You know, the ones featuring a photo - probably with at least one retro filter applied - with a helpful aphorism layered over the top in an attractive, friendly typeface. Yeah, those. The Richmond Night Market is a Asian influenced market and one of the biggest in North America. I visited this market this past weekend while visiting cousins in Vancouver and got enriched in so much culture. Booths were filled with different cultural foods as well as arts. There was also a carnival area as well as a concert stage for different local bands to perform. It goes on all summer long so if your ever in Canada make sure to check this out!

I had no idea that there were events such as quilt showings! It really heightens my attention because I would love to go to an event such as this. It really reminds me that quilts really are pieces of arts. Not only in the way they are made but how they are displayed as well. It looked absolutely gorgeous looking at the pictures of the quilts hanging in the vineyard. This post and event really touches me personally because my grandmother loved to quilt and maybe I could be able to show one of her quilts one day adding my families culture and traditions to the world.

This is programs is mainly designed as summer and after school programs about science here in Eugene, Oregon. Not only does it teach kids about science and nature but it combines that with art projects such as taking plants and other objects from the forest and creating sculptures out of them. It is a great example of not only art education but the interrelations involved in arts as well.

This website is absolutely FANTASTIC! I honestly have had a hard time fulfilling my role as a community member since moving to Eugene. A came here not knowing a single person and starting to attend community events is something I am really looking forward to doing. This really will help me further connect with the community. I also loved that the site did not just have one genre of arts to attend but a multitude of them as well as recreation. All combined together to help express and allow submergence into Eugene culture.

National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) Acting Chairman Joan Shigekawa announced today that the NEA plans to award $74.85 million in 971 grants to nonprofit organizations nationwide as part of the second half of its fiscal year 2014 funding (including $2.7 million to U.S. theater and musical theater nonprofits). In addition to direct grants through the Art Works category, this round of funding also supports the state arts agencies and regional arts organizations - the NEA's partners in bringing the arts to all parts of the nation - as well as grants for research projects that build evidence on the value and impact of the arts.

Flag The Photo Independent Art Fair debuts this year, occupying Raleigh Studios as a kind of unofficial neighbor/partner to Paris Photo L.A., which is happening the same weekend at nearby Paramount Studios. But Photo Independent is far more than a shadow fair. Conceived as an artist-centered counterpart, it's dedicated to working directly with photographers who wish to present their work in a more in-depth context. Vancouver will be hosting a recycled arts festival from June 28-29. There will be over 120 artists with stage perfumers, jugglers, and clowns. Nothing like mixing some good music with some good art. This is promoting the practice of recycling as well which I think is really important to show to people, and how recycled works can be just as good as those who use new materials only. It would be cool to see how one's trash develops into an artists treasure.
