One of the reasons WordPress is so popular is because of its flexibility. Designers, developers, and bloggers have plenty of options. In this post we'll look at a combination of tutorials for improving a WordPress-based site, and plugins that can provide added functionality that will bring new possibilities. There are plenty of quality premium themes available, and also some decent free magazine themes, but you may want to build or customize your own. This tutorial covers the process of coding the index.php file to set up a magazine-style front page with a featured post section. - if you're willing to download all the plugins that are available from this site, you can really have the wordpress site look awesome and provide a lot more options.

This page has it all! Aside from just telling an explaining what we can do it provides screenshots so we get an idea of the "trick" to see is we might want it. This offers help anywhere from blog rolls to navigation to addding sideshows and tabs to your page. VERY resourceful.

This article is good because it provides tutorials on how to improve your blog.  For example, there are descent free magazines themes or you can build your own.  Also it gives techniques for seo and plug ins.  

This website focuses more on building a design for a successful website, but it's another example of using the same strategic steps in chapter one of "Basic of Design". I especially am drawn to the second step of this website "Identify your audience". Nowadays new technology being introduced to a variety of generations can be somewhat tricky. The fact that they mentioned "technical competency" as a consideration, gives a better understanding of who you will be dealing with and what levels of technology to consider.   

The main concept in CH1 identifies the importance of the design process through various steps. This site specifies web site building application and how to make it simple for the average viewer.

Another really cool idea! I might actually join this network. The description on the site says it all: "By joining the Creative Commons Network, you will be joining a worldwide community dedicated to building the Commons - the pool of content, of knowledge, that is freely and legally accessible to everyone - a vital public resource in this digital age."

This is a site that gives you tutorials on how to build on your blog. It shows you how to pick a theme, use sidebars, etc.

This site is great because it is clear and to the point. My favorite steps from this site is how the author tells how to brand your blog.

This would be an excellent resource to use to try to improve your blog it gives a great variety of tips on how to do it.

This site provides information on how to make your word press blog great! I enjoyed reading all of the recommendations and agreed with most of the suggestions!

The great for this sites is that it gives you 31 steps to improve your blog. As well, it gives steps for a new person to the blogging world.D#8Hm#3 Blog improvements

ProBlogger provides numerous links to various sites on how to improve your blog. This is a really in depth site but really provides a lot of information. 

D#1, HW#13 I really enjoyed this website for a couple different reasons. First of all, the design process is similar to that in the book, but yet it has a different approach because it is for an architectural piece, instead of a web site or banner for example. I also enjoyed it because it is not only a list of the concepts for the designer process, but it is also the steps that this particular architectural design teams uses and wants to share with their customers. This shows those customers that they have a structured plan and as a customer you can know where you are in the time line of your design and build process. Although the design process is not exactly the same as the book, it uses the same concepts from beginning with a blank page and sketching out ideas, to ending with details helping to make the project personal to the audience.

D6 HW6- This website introduced me to the idea of a sneeze page. It gives several resasons and methods for improving a blog. Especially to improve longevity.

This website is GREAT on how to personalize your Wordpress blog. It shows you how to completely personalize your website by changing the theme, adding widgets, and changing colors.

This site has great tools and guides for creating emphasis, talking about many ways of adding eye catching titles, items and balance, font & item size, alignment of different things on the page. Good Examples too!

Check this reading out, great examples of different ways to add emphasis with words, lines between paragraphs, pictures, etc...

The repetition of lines can be seen to separate each story. Lines can also be seen separating the top of the page where the links to other pages can be found

This is a website dedicated to creating clear and concise resume's. Resume's were used as an example of the importance of emphasis on page 31 of (Graham, 2005).

Not all of this website had to do with what we read about in Part 1. However, what I found important was that it mentioned the importance of a project manager.It also discussed that meetings were important and presented different ways of non-verbal communication with our team such as emails.

Here is an article from "learn to do it right" about improving the readability of your webpage design. This article takes into account that onscreen reading is up to 25% slower then print reading which was something I hadn't heard before. One thing this article stresses is the use of left aligned text to increase your webpages scanability.

Great article on Team Writing that corresponds well with the text.
