Holt Interactive Graphic Organizers This site has pre-made graphic organizers that students can fill in. There are different organizers for different types of brainstorming. This site would be best for lower elementary school students or for students who need more assistance (EIP or Sp. Ed.) The PDF document is easy to download and add text to the sections of the organizer. This site also allows for printing a hard copy or the ability to save the filled in GO to be shared later.

With this website, participants can create graphic organizers online with premade PDFs. Graphic organizers can be saved. Participants are able to choose which graphic organizer is best for them.

This site shows different graphic organizers and their perspective names that can be used to organize information and how the information can be organized. I especially like this site and how you can actually click on each organizer to use for future use.

Brief description of what it allows you to do and how it can be used for essential or generative learning: This site is awesome for creating mindmaps using a software that runs on multiple platforms and is adjustable when viewed. The most notable function is the collaboration function that allows the sharing or co-creating of a mindmap. This organizer can be completed by the audience member pertaining to the presentation material in a manner that makes sense to them. Brief explanation of why you found this site to be better than others you found (e.g., more effective, creates better products, easier to use, and so on): I have used this with my students and received positive feedback. I have even used it for some Walden assignments and feel it is user friendly and designed to promote collaboration.

A free, web-based graphic organizer. It is easy to use and share. I am using this as a way to organize the workshop and provide a visual for the teachers to have and understand the goals/timeline of the training.

Bubble.us is an online mind map that allows users to collaborate on brainstorming. Users can share their mindmap with others and provide access to read or edit. As content is added the mindmap takes on a new shape and cells can be color coded. Another feature of bubbl.us is for users to import work that has been saved on their computer or embed their mindmap. Bubbl.us can be used for pre-training which supports essential learning. I found this site to be more useful for collaborativebrainstorming .

Webspiration allows the user to create various forms of mindmaps with unlimited design features. The website allows users to work individually or collaboratively online. It also gives you the opportunity to visualize your ideas creatively. All work can also be downloaded and printed if needed. I chose this site because it is very user friendly and can keep the learners interested with its hands-on capabilities.

This site allows you to create custom graphic organizers. There are many templates and lots of clip art to choose from. I like this site because you can upload your graphic organizer as a word document or save it to a web page that others can access.

For those of you familiar with the software Inspiration, this is a web version with some of the same options. This is a mind mapping tool that helps you "capture ideas, organize information, collaborate and share your work, and create diagrams.

Webspiration is a teacher friendly site that contains a vast array of graphic organizers, diagrams, writing organizers and many others. This site is typically used in grades 5-12. With many options, students and/or teacher are able to find an organizer that suits their project or essay. This site is easy to use and is effective in assisting students in independently developing their graphic organizer. 

Webspiration offers collaboration and graphic organizer software for classroom or professional use. Webspiration has free subscriptions available as well as subscriptions for purchase. I found it to be easy to use and share.

Online graphic organizer creation tool. Great for generative learning processes helping students make connections to prior learning. Explanation of choice: Recommended because it is online, free, and unlike other tools, no signup is required.

Gliffy provides users with an online interface for creating flowcharts, diagrams, and other graphic organizers. This site allows users to either choose from predesigned templates or to build graphic organizers from scratch. The diagrams can be easily saved as .jpeg files or published to the Internet. This online interface makes is possible for users to visually depict essential material and then develop the necessary connections for generative processing. This website is better than other sites that offer access to graphic organizers because users have the choice between preformatted templates and creating their own diagrams. In addition, users are responsible for inputting the relevant information related to their project. In addition, this website allows users to create their diagrams on the computer rather than simply printing off templates and completing them by hand.

Gliffy allows users to create custom graphic organizers. Starting with a basic design, users can edit the graphic organizer to fit their needs, based on the content. Customization includes additional boxes, connections, or color. A teacher could also begin to fill in the graphic organizer with major topics or key terms. With a pro account, users can add collaborators or publish the graphic organizer to the web. Gliffy can contribute to essential and generative processing by allowing learners to manage and organize the information being presented to them. It is better than other similar sites because it allows the user to customize the graphic organizer to the needs created by the content.

What it does: There are 36 different graphic organizers that teachers and students can print and use. Why this one: This site has 36 different graphic organizers for which permission is granted for educators to reproduce and utilize. The variety of organizers covers a large realm of different possibilities for different project. Learning benefits: Teachers can use these for themselves as well as students and could generate a great deal of ideas on how to incorporate into a multimedia method. The conversion from paper to electronic would serve two purposes - generative learning of creating an electronic version and the graphic organization of the lesson.

Eduplace provides free graphic organizers that users can modify to fit their needs. These graphic organizers promote essential learning because it aids in the organization of content. I chose this site because of its wide variety of graphic organizer types and because it was part of a reputable organization, Houghton Mifflin publishers.

The website also provides the viewer with information on the benefits of using graphic organizers. Also, the website provides links to software that can be use in creating different types of organizers. This website could also be used on as pre-training for creating graphic organizers and other technology aspects of a multimedia workshop. A graphic organizer can be used in conjunction with a lesson to help the student and/or participant organizer the material. Mayer (2010) discusses generative learning as a way to help make sense of the material. The Graphic organizer can help sort the wealth of information provided throughout the work shop.

On this site, users are able to create customizable mind maps. Multiple formats are available to save the product. Additionally, other users are able to modify the created the mind map. I chose this site because of the control the user has with the product and the collaboration possibilities.

This website provides a way to create creative graphic organizers to make connections with prior and new learning. Students are then able to "see" connections with the color coding of information. The organizer can be completed prior to the lesson and broken down into pieces and archived into the slides using Interwrite. Bubbl.us is technology centered because content is entered into the text boxed. Then the students print out their mind map. The mind map helps students to choose what is important to remember because of the limited capacity of working memory. (Mayer, 2008)

Spaaze is a free online tool that offers a virtual endless desktop onto which a variety of information containers can be placed. Virtual hotspots can be created for quick maneuvering to critical locations. Also, documents, images, and videos can be linked to or uploaded directly, depending on the type of or degree of service being utilized (free, pay as you go, or subscription). While this is a form of graphic organizer, it does not utilize links between content objects. Rather, like objects are simply placed next to each other somewhere on the virtual desktop. Such items could be considered grouped or arranged in such a manner that would mimic the organization found in most graphic organizers or mind maps. The tool could be useful for students to organize information in a free-form format, which could help foster their organizational skills and develop essential cognitive processing skills. In sum, the tool could be useful for a variety of applications and needs and offers a drag-and-drop method of storage and organization; which could take on unique characteristics per the preferences of each user.

The site offers teachers free organizers to help them brainstorm, organize, and visualize their instructional ideas. \nWhy this one: First, the user downloads the vocabulary organizer. Next, the user inputs the information onto the form and prints it out. In addition, the website has free teaching lesson plan notes accompanying each organizer. It is free and very easy to use. The graphic organizer is a great instructional tool for generative learning.

SmartDraw offers a free Graphic Organizer Tool that allows users to edit graphic organizers. This resource is available as a free download, initially. This is a useful resource because it promotes essential learning by allowing users to organize their thoughts. It can also promote generative learning as users manipulate the graphic organizers to illustrate their understanding of specific topics. I chose this resource because it allows users to easily edit the graphic organizers.

The site provides content area, higher order thinking, multiple intelligences, lesson planning, math, reading, thematic units and writing organizers in pdf format. This site allows instructors to create a variety of graphic organizers to fit their instructional goals.  The task seems simple, but the variety may become overwhelming.  However, a graphic organizer allows learners to organize more than just information on a sheet.  It allows them to organize information in their mind.

The template library provides many different kinds of examples that provide curriculum activities for essential or generative learning including prioritizing information, extending understanding of important concepts, project planning, drawing conclusions, making connections to other ideas, and making inferences.
* I found MindMeister to be better than other online graphic organizer websites due to the ease of use, variety of templates available, and it is free to create up to three maps at a time.

o Mindmeister is a mind mapping and online collaboration tool that allows learners to organize their thoughts by creating mind maps. A group of learners can collaborate on a single mind map to come up with a final product, and they can do so in real time. They can add text, graphics, links, notes, etc. to fully develop and present their ideas. In addition, learners can save final product in various formats to embed them in their projects. The interaction learners have with the content to organize it into a visual representation (as supported by Mindmeister) is the perfect example of generative processing or using cognitive processes to make sense of the material (Mayer, 2009). For English Language Learners, this tool allows learners to show what they understand even when they may not have enough English to write a paper on a particular concept/topic. o The site is easy to use and creates a clean and organized product. Some mapping programs can yield such complex products that are very hard to follow. In addition, I enjoy the ability to work offline because teachers and students alike might not always have internet handy. Finally, this is one of the few programs available not only for pc, but also for mobile and tablet.

This is an online graphic organizer creation website. This website allows for users to share and edit the organizer in real-time, like in Google Docs. The graphic organizer can also be exported to wikis and blogs. The sharing feature and real-time editing features is what makes this graphic organizer website stand out from others. It is an example of essential learning since it allows the material being presented to be organized by the participant in their own way so that the new learning can make it to the working memory.

This is a great free site for collaborative learning with graphic organizers. It is great for allowing participants to work simultaneously on graphic organizers at the same time.

This is an excellent collaborative brainstorming tool for creating a mind map. This could be excellent for PreTraining or for a graphic organizer. Imagine your class having this open while you present key information, and they create their mind map of your concepts.

Bubbl us is a graphic organizer used to organize ideas. As I viewed the site, I thought I could offer this to my students who might be intimidated by the use of graphic organizers on the web. Using this site might reduce the extraneous process because the goal is to organize thoughts not learn a new tool.
