It also goes through the different ages in children and how they might react to the divorce. Overall, this article is great for helping one cope with a divorce as well as ways to help your child cope with a divorce without making much damage. How this influenced my thinking: My parent are still together, so I was never exposed to any divorce issues, but I do remember having friends whose parents were divorced so I knew it was a hard process especially for my friends. Because I don't talk to my high school friends anymore, I honestly wasn't sure what the negative outcomes were of a divorce, but after reading this site all of the pain and sorrow from my friends came back. Everything that was mentioned especially about teens reactions were the way that my friends reacted during their parent's divorce. Credibility: This site seems to be credible.

How This Influenced My Thinking: There were some great tips on parenting after the divorce and some great example on how to help your child cope with the situation. I thought it did a great job of explaining how the child may feel and how to address those feelings. Credibility of Source: Author has their PhD and the website is a credible website

This article proposes that a child's genotype can "directly affect its rearing environment," which is a point that was not as explicit in the textbook. Overall, this article emphasizes a greater role of genotype influence in the process of human development. How This Influenced My Thinking: This influenced my thinking by taking on a more opinionated perspective on the genotype → environment effects theory. The class textbook takes on a very objective approach to explaining, and this article takes it a step further by adding onto it. Although this article is outdated, it still provided me with a new train of thought. I found this to be an interesting article, but at times, hard to read. Credibility of Source: Very good (though outdated).

How This Influenced My Thinking: This didn't so much influence my thinking as it confirmed my belief that chemicals in the food our children eat may very well play a major role in when they begin puberty. Credibility of Source: I find this article to be highly credible, Dr. Mercola seems to have done extensive research on the topic as well as included the input of other knowledgeable professionals.

Date Published: 2011 Why Relevant and Summary: The journalist and mother expounds upon the different research and studies that give insight into what a fetus experiences and learns in-utero. How This Influenced My Thinking: The last part of this talk discusses the "Hunger Winter" study and how prenatal exposure to famine effected health in adult life, and how 9/11 fetuses of mother who experienced the trauma, had babies with greater susceptibility to PTSD. Credibility of Source: Highly credible with verifiable references

Date Published: Nov. 2011 Why Relevant and Summary: As a science reporter and mother Paul combined her experience as a pregnant woman with her love of research to write about what a fetus is learning in the womb and what a mother teaches through their shared experience. How This Influenced My Thinking: there was a lot of interesting and pertinent information shared within this video. The shared experiences of a mother are vast. A fetus learns from a mother's voice, food preferences, language and culture to environmental events such as famine, war, fear and stress.
