Jing is a free screen casting software available from Tech Smith. Jing allows users to make up to five-minute screen casts that can be used for tutorials and presentations. Jing is useful in both essential and generative learning process.

Audacity is a free audio editor and recorder that is compatible on many platforms (Mac and PC). This software allows a user to record live audio as well as edit recorded audio. Audacity can aid the generative learning process, as it will allow users to organize and integrate what they have learned into an audio file.

Just as with Go Animate, Xtranormal is applicable to the essential and generative learning processes. Xtranormal allows a user to organize and integrate what he/she has learned into a short animated cartoon. Xtranormal allows users to create fully animated video cartoons to represent learned materials. Videos on Xtranormal are easily created, stored, and shared.

Go Animate is a web application that allows users to make video representations of learning material or to showcase what has been learned. This application allows the user to create fully animated video cartoons complete with text to audio features. The application can be used for both essential and generative learning. It is particularly useful in the generative process as it allows the user to integrate learned materials in a creative manner.

Bubbl.us is a free web application that allows users to create an interactive web based graphic organizer. As with other graphic organizers, Bubbl.us will aid the generative process and allow users to organize and categorize what is being learned at a given time.

* Webspiration allows a teacher to create a free Webspiration classroom. The site allows users to create collaborative mind maps that lend themselves to generative learning.

Wordle would be an effective pre-training tool. The web site allows the user to input text and generate a word cloud representing the key words within the text.

Voki is a great multimedia website that will allow students to create talking avatars depicting themselves or historical figures.  I will use this site in my presentation wiki on infusing mulitmedia in a history class.

Picturing Modern America 1880-1920 is designed for those teachers focusing on American history from 1880-1920.  The site is very much focused on learner-centered learning.  Students must investigate history by drawing from clues in historical photos.  I will utilize this site in my presentation wiki focused on infusing mulitmedia in a history classroom.

The Library of Congress website has a vast array of multimedia artifacts that fosters cognitive activity and active engagement.  There are various multimedia artifacts utilized by the Library of Congress including text, pictures, audio, and video materials.
