Writing Formal Reports - 0 views

  •
This page I found very interesting. It isn't an article discussing what is and the purpose of a formal report. Instead, it is more of a blue print of a formal report. This was my favorite because It breaks down every part of the formal report and what each section should cover. It starts with the cover page at the very top and ends with the appendixes. I found it simple and easy to follow.

How To Control Flow Within Your Web Designs - 2 views

  •
I liked this article the best. It discuses flow within web designs and it covers all the basis for smooth flow for people that are trying to create their own web page. It covers what design flow is and gives an image example of how flow flows within a graphic design. The author states that it is important to create an entry point, "something that stands out from everything else so that most people look at it first". The author also gives advice on controling flow within a design by using arrows, people or faces that look in a certain direction, and perspective. Using space to control flow is something that I found interesting the author states that "varying the space between a series of elements can be used to create rhythm and motion".

Presentation Design: Principles and Techniques - 1 views

  •
This article was my favorite because it's something that I can use in the future as far as presentations for my classes. This article has a page dedicted to repition in powerpoint presentations. The author stresses that repition adds a sense of unity through out the presentation. Consistent backgrounds and types of fonts are automatically incorported in the program. The author gives a warning of this automatic generated background consistency, it can be a bit tiring for the audience. The author suggests to shift the content of different slides in a way that doesnt interfere with the main message of the presentation. The page also gives examples of presentation slides that use repition in a subtle way.

Drawing Techniques: Check Alignment to Ensure Accurate Drawings - 0 views

  •
The article uses pictures to describe how to use verticle alignment and horizontal alignment. This is a good example of how grids are used to ensure correct alignment with drawings and not just multiple page designs. I believe this shows that alignment is important in visuals.

Principles and Elements of Art: Balance - 0 views

  •
I liked this article the best because it was short, simple, and straight to the point. It covers all the main points of balance and symmetry. It describes symmetrical balance, radial symmetry, exact, axial, and asymmetrical balance. Two new terms this article presented were approximate symmetry and occult. Approximate symmetry is an overall balance of color, objects, font size, ect. Occult is when the background is the dominant feature of the design. The article gives 3 art radial designs and an art picture of exact symmetry

Principles of Design Contrast - 0 views

  •
This article was my favorite not only because it represents the main points with using contrast but it talks about using contrast in jewelry design. It goes to show that contrast is used in many different things. In jewelry it is used to show the different elements in a jewelry piece. It talks about the contrast in color in a bead can help draw attention to the jewelry piece. In the contrast of scale it discusses the size of the bead that helps the jewelry stand out. It also describes the contrast of shape and of value. The website then has pictures of different jewelry pieces that show how each type of contrast is used differently
