The Advantages and Disadvantages of Automated Trading Systems - The open write - 0 views

  •
An automated trading system is what? Automated trading systems, also known as algorithmic trading, automated trading, or system trading, let traders set up particular rules for trade entry and exits that, once programmed, can be carried out automatically by a computer. In reality, according to a number of platforms, automatic trading systems account for 70% to 80% or more of the shares traded on U.S. stock exchanges.

These resources and training materials will be very helpful for individuals beginning to use interwrite workspace. I especially like the beginning videos found at http://www.einstruction.com/support_downloads/training/workspace.html# These are the most applicable videos to my school system and the 21st century classrooms that we currently have. I chose to use the interwrite technology because this is what we use in my school system.

The Solar System - Astronomy For Kids - KidsAstronomy.com - 0 views

  •
This is one of two sites that I will be using in my Graphic Organizer and Presentation. This site is a compilation of various astronomy resources, games, and presentations for kids. I love it because it has very bright graphics and is easy to navigate. This will be the introduction to the Solar System which will give the students information to use in their authentic assessment. They can view this via my laptop with the LCD Projector and a large screen. Although it will be a visual or graphic, it will also be part of the presentation. The graphic organizer will be the actual tabs that will show pictures of the different planets and then we will click on each planet to view more information which will be needed in the authentic assessment. This also is a site which I have been familiar with, more recently when I received my interactive whiteboard. This site appears to be much more technology centered, where it is designed to be used with the interactive boards and student response systems. BrainPop.com is also partner with the Promethean Company, where many of its features are accessible using their products. As you navigate through the subject areas, each lesson begins with a short video and provides additional resources such as games, printable handouts and a short quiz. There also are sites for K-3 and ESL learners. The technology used to present this site to students (interactive whiteboards, student response systems) was developed prior to this site, although it is possible to integrate this in others ways to students (centers, whole group using a projector) but it is clear this site was directly designed and developed with the technology in mind first.

A Course Management System for educators.
  •
Moodle is an open source Learning Management System. It allows educators the opportunity to develop online courses, or to augment their traditional face-to-face course. Activity modules can be created around particular content. Also, Moodle offers various tools for authentic assessment, which may include quizzes, forums, and assignments. Because the workshop will focus on the use of Moodle, the selection of Moodle for authentic assessment activities was an appropriate one.

The Value of Multimedia in Llearning - 1 views

  •
My multimedia project title is is How to Utilize Multimedia to Create Effective Instructions. The Value of Multimedia in Learning written by Shank (2005) outlined the benefits of multimedia in learning. A well-designed multimedia presentation helps learners build more accurate and effective mental models than they do from text alone. Shephard synthesized studies showing potential benefits of well-designed multimedia, including: (Shephard, (n.d) as cited in Shank 2005, p.4). A well constructed multimedia presentation can definitively be identified as learner-centered approach to learning. Mayer (2008) also describes potential benefits of multimedia. Given that humans possess visual and auditory information processing capabilities, multimedia, he explains, takes advantage of both capabilities at once. In addition, these two channels process information quite differently, so the combination of multiple media is useful in calling on the capabilities of both systems. Meaningful connections between text and graphics potentially allow for deeper understanding and better mental models than from either alone. Shank, P. (2005). The value of multimedia in learning. Supports on line training with Learning Management Systems that supports online training with difference levels of granularity and formalization. The focus of the article is on automation in some aspects of the designed process, execution and assessment, to interpretation and management of knowledge. The article examine the conditions for a cooperative dialogue wherein the conditions are formulated in into a learning design with a complex and holistic vision of learning and how those conditions are realized in an e-learning system. dall'Acqua, L. Assignment, Module 3 - Edmodo.com is a free, secure, social learning site for classrooms.  It is a blogging-type platform that allows users to share ideas, post questions, polls, files, links, and other assignments.  Students can create an avatar for responding to the assignment.  It also allows for mobile access and messaging.  It includes a class calendar, a grading application, and RSS feeds.  Educators can set up a secure site for each class or learning unit.  It can be employed in a  synchronous or asynchronous format.   Also, it includes a teacher connections forum.

    * Edmodo is a social networking/learning management system tool for students and teachers to engage and personalize learning, connect with resources, and measure progress. It can be used for essential or generative learning through participation in discussion threads, learning groups and communities, delivery of content for assignments and resources, and taking tests and quizzes. * I found Edmodo to be better than other authentic assessment activity resources because many teachers use it as a learning management system, it is easy to use and provides a safe and secure online classroom environment that is free. Edmodo also provides the capability of interfacing assignment and assessments with other web resources.

Windows Live Movie Maker in the classroom - 2 views

  •
Site with video and text to describe how to create video presentations for the classroom . . . for student and teacher self-created videos
  •
The Microsoft Movie maker site uses cogitative activity to teach learners how to create multimedia presentations. This site supports the learning needs by using audio and imagery when students create and share their movies. Mayer (2010) is a strong believer that verbal and visual representation is essential to process and organize data. In using Mayer's dual channel system the system uses the learner-centered approach since the design features are simple (2010).
