The author of this article, Tara Thomas, summarizes the top five technologies for event planners. The first technology that she mentions is smart phones. She writes that this is the most obvious technology that event planners can't live without. Planners can do things like set alarms, look up information, communicate instantly, and use social media to promote the event. The second technology that Thomas mentions is SaaS cloud applications. Software as a service allows planners to access all details and execution aspects of an event from any web enabled device, eliminating printed or emailed reports. Thirdly, Thomas talks about virtual events. Virtual events save the planner and the attendee valuable time, money, and resources. Thomas next talks about social media and viral marketing. Using sites like Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn to share event details is a great way to communicate to a very large group of people. The fifth and last technology that Thomas speaks of is Ipads and tablets. Through event management applications, planners have all of the information they could possibly need right at their fingertips. Ipads and tablets also make it possible to communicate in real time if needed.

I think this is a great article. I am a Marketing Manager but do events at my restaurant as well and even for me I need my smart phone at all times to look up stuff in emails or even have a remote log-in to my computer to check a contract if needed. Event planners really do need all of these technologies at all times and people may view it as rude to be on your phone at all times but in reality they are just doing their jobs to make your life easier and less complex.

"5 technologies event planners can't live without" was a unique read. The article begins with the number one technology the author designates as not being able to live without which are smartphones. Event planners are constantly in need to update their events, use the latest applications, set alarms for all events , look up phones number instantly by vendor and so on. What is then questioned is the systems in place before smartphones were introduced. Number two on the list is SaaS cloudapps better known as software as a service applications that are vastly on the rise. SaaS cloudapps enable meeting planners to access details and other aspects of events from any web device such as a smart phone or ipad. This is also valid with the ability to link event management systems to customer relationship management systems (CRM).Number three is Virtual events. The article presents many positives in hosting "webinars or live events" that include saving time, money and available resources. The meeting planner can fill "seats" easier and measure improvement for future events. Number four is social media and viral marketing. This is a major deal for event planners because not only they have the ability to market their events but attendees market for them: before, during and after. The article presents statistics about twitter, facebook and linkedin which support why social media and viral marketing are keys to success for event planners. Last but not least, listed as number five are Ipads and tablets. These devices simply allow event planners to have a bundle of information at their fingertips. In summary, event planners are constantly on the go and will always strive for perfection even during crunch time. Technology enhancements have allowed event planners to become more efficient and better resources for their clients.

This article list five technologies event planners cannot live without, including the smartphones, SaaS Cloud Apps, virtual events, social media and viral marketing, and iPads and tablets. With more and more people adopting smartphones, ipads and tablets, event planners should look into purchasing a mobile event app for their attendees to use at their event. This not only reduces paper waste, it also reduces the high costs involved in printing event guides and brochures for the event. It is essentially a virtual event guide that's available in the palm of the attendee's hands.

Digitizing The Menu: 8 North Broadway Takes The First Step | Rockland County Business Journal - 0 views

  • “We see more people ordering a second, and a third glass of wine,”
  • “We’re also seeing a 10% uptick in dessert orders.” Which makes sense – it’s hard to resist a dessert that’s staring back at you from a digital tablet.
  • eMenu International, which manages menus and wine lists in restaurants in 15 countries worldwide, says customers have seen increase in their average check from approximately 3% to 9% since implementing the digital menu to their operations.

  • And a patron is more likely to be drawn into a fuller description of a wine or spirit rather than by a line or two on a menu.
  • Restaurants using the full capacity of e-menus, particularly fast-casual establishments that connect to the POS (point of service) system, enable customers to choose their food and drink, place an order and pay.
  • Restaurants can customize e-menus and updates with a click of a button. Another feature of e-menus are multiple language options. Restaurants with tourists are able to view the menu in their native language.
  • it’s time-effective to put wines and desserts on an e-menu because the selection is changed up less frequently than the food, for example, which can change daily.
  • A restaurant can use e-menus to feature and promote private rooms, catering packages, special events such as sports games, bands and more.
  • Or, the e-menu can be used to promote a sister, or a chain of restaurants.
  • we’ve reconsidered that because the human touch is so important in the dining experience
  • Issues of concern include credit card security. Until and unless the transactions (bill payments) are PCI-DSS complaint, a customer’s credit / debit card data is at stake. A customer drops the tablet on the floor by mistake and the screen breaks. Who fixes it? Or replaces it?  The 8 North Broadway chef says his tablets are guaranteed for wear and tear. And there’s theft.
  •
eMenu systems can cause customers to order more when they see images and descriptions on a tablet. There has been an average of a 6% increase in checks in restaurants that utilize digital menus. It can also save the restaurant money to use this system instead of printing new menus. eMenu systems can be customized to promote whatever the restaurant wants to promote. These menus can also be translated so guests can read the menu in their native language, a feature which would be useful in a city such as Miami.

Regardless, a entertianment POS or fun center POS system will make you aware of any potential issues of theft through tracking what is ordered and what is paid for.
  • It is important to have set measures for staff to follow in recipes, which allows you to see how much inventory is actually left compared to how much should be left based on the inventory management system.

  • With 78% of consumers making purchasing decisions based on loyalty points, being able to offer Avios through the Banked network will help our merchants increase conversion rates and improve customer loyalty
  •
Fintech startup company, Banked, has partnered with British Airways to provide a new and effective form of payment for their airline loyalty members to pay for online purchases using BA Avios. BA Executive Club members can now use their bank account via Banked and merchants will be able to offer the Avios option at a fraction of the cost of credit card processing fees. (2-4% vs 0.1%) This new partnership will lead to increased customer loyalty, conversion rates along with higher average order value. Banked is currently integrated with may of the largest banks in the United Kingdom, including Barclays and HSBC. Banked CEO stated that 78% of consumers in the UK are making purchasing decisions based on loyalty points, which will extremely increase customer loyalty from the British Airways Executive Club members. In my opinion, this is an excellent way for loyalty club members, especially airline and hotel rewards members, to be able to utilize their points or miles that have been of no use due to the pandemic. This has already been integrated in the United States through Chase, American Express, and Citibank where rewards points can be used for purchases online and even on Amazon. This was the correct step for BA because they will be able to retain loyal customers until travel restrictions are lightened.

  • Beacon systems (like the Alertiee Plus) work by using Bluetooth to open a line of communication between a guest’s device and a specific location’s beacon when the two come close enough together to establish a connection.
  • In addition, beacons allow for much more flexibility, reliability, and detail in locations where GSP or cell signals are weak (e.g., malls, department stores, and hotels). If a guest enters the beacon’s Bluetooth radius the system will be able to communicate, regardless of any other factors. Developing an eMarketing model for tourism and hospitality: a keyword analysis - ProQuest - 0 views

  • Advances in IT have prompted the hospitality and tourism industries to move in a new direction, i.e. internet marketing or eMarketing (Leung et al., 2015)
  • On the other hand, from the customer perspective, tourism and hospitality are an information-intensive consumption experience because a customer might make considerable efforts to collect information and understand the image of a travel destination before making a purchase decision (Kim and Law, 2015). In this regard, search engines and social media are two of most fundamental information sources for making such decisions (Xiang and Gretzel, 2010). With their information-sharing capability, social media empower customers, granting them a “democratic consumption culture” by reducing information asymmetry and increasing their bargaining power (Leung et al., 2013). The pervasiveness and powerful computational capability of mobile technology make it possible for tourists to easily access information, book online services or even make impromptu purchases (Kim and Law, 2015). Apparently, the tourism and hospitality industries have been facing a revolution that has arisen largely because of IT turbulence (Piccoli, 2008).
  • Studies suggest that IT plays a prominent role in the tourism and hospitality industries, and it will be imperative, and indeed beneficial, for tourism and hospitality practitioners and scholars to keep abreast of all the advances in IT
  • ...11 more annotations...
  • Correspondingly, the frontiers of IT-related research will not only benefit the innovation and encroachment of the industry but also support managers, researchers, policymakers and other interested audiences in understanding the progress of developing trends and themes in the context of IT development
  • Among these analyzes, the keyword co-occurrence network particularly aims to construct knowledge, as the keywords of an article are anchored by the authors to distill the core concepts of a paper. Keywords generally represent the main idea of a research paper and express authors’ understandings of their work within the thematic context of their research domains (Ali et al., 2019). Keywords are regarded as one of the most meaningful indicators of an article’s content (Weismayer and Pezenka, 2017). Although keywords indicate the topic area and key variables/theories used in a study, they do not convey key findings such as the causal relationship between two keywords. Nevertheless, a group of keywords from the same domain creates an intellectual knowledge map of that realm. A knowledge map is generated from keywords according to the following steps
  • Keywords are collected from journal articles. A network of these keywords is built. A knowledge map connects the same keywords in different articles. A complete knowledge map is formed when all articles undergo the previous three steps.
  • eMarketing Capability As this study’s model of eMarketing capabilities is a major contribution and these capabilities play a critical role in marketing performance, future studies can investigate the antecedents/consequences of eMarketing capability, develop a scale or investigate the formation process of this construct. Future studies might validate the proposed model-based either on a single eMarketing capability or on multiple eMarketing capabilities. Empirical studies could benefit the development of research concerning eMarketing tourism and hospitality.
  • 3. Methods3.1 Data collection
  • 3.2 Data processing
  • 3.3 Analysis process and tools
  • Emerging Digital Technologies The purpose of this study is aimed at understanding the impact of IT on tourism and hospitality. However, as IT continues to evolve and advance, and as new technologies often alter customers’ behavior, as well as firms’ marketing strategies, it is necessary to pay attention to the impact of new digital technologies on focal fields. Specifically, it could be interesting and promising to explore the impact and role of forthcoming digital technologies in different eras, specifically, artificial intelligence, machine leaning, AR, virtual reality (VR), mixed reality (MR), chatbots, robotics, blockchain, 5 G or the internet of things (Park et al., 2018; Tung and Au, 2018).
  • As the database contains journals from various domains, this study first identified the target journals by using the keywords “travel,” “tourism” and “hospitality,” identifying 24 journals. Next, as these journals are affiliated with different publishers, the keywords “IT*,” “IS” and “technology*” were input to search ICT-related articles on the official website of each journal from its first issue to April 2020.
  • Customer Equity and Engagement Value Customer equity and engagement value are two of the crucial variables that require a better understanding in the eMarketing tourism and hospitality research. With the application and support of advanced IT and quantitative mathematical models, it will be valuable for future work to explore all aspects of the factors that influence customer experiences over time to synergize and maximize customer equity and CEV for DMOs or hotels.
  • Marketing Performance Apart from loyalty, other marketing performance indicators including financial and non-financial ones are encouraged to be developed. Such work will contribute to both the tourism and hospitality academia and allow industrial managers to link financial performance with innovative IT in terms of profit, sales revenue or cash flow. Moreover, assessing non-financial marketing performance (market share, quality of services or CEV) will help researchers and managers better understand the predictors of future financial performance than traditional accounting measures have in the past, and it should also supplement financial indicators in internal accounting systems (Ittner and Larcker, 1998). Finally, it will be contributory to develop a combined indicator linking financial and non-financial measures. Table 4 summarizes the overview of future research avenues.
  •
This article is about how hospitality and tourism have been reshaped through IT, eMarketing and how it has helped prove sales, information, made destinations more popular and also help travelers plan. eMarketing also is a massive platform for word of mouth. This study also shows what helped eMarketing become what it is. When certain things are typed into search bars, this data is collected and used for eMakreting and to target specific groups of people.
