* Brief Description:  Edmodo is a suite of tools that allows for threaded discussions, quizzes, assignments, and more that is specifically designed for education.     * Brief Explanation: My workshop is based on instructing the participants how to use Edmodo in the classroom.  An appropriate authentic assessment would have them creating their own material in Edmodo.          

* Brief Description:  Through Google Drive, I can create an authentic assessment as a document and then share it with participants.  Participants are able to access the document, make a copy of their own to add in their own information and notes.   * Brief Explanation: I like the easy sharing ability of Google Drive and how I can have access to all of the participants'' assessments on my computer and not have to juggle a pile of paper.        

* Brief Description: Audacity allows for high quality recording with different editing functions.  Allows for simple recording and for more complex mixing and editing.       * Brief Explanation: I like how easy it is to edit and record with Audacity and then be able to add the recordings to the screen captures created through Camtasia.      

* Brief Description: Camtasia is a screen recording and video editing software that allows for a high quality of screen recording and the ability to add special effects and edit.  You can also add in other media and share high-quality videos with others.     * Brief Explanation: It is user friendly and gives you the ability to add audio recorded through Audacity.  I also appreciate the high quality videos it produces.    

* Brief Description: CutePDF allows you to turn documents into pdfs through the print feature in any program on your computer.     * Brief Explanation: It is very easy for me to turn word documents that I have created as handouts into pdfs to share online.  

* Brief Description: A screen capture tool that allows you to edit images and add effects to them.  With the Snagit editor you can save it in a variety of different formats and easily add images that have been enhanced by text to create eye catching handouts.   * Brief Explanation: I really enjoy using the wide variety of editing features available in Snagit.  I find it very easy to use and use it regularly.  

* Brief Description: Allows you to create graphic organizers and templates that can be shared with others.  People can access shared templates and make a copy of it.  People can also collaborate in real time to create templates and graphic organizers. * Brief Explanation: I find it easy to use and like the real time collaboration features as well as the ability to easily share and embed.  

* Brief Description: A variety of different graphic organizers that have already been created and are organized by purpose.  The graphic organizers can be downloaded with the feature to add text to enter in your own information to be saved for later use and printed.   * Brief Explanation: The graphic organizers all have a very clean design without extraneous information.   I also really like the feature that you can type directly into the graphic organizers.  

Edmodo will be used during the class to give the participants a hands-on approach to learning the tool. Participants will be engaged on a behavioral and cognitive level using this tool during the workshop as they begin to learn the different features of Edmodo. They will see how to set up a class, create assignments and quizzes through Edmodo, manage a gradebook and calendar, share documents and links, discover resources and apps, connect with other educators, as well as connect with parents. Edmodo also has training resources available that will be utilized during the workshop.

Participants will be using Cacoo in the class to organize their thoughts in a graphic organizer. They will be able to make a copy of a graphic organizer that was created through Cacoo as well as have access to the original. Participants will be able to edit and add information to their copy and the original will be filled out by the instructor compiling the different ideas shared during the workshop. The active learning that will take place would be both behavioral and cognitive. Behavioral learning will take place as they interact and add to the graphic organizer. Cognitive learning will take place as the participants generate ideas and organize them into their graphic organizer.

During the beginning of the workshop, participants will be watching two short videos posted on YouTube to introduce the rationale behind using Edmodo and show them key features. The videos will be engaging the learner on a cognitive level as they begin to reflect on how this applies to them and formulate ways they can utilize Edmodo in their classroom. At this point in the workshop, the participants will be behaviorally inactive.
