    What it is: Google Sites provides free websites or wikis for users. These sites can be used for anything from ePortfolios to business websites. Why it's better: Google provides streamline accessibility across all of their services. Therefore navigation is natural to most users. Websites can be created by individuals or groups and collaboration is seamless with Google Drive.

    What it is: Edmodo is a free learning management system embedded with social networking. Educators can create groups for students and assign assessments for students to submit within the site. It also allows users to create personal learning networks. Why it's better: Edmodo's design and layout has the feel of Facebook which makes it accessible to a larger audience. Very little pre-training is required for new-users as many of the components are familiar.

    What it is: Prezi is an online presentation software that allows collaboration among multiple users to create unique multimedia presentations. Why it's better: Instead of a traditional slide presentation, Prezi provides a platform to create presentations that are as creative as each individual user. Images, sounds, videos, and text can all be mixed together to create the most effective presentation possible.

    What it is: Zoho Notebook is a free multimedia presentation tool that allows users to create multi-paged presentations using images, text, and/or live websites. Why it's better: This presentation site offers and drag-and-drop interface that makes creating presentations very simple. The creation process is conducted within a cloud which allows collaboration among multiple users within the same presentation. Audio and video can be recorded directly into the presentation using a webcam and microphone. In addition, the final presentation can be downloaded so it can be viewed without internet access.

    What it is: Gliffy is an online diagraming software that provides users with an easy drag-and-drop feature for creating graphic organizers. Multiple themes and templates are available to help get users started, or users may create diagrams from scratch. Why it's better: There are several graphic organizing software available online. However, Gliffy is integrated with Google Drive which allows users to create diagrams from anywhere. In addition, they provide an optional wiki plug-in to make the graphic organizers editable within an individual's or organization's wiki.

The availability of different tools allows this site to meet the needs of an assortment of multimedia formats. Why it's better: This site provides several options for graphic organizers. Some, teachers can make beforehand, while others are intended for students to create during lessons. The different formats available for graphic organizers align themselves to meet multiple needs.¬

    What it is: YouTube provides millions of free videos on every topic imaginable. However, in addition to finding videos, YouTubes new video editor allows users to create their own videos as well. Why it's better: YouTube provides a user-friendly interface that most are familiar with. Videos, images, sounds, text, and photos can all be combined to create instant videos that provide prior knowledge to students. All videos under 15 minutes are free. Since YouTube is a part of Google, all items are synced with your Google account. While there are many other free video creation tools available, YouTube truly does provide an easier experience.

    What it is: Tiki-Toki provides a free timeline creator that allows users to create original and creative timelines on any subject matter. Why it's better: Tiki-Toki is a web-based software that requires no prior downloading. With a premium subscription, users may collaborate on a single timeline. In addition, the software allows users to insert images, sounds, and/or videos into their timelines. Users can create multiple categories using different color schemes all within the same timeline. Timelines may also be embedded into individual websites for easy access.
