can provide new information in both auditory and visual forms to be processed into the working memory.     You Tube- This website allows a presenter to create a video or power point and upload it to the Internet for anyone to view. Most videos are simple to upload though uploading power points are a bit more tricky. This video sharing site allows the presentor to share information that is necessary for the course participants to know before the course begins. I like this as a pretraining site because it is easy to access in most locations. However most K-12 educational facilities block this site due to some inappropraite submissions. Course participants must make sure that they are able to access You Tube prior to the beginning of the course.

I think teachers would benefit from the many demonstrations and examples of Student Response Systems being used during my workshop.     This site is a great tool for uploading and sharing videos. Youtube is industry standard for video sharing. It is reliable, offers multiple formats uploads and offers privacy. I would recommend that teachers use this site to upload final dance video projects or use Just Dance videos on the site to have student analyze other dancers. I would not recommend comments unless the user approved them first.

However, it may be best to send out the links to learners in advance so they are not overloaded or misinformed. This site has proven to be a great place for the discerning learner to find valuable "how-to" advice and instructions. I fixed my automatic sliding door on the family minivan for free the other day!

Why it's better: YouTube provides a user-friendly interface that most are familiar with. Since YouTube is a part of Google, all items are synced with your Google account. While there are many other free video creation tools available, YouTube truly does provide an easier experience.

It's ability to insert hyperlinks to the bubbles in the organizers encouraged me to use it in the pre-training module of my workshop. In the general case, it can be used in all the modules. Webspiration allows for generative learning becasue the participants would be actively involved with the creation. I like this site becasue it is free. The webs can be embedded into blogs and the webs can be worked on collaboratively in a group. I plan to use some collaborative grouping during my presentation. Participants can also view the visual in an outline form for easier construction of the web.

    What it does: This has a wealth of resources to learn "how to" do a number of tasks. Why this one? In providing pre-training for certain tasks, why re-invent the wheel? Why create a new "how to use xyz" when that video probably already exists on Teachertube. Youtube is also an option, but I prefer Teachertube since it is more teacher/education oriented. Consequently, the content, flow, and logic may be more educationally sound than the general public who posts on YouTube. Learning benefit: For essential learning, learners have a large database of short training sessions and can learn many essential basics for pre-training needs.

    Teacher Tube is a online sharing site that hosts video, photographs, documents and audio files that cater to an educational environment. The format is much like You Tube. Files can be easily shared/embedded on a variety of sites. Once you investigate these resources for the content and quality that you are searching, they prove to be a great way to promote essential learning. I chose this site because, like You Tube, there are some high quality videos available. Rather than reinventing the wheel, the busy educator has ready-made resources at his/her fingertips. You Tube is blocked in my school organization so Teacher Tube is a comparable resources and it is controlled for inappropriate language and controlled for inappropriate language and content.

    This site is a great resource for teachers and students alike. It is a safe and reliable site that provides educational videos that are appropriate for students of all ages. The site is a safe alternative to Youtube but it is not as well known among the student population. I would recommend this site to teachers in my workshop to upload videos of completed dance projects. It is also a great place for students to make comments.

    TeacherTube is a video sharing website with the same features as YouTube, but for educators. Unfortunately, in many school districts by content filtering systems, YouTube has been blocked due to some of the content that can be accessed on the site. TeacherTube allows educators and students the ability to access various educational videos, documents, blogs, groups, photos, and audio to utilize and share in the classroom while at school. Many of these educational resources can be used as pre-training materials to a workshop, such as with my workshop on storytelling; I would show a short video about what PBL means as a means to introduce participants to the concept and to explain that they will be using PBL to design their own storytelling lesson. TeacherTube is much easier to access while at school than YouTube, which is why I feel TeacherTube is a better working tool for educators to use rather than attempting to access YouTube videos.

It is a simple free website that allows you to choose from a long list of pre-created categories. Final products can be downloaded and further enhance in a word processing program. The rubric created will be an example of essential learning because through the rubric the leaner will have better understanding of what is required of their digital story.

    Rubistar is a free site that allows the user to either create their own rubric or view and adapt an existing rubric. The library of existing rubrics is lengthy and best searched by topic and date. I have utilized the site many times to create a rubric for PBL lessons and real life lessons taught within the curriculum. I prefer this site over others as it is easy to use and provides the option for a printed hard copy to be used during the project.

There are many templates to choose from allowing the teacher to make more informed choices for assessment.

    Glogster is an alternative to the typical two-dimensional posters and PowerPoints that have been the staple of research projects for years. "Glogs" are posters that students can create online to demonstrate their learning about a variety of topics using many different types of media to present their information. This tool definitely allows for active cognitive learning as students are able to choose not only the content to add to their Glog, but also the forms of media to be used on that Glog. The student can choose to use video, sound, pictures, and many other media forms to present content, but they have to remember not to overcrowd their Glog with too much information or too much media.

    Voki is a online site that allows the learner to create their own speaking avatar. Once the avatar is created, there is an opportunity to demonstrate generative learning by creating speech for the avatar. The speech can be recorded by one's own voice or done through a text to speech tool. In my project, this will be a way for workshop participants to use generative learning to apply their learning to creating their own project. They will post an avatar on their wiki to entice learners to use it, giving purpose and features that will make the wiki useful to the participant. I chose this site for many reasons. although it is very simple to use, it requires a high level of creativity that is engaging for learners. The product is high quality and is able to be shared via email and different online environments.

    Vokis are customizable avatars for use in the classroom. a lesson does not have to consist of a large amount of time, which makes Vokis valuable for sharing mini-lessons or instructions with students. The teacher's voice (or student's) may be recorded and combined with text-based instructions be used to teach a list of vocabulary words, give instructions, or even as individualized greeting for students when they login to their computer. Vokis can be stored on a wiki to reduce the burden on a school's server and are safe to share (as long as the students does not share any specific information about themselves) because they do not show the child's face. Vokis are fun for students and encourage their oral language development in a non-threatening way.

    I've never used mindmeister, but I love the addition of the larger graphics. Larger graphics offers variety and improves users ability to visually differentiate items. Graphic organizers offer a unique way to introduce topics without overwhelming learners. Interesting graphics and text create visual interest for prelearning. I've only used Freemind for mindmap projects with school, and their graphics are small in relation.

    o Mindmeister is a mind mapping and online collaboration tool that allows learners to organize their thoughts by creating mind maps. a group of learners can collaborate on a single mind map to come up with a final product, and they can do so in real time. They can add text, graphics, links, notes, etc. to fully develop and present their ideas. In addition, learners can save final product in various formats to embed them in their projects. The interaction learners have with the content to organize it into a visual representation (as supported by Mindmeister) is the perfect example of generative processing or using cognitive processes to make sense of the material (Mayer, 2009). For English Language Learners, this tool allows learners to show what they understand even when they may not have enough English to write a paper on a particular concept/topic. o The site is easy to use and creates a clean and organized product. Some mapping programs can yield such complex products that are very hard to follow. In addition, I enjoy the ability to work offline because teachers and students alike might not always have internet handy. Finally, this is one of the few programs available not only for pc, but also for mobile and tablet.

    Xtranormal was one of the featured websites in the programs for Module 3. It is a very easy to use website to create videos. I used it to create the directions for the pre-training activity. In order to create a video you simply type in your script, select your character, background, camera angles, and character movements. This text to speech website is an example of generative learning because it simplifies the expectations for the participants.

If could be used to create custom graphic organizers for your presentation and easily shared with the participants through Google Docs or a simple .jpg. Webspiration allows for the create to generate their own customized graphic organizer, many of the other graphic organizer websites do not allow you to customize them. This is an example of essential learning since the learner organizes their new learning in a way that is best for them, thus moving the learning into the working memory.

    This site allows the user to create a slide show presetnation from anywhere without having to use PowerPoint. The only thing needed is a web browser and this is compatible with IE 7, Firfox and Camino. What I liked best about this site is its ease of use and that all members can work on the same presentation at the same time. also, there is no limit to the number or length of the presentation. You even have 250MB to store photos.

    What it does: It is a simplified version of Power Point allowing a user to create slides. Why this one: It is free and easy to use. It is also web-based so that teachers do not need to copy it into folders, files, or CDs. The recurring theme that I have tried to maintain is the need for simplicity and efficient use of time. Creating multimedia presentations are but a small fraction of the enormous number of jobs a teacher must complete. This application, while more limited than Power Point, does allow teachers to complete a project in less time. Learning benefits: Teachers can quickly create a number of messages for essential learning using this package. as well, they can incorporate mind maps, graphic organizers, or other tools to expand the learning process into generative thinking.

The site offers very little in terms of how-to information, and it is primarily at the generative level of cognitive processing, focusing on creating and applying the tool. However, it is a very simple interface, much like PowerPoint stripped down to the basics. Its advantages are ease-of-use, share-ability, privacy options, and the ability to download presentations.

Even if the teacher assigns the topic to the student, it is still up to the student to choose which items to put in the box. I can see this tool working for Social Studies teachers as a way for their students to present what they have learned about a particular topic, but I can also see it being useful in my English Language arts classroom as a way for my students to present information about the time period in which a novel occurs.
