On The Rocks was founded in 1999 by Leo DaSilva and Peter Hollens when they attended the University of Oregon. The group established itself through five albums with an EP, a viral video of Lady Gaga's Bad Romance, and appearances on NBC's show "The Sing Off". And now they are a new group of twelve living up to their past of fame and notoriety. You may ask us, "Why don't you sing Lady Gaga?" or "Where are the guys from the 'Sing Off'?" Sadly those days are gone. Those who graduated left us a great legacy and we look up to their talent every time we sing. But talent never graduates. Talent built this group from a time before the boom of TV shows and viral videos, because having the time of our lives has always been the goal and will continue to be forever. So know this: Every time we perform, we step on stage with the vigor of every man who has ever sang in our name. On. The. Rocks.

I really enjoy these guys because of the community that they create while singing and the way they can harmonize themselves all together.

The men in OTR are so talented and show perseverance with all of their endeavors. Especially knowing one of the members and how he balances about 7 different social scenes with the U of O, I am truly amazed with what they can do. They don't just use their voices but also their personalities which to me is one of the best parts when it comes to entertaining.

We select students and recent graduates (within 3 years of graduation) of the best creative programs around the country, and connect them with funding, expert advice, and logistical support for the production of art, media and design projects that examine urgent real world topics. Since 2006, we have partnered with students and recent graduates of the nation's top art schools to deliver a steady stream of innovative works to the public.

When we think about the world's great cities, the features that we remember are their beautiful parks, buildings and art. It's unlikely we think about their balanced budgets or their ability to attract jobs. In fact, one reason that the world's great cities enjoy vibrant economies is because people are drawn to beautiful places.

"ArtsJournal was founded September 13, 1999 in the heady days of the dotcom boom. The site is a digest of some of the best arts and cultural journalism in the English-speaking world. Each day ArtsJournal features link to stories culled from around the internet, including blogs and more than 200 English-language newspapers, magazines and publications featuring writing about arts and culture. Stories from sites that charge for access have generally been excluded. The current AJ site is the fifth design. In 2003 we added blogs and the site now features more than 60 prominent writers on culture. We expect to keep adding to the number with individuals, group and limited-time group debate blogs."

From Nike's project, we can see that even though they have successfully sold their products to people. Nevertheless, when shoes got beat up, people usually just throw it away. Fortunately, Nike has collected shoes for reuse and build couple public facility. This is type of work that working with community and society, which we talked about during the lecture.

I think this is a great idea. I would love to know more about it. There is not much other information about it on the internet besides what is in the video. Does anyone know if Nike donates these courts or fields? That would be a great way to give back to the community.

I really like this a lot. This is good for Nike public relations wise and it is smart economically as well. Nike being a progressive company is a positive for everyone involved.

The Oregon Voice is the best completely student-run magazine on campus because it is the only completely student-run magazine on campus. We get to print what we want and that's what makes it cool. We're always looking for contributors of writing or art, so if you'd like to get involved, feel free to apply!

Artists Giving Hope is a non-profit organization encouraging artists to come together to inspire people to act with compassion and kindness, regardless of race, gender, sexuality or beliefs. We do this through performance, education and supporting like-minded charities. We are starting with the dance world and expanding to other art and performance forms as well, including musicians, actors and athletes. My Brother is apart of this recent organization spreading an amazing message. Its a group of 18 top dancers in the country. Visit the website to learn more and donate!

This week's focus on media, technology and creative practices shines the light on the many apps we use and sometimes even overlook. We see the intended purpose the creators meant for the app and its many other uses.

This is a tumblr blog run by Instagram that talks about all the factors that allows for the success and powering of the social media site Instagram. They say, "One of the questions we always get asked at meet-ups and conversations with other engineers is, "what's your stack?" We thought it would be fun to give a sense of all the systems that power Instagram, at a high-level; you can look forward to more in-depth descriptions of some of these systems in the future. This is how our system has evolved in the just-over-1-year that we've been live, and while there are parts we're always re-working, this is a glimpse of how a startup with a small engineering team can scale to our 14 million+ users in a little over a year."
