Making Music Fun.net is a fun resource for both teachers and students. There are fun worksheets, and free sheet music for a variety of different instruments arranged by difficulty level. I like to leave these worksheets for a sub, and I give the sheet music to my trumpet students for practicing fun items in addition to their method books which may get boring from time to time. There is also information regarding composers, and is perfect for the elementary classroom.

It's design is to save time and to encourage home practice with the use of their devices.

This composition site through Classics for Kids gives two levels of composing- beginner and advanced. A great variety of notes to be used (there are dotted rhythms in the advanced level), and students can drag the notes/rests easily to where they'd like to on the staff. This site is great for teaching composition, beats, time signature, treble clef staff and notes.

This is a discussion by New York Times columnist, David Brooks, and Kathy Fletcher, and the director of Turnaround Arts Initiative about the important work that Turnaround Arts does through the strategic use of the arts. The discussion talks about how music facilitates brain development, why certain things in music leave people fascinated, and what magic music brings to emotion. The discussion also unfolds how the arts, and music education in particular opens the student's mind to memorisation. David Brooks says "Students understand better when topics are introduced through music". I agree with that because most students become more alert when a topic is introduced through song and it fosters the interest of students. Therefore we need arts to succeed in education. A lot of artists came from struggling backgrounds so when they talk to children that would like to succeed in the music world but are frightened that they'll never make it, they tell them "I know what you are going through but you can make it". This encourages those children to push on and excel in the arts. Kathy Fletcher says music boosts critical thinking and confidence which is ideal for students and they end up excelling in all other fields. The arts connect us all through music in a way that music created is shared all around the world. Partnerships are created to perform music and people come together to listen to music. This makes us one.

This makes me seriously want to reconsider learning guitar. I'm not gonna lie, as a pianist, I had a horrible time with the guitar in my undergrad methods course. My piano fingers just didn't want to do what the guitar needed them to do. This piece of technology could be a game changer. A software tool to create visual 'bubble' maps representing the musical form of user provided audio files in mp3, wav, or m4a formats. This is the software that I reviewed for Module 5, and it just works for the purpose it was created. Educational and at the same time just plain fun to play around with!

This site gives students the ability to create satisfying compositions that explore texture using loops that are designed to fit in with each other. Perfectly suited for differentiation, students can create works that are simple or complex.

Music Improvisation Arranging Music

Incredibox is a web-based mixing tool, and its purpose is to create mixes with pre-set loops including, beats, effects, voices, and melodies. In each "dude", the user needs to select a "clothing piece" that contains a specific loops. The user begins creating their mixes, and can add and delete them as needed. Musically speaking, it is a teaching tool because the user learns how to mix loops ate certain points. It enhance several concepts such as rhtyhm and meter. It can be used by elementary and secondary-level students.

Fun and (mostly) kid friendly website with links for kids to learn more about music and composers with somewhat of a piano focus. Uses the Dr. Who "Tardis" to travel through time and space to meet different composers, which could a cool "hook" for students with an interest in the Dr. Who BBC show.

Teoria is a Music Theory website (similar to musictheory.com) that offers step-by-step instructions on a wide variety of music theory concepts. The quizzes are helpful in assessing students in their understanding of theory concepts and allow the teacher to edit the types of questions on the quiz, the time limits, and the opportunity to correct the answers.

This website is a great tool for students to work on their music theory and ear training skills. Students can work individually on this website to complete different exercises and review music theory concepts.

The podcast give different viewpoints and advice to music teachers.

This website is run by and elementary music teacher who has chosen to share her experiences with others online. Podcasts are available on the site and cover a range of topics such classroom management to steam in the music classroom. Her podcasts at times include guests that share their insights on a particular topic. The podcasts are also available on SoundCloud which makes them accessible without having to use the website.

An online marketplace for teachers to buy and sell classroom resources. I have found many free and low cost worksheets, visuals and even lesson plans online. Resources include worksheets for pitch, rhythm, composers, specific songs, like the Star Spangled Banner and so much more. A valuable resource for a teacher who does not want to "recreate the wheel" OR who is creative and likes to "recreate the wheel" and earn a little cash doing it!

Teachers Pay Teachers (TPT), is a great resource for lesson plans, bulletin boards, and so much more! While most resources are free, some you do have to pay for.

This would be a great source for teachers who need the documentation for certain topics. This website provides every grade level, along with every subject being provided. There are lots of information on this source for free, and there are also many sources that are not free. But it depends on what you want or need. The purpose of this sources is to give teachers a wide range of things, that they may need in their classrooms.

Using Google Classroom in a general music room makes a lot of sense. Your students can do research, turn in papers, forms, and tests, all online. How about a large ensemble though? Google Classroom is a tool that you will want to utilize for your playing tests. Students can record themselves and submit their recordings for you to view. This allows them to practice and record at home without taking up valuable performance time during school.

This site is stocked full of useful features for students in the form of games, quizzes, and a great flash keyboard with music to match. Using the number keys, students can practice even if they don't have a piano keyboard. There are also lessons and resources for teachers, too.

This website is suitable for teachers who give students free time to work on music games. Many different music topics are taught by the music teachers and a better way for students to retain the information would include turning some of their assignments into competition. One thing i have learned, elementary students love to be competitive, so if the students are able to get high scores on music games, then they are retaining and getting the information.

This YouTube channel has many song tutorials for the ukulele. I often use this as a resource when my students have their own ukulele and want to learn on their own time. This resource is great for elementary all the up to adult ukulele learners!
