FWIW here's a shot that I took at 13.38.02, around the time of the bug:
- whether that shot was before the bug, or after I drew the highlight a second time, I can't tell; the topic gives me only an approximate time of my comment #2.
Might the dataloss occur if Internet service is interrupted whilst using Diigolet?
Is it possible that Diigolet (3.1b538) continues to present the yellow of highlights without actually sending the required data to the Diigo servers?
Possibly coincidence, this bookmark is the same one that features most recently in nearby topic Highlights, sticky notes and page comments are disorderly, sometimes reversed. It's also worth mentioning that AFAIR, the highlights were not applied in a single browsing session. Probably two or more highlighting sessions contributed to my work. At a glance:
* results of the most recent highlighting session are intact * results an earlier session are lost.
The loss became apparent as I copied (shared) to a group:
* a number of highlights changed from yellow to pink * a number of highlights did not change.
In this instance I opened a new window to the same URL, presented Diigolet then — with the original window to one side, yellow areas showing all the failures — in the foreground window I re-drew the missing highlights.

Same problem here. Firefox 3.53, latest version of Diigo Windows Vista
I've been thrashing Diigo 4.0 beta services fairly hard, carelessly applying highlights out of order then finding them in order within my library, so I'm prepared to tag this topic resolved.
@ other contributors to this topic: performance, consistency, order etc. all OK for you now with Diigo 4.0 beta services?
I haven't seen this problem recently. Pushing the service fairly hard with frequent addition and deletion of highlights, the end results seem good: highlights are as they should be.
@ other contributors to this topic: do you agree?
@ Diigo: did you improve performance of servers, to resolve this issue?
I am having terrible trouble finding the annotations posted the students in my course, who were supposed to be bookmarking and commenting on websites and articles for a class assignment. Sometimes I can only see some of their annotations, sometimes only the headlines and not the comments themselves. I can almost never view their post-it notes. I see you had similar problems a few months ago. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks! Natan.
@Graham Perrin We have enhanced performance of our servers and the issue has been resolved. @natanmeir Did your students send notes to your group by selecting your group from drop-down menu in the "add sticky note" dialog box. Otherwise,their notes remain private by default. If that approach does not work for you, please kindly report it to us.

Bug
Some of the highlights have disappeared. I have no recollection of deleting them.
http://www.diigo.com/06i6f shows the remaining highlights. Between the first and second highlights, there should be at least one other.
Environment
Diigolet 3.1b538
http://www.google.com/chrome/intl/en/webmasters-faq.html#insidechrome
I selected the following string and allowed Diigolet to draw its highlight:
ActiveX is only supported by Internet Explorer
Very soon afterwards, without navigating away from the page, the highlight disappeared.
Postscript
I drew the highlight a second time.
The highlight shows once (not twice) at http://www.diigo.com/bookmark/http%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com%2Fchrome%2Fintl%2Fen%2Fwebmasters-faq.html and at http://about.diigo.com/about/www.google.com%2Fchrome%2Fintl%2Fen%2Fwebmasters-faq.html

I have re-drawn most (hopefully all) of the lost highlights but now, there's repetition of highlights at http://www.diigo.com/bookmark/http%3A%2F%2Fbroadcast.oreilly.com%2F2008%2F10%2Fthe-document-file-format-lands.html?tab=comment&uname=grahamperrin
Weird.
I wonder whether earlier, the highlights existed somewhere in Diigo service but that they were not (at that time) re-delivered via Diigolet.
I'll sit on this for a while, maybe review the duplication in a few days.
In the meantime,
@ Diigo
Is the apparent loss, then apparent duplication symptomatic of work in progress behind the scenes? Anything to worry about?
Comments disappearing from my bookmarks, comments missing from annotated link
Recent and less recent highlights missing from my library, missing from annotated link, and public notes can not be stuck
Please, what's your:
* operating system and version
* browser and version?
* version of Diigolet?
* or if installed, version of Diigo?
windows xp home . automatic updates
firefox 3.0.1 (should I upgrade to 3.5 ?)
diigo toolbar 3.1.6.16 (automatic firefox update)

As the core of Diigo is to "Highlight and Share the Web!", so bugs like this should be top priority…
The loss became apparent as I copied (shared) to a group:

Some of the lost highlights have since been re-applied. http://www.diigo.com/bookmark/http%3A%2F%2Fdeveloper.apple.com%2Fmac%2Flibrary%2Freleasenotes%2FMacOSX%2FWhatsNewInOSX%2FArticles%2FMacOSX10_6.html for an overview.

@ Jan
Does your 'same' problem occur only with the page specified by Alick?
Or are your problems with other pages?
