change "replace tags" to "add tags" as default behavior (under more actions) - 52 views

suggestion resolved duplicate tagedit feature request tag-related tag

when selecting multiple links, and pressing "edit tags", the current default is that the new tag REPLACES all the tags of the selected links.
so if you don't change it to "add these tags", you will loose all the individual tags that you saved for those URLs.

I suggest that the default behavior will be changed to "add these tags"

offline bookmarks and highlights not synced with diigo when going online - 91 views

bug mobile-office offline sync
  • eyal matsliah

I'm connected via mobile phone over GPRS, and do most of my reading while offline.
I've just discovered that all the pages I've bookmarked and the text that I've highlighted were NOT saved to my diigo account.
i first thought that it happend because I closed the firefox tab where I was reading and diigo-ing , but the problem persists even if I keep the tab open.

a related problem is that after I highlight text and enter the title and tags in the window that appears, when I want to highlight text again, it is not highlighted.
I need to press the diigo button to bring up the diigo window, press submit or close, and only then I can highlight.

i've installed the latest version, but no luck.
the problems are even bigger -
some bookmarks are not saved even when being constantly online
some highlights are saved while others are lost.
sometimes the title and tags of the bookmark default to the title of the page and blank tags
even when I press "submit and close" and get a "bookmark saved" notification, sometimes it isn't !

    maggie ? oliver ? anyone ?

    hi joel ,

I only connect via gprs, but I don't think that the network layer has ( or should have ) anything to do with the application layer.

can you reproduce the problem over normal network ?
    it's basically:
    - disconnect from network
    - highlight and bookmark a page you had previously opened in your browser
    - - reconnect to network
    - reload the page - bookmark lost together with tags, highlights, comments, etc.

I also lost bookmarks and highlights in open pages when my mozilla browser crashed.

it's a bit frustrating. there's this one page which I've highlighted 3 times, and always some of my later highlights are lost.

on a related note, diigo website is very very slow to load compared to all other websites that I access.
maybe this is part of the problem ?

    thanks,

    e.

    hi joel,

connecting from an island in south thailand.

average ping is around 1 second
I actually get similar times for other websites, such as google.com

hope you get this issue solved soon.

    thanks !

    e.

I guess it's on your list, but here goes anyway...
please Add email notification to group-forum
make it forum-wide, not only post-specific, as in the old forum

besides, add an rss feed for replies to my posts, comments, bookmarks, etc.

    I love the new forum...

    thanks !

I discovered Diigo two months ago, became an avid user and a self-proclaimed product evangelist.

Diigo for me is the knowledge-management solution I was looking for.

What sets diigo apart is that it handles *Knowledge*, rather than mere links.

It is the ONLY solution that lets me *permanently* highlight and annotate specific text on a webpage, which is then saved to my diigo profile.

Diigo complements the mental process in which a sentence "jumps" at you, and you make a mental note about it. By highlighting the sections I deem important, I better understand and remember what I read. I believe there is scientific proof for this.

As time goes by, I'm building a repository of all the important Knowledge I find on the net, which I can easily manage, tag, retrieve and aggregate.

    Regarding the 'social' aspect:
Diigo provides me immediate personal benefits, and I can then share this knowledge with others of my choosing, and follow what other individuals or groups are finding on the net. Not just the pages(links) they are browsing, but the actual sections that they deem important, and their reactions to it.

I think that Diigo is not only for 'researchers'.
Most of us conduct some sort of research whenever we read a news article, shop for an appliance, view photos or videos, or read a blogpost.

Although I appreciate the other services, and might occasionally use some of them, I find that Diigo already incorporates and combines MOST of their important features, in a way that is more robust and scalable.

    1. "Import del.icio.us privacy settings" or
    2. "preserve del.icio.us privacy settings"

I think this should be the default.

    that's nice to hear.

I think the title of this post should be changed to something like "magazine seeking interview with diigo users"

I'll be happy to talk with them, of course.

AFAIK, The Diigo team is working on this and it will be available soon.

    Notification on updates/features - that's a good idea.

Try emailing info@diigo.com and ask to be added to the mailing list.

At the mean time, you can subscribe to the diigo blog at
    http://blog.diigo.com/

In order to facilitate the transition to the new group-forums, I suggest:
    1. disabling new posts at the old forum
    2. putting a link at the old forum to the new group forum;
    3. at every specific forum (features, bugs, etc.) to the corresponding group-forum;
    4. and from several important posts to corresponding group posts in the group-forum
    5. import some selected forum threads to the group-forum

can't change sticky-note privacy - fault or feature - 37 views

The privacy level for a sticky-note appears as "private" and can't be changed, so anyone watching my highlights can't see my notes.

    It IS possible to share a stick-note with a diigo group, which is a nice feature;
But I'd like to be able to let the whole world see them , regardless of being a diigo user or a member of a particular diigo group.
