Digital Musicking

This application can be used to create quizzes for students to participate in. I use kahoot for students to plug in answers for review games in my music history classes. I also use it as an anonymous ways to get polls done by the band.

A Great marching band game that teaches students the fundamentals of drill design. There are some setbacks as there is not music with it, but it's a fun application for students to experiment with and design shows.

As a bassoon player I often have people approach me about how I can play such an impossible instrument and how do I recruit? The main sections is how to garner interest to get students to play the instrument, the personality of a double reed player, and how to help students be successful once they've started playing a double reed. The Smithsonian Folkways Recordings website is filled with standard-based content from around the globe. There are articles to read, podcasts to listen to, recordings to listen to, artists to research and lesson plans to use in the classroom. The lesson plans are standard-based and well researched. Each lesson is labeled on the world map for easy reference. Lessons have links to playlists, videos and additional resources. There are lesson plans designed for all ages K-12.

These recordings provide students the opportunity to hear music from all over the world and explore the social impact of music on our society. These resources are invaluable as a music teacher.

This website is for a podcast I have been listening to for a few years. The podcast is very interesting an informative. It give a different perspective on teaching band. Though I don't teach in a similar situation, things can be applied to my situation.

This discuss all different types of things but it is interesting to listen to how the three work together with their different classes. It is an excellent way to stay involved in the music education community, and it continuously strives to improve the state of music education nation-wide.

BrainPOP is a great site for video lessons on music. The videos are very basic in design with the elementary level in mind, but could be of good use for any introductory music course.

Resource for UF Masters in Music Education. BrainPOP is a fun interactive site for young students to take control of their own learning. It allows for students to learn about concepts and composers that most interest them. There is lessons embedded into the program as well as videos to go along.
