It says that irreconcilable differences are normal and we shouldn't try to resolve or unresolve but rather come to terms with them and except the differences between you and your partner. I often feel that if you are unhappy because of disagreements that will never be resolved -then you should leave. But the point that we should just except these disagreements and cherish the stronger aspects of a relationship has changed my thinking on this. It also discusses the criticism of his theory by Gilligan. Gilligan claimed that women and men were determined using the same standard because original studies were solely based on men. Gilligan says women approach situations from an "ethics of care" rather than from and "ethics of justice" ..changing the stage that women and men most often ended up in. How This Influenced My Thinking: It gave me a better understanding of the way that Kohlberg approached this study and how Gilligan opposed the findings.
