Native American Art, Fine Arts, Native Art Network - 0 views

  •
"Native Art Network is 100% Native American owned and operated by Paul and Lesley Kabotie (Hopi / Santa Clara Pueblo and Crow respectively). Our families of the Southwest and Northern Plains have a long history of involvement in the arts. The driving inspiration behind the web site was the desire of artists within our families and communities to have an affordable professional marketing presence on the internet. We have merged our experience and expertise in the areas of the arts, marketing, business, software, database and internet technologies to create a web site that is easy for artists to setup, can be updated easily by the artists themselves, is actively marketed and is visited by art collectors and connoisseurs worldwide."

StumbleUpon is a discovery engine (a form of web search engine) that finds and recommends web content to its users. Its features allow users to discover and rate Web pages, photos, and videos that are personalized to their tastes and interests using peer-sourcing and social-networking principles. I use StumbleUpon to bookmark creative or inspiring websites and to explore other art forms.
  •
I like this StumbleUpon! I found the coolest page that shows how to fold a square of fabric into 12 or so different styles of sack- er wrap. I like the wine bag :)
  •
I love using stumbleupon as another resource for viewing and reading about different art, music, activities, and other creative art sectors. I like how you can narrow down your searches to your specific interests.

  •
"The Creative Vitality™ Index (CVI™) is a sophisticated creative-economy measurement tool that arms stakeholders with highly reliable data about an area's creative sectors. The most dynamic creative economy report available today, the CVI™ provides an annual measure of the health and creative vitality of the arts in a specific area. The CVI™ augments the efforts of arts agency leadership and advocates in building strategy and creating policy to strengthen creative sectors or in response to a deficiency. This tool goes far beyond traditional economic impact studies to include annual comparative data about commercial and non-profit creative enterprises and occupations, as well as consumer spending in key creative sectors. As part of WESTAF's commitment to the ongoing enhancement to the CVI™, all CVI™ data will soon be offered in an online format via CVI™ Data on Demand™, a new web tool that allows users to log in and access a variety of reports and combinations of data packaged to your preference--on the fly."

Drag and drop gifs, songs, videos, buckets of paint, or whatever you wish in open spaces called fields. You can invite friends to your fields and collaborate with them. Make it public for others to see. Discover new work, pull and edit fields, explore the user-generated libraries, and support the creative community.

The site is billed as a "studio space where you can collage the internet." It's a relatively easy tool for combining your favorite Web objects - images, GIFs, video, audio - into one gloriously insane digital mashup.

INSTRUCTABLES is a place that lets you explore, document, and share your creation - 1 views

  •
The seeds of Instructables germinated at the MIT Media Lab as the future founders of Squid Labs built places to share their projects, connect with others, and make an impact on the world. One of these early places was a blog Zeroprestige, which was an open source hardware experiment for kitesurfing. Here they documented their hand-sewn kites, plywood boards, and other general mayhem that happens when PhDs and high winds collide. "As a result of freely sharing our work, we met a ton of great people, received great opportunities, and were smacked in the face with the need for a web-based documentation system."

Atlas of Rural Arts and Culture :: Community | PlaceStories - 0 views

  •
"This Rural Arts and Culture Map presents new perspectives from rural America, with a focus on rural youth, rural-urban exchange, and a sustaining interest in the changing face of rural America, including the next generation, and their membership in diverse ethnic and cultural communities. Most importantly, this community is driven not by any single organization, but by the people themselves. With opportunities to share video, audio, photography, and text, we give full agency to an audience ready to become active participants in a mission to create new rural narratives. We hope this map will become a manifestation of direct, local experience; a digital tool that transcends itself; a meeting point for conversation and shared ground; and a foundation through which to unite and motivate rural citizens across the country."

This is so unique! I have never heard of sugar sculptures before. I think the article said something about molasses but I am interested to see how they hold the structure together so easily.
