Cacoo - 0 views

  •
Participants will be using Cacoo in the class to organize their thoughts in a graphic organizer. They will be able to make a copy of a graphic organizer that was created through Cacoo as well as have access to the original. Participants will be able to edit and add information to their copy and the original will be filled out by the instructor compiling the different ideas shared during the workshop. The active learning that will take place would be both behavioral and cognitive. Behavioral learning will take place as they interact and add to the graphic organizer. Cognitive learning will take place as the participants generate ideas and organize them into their graphic organizer.

Makes Sense Strategies - 4 views

  •
This site is a source for a variety of graphic organizers. It allows students/teaches to visually organize data in ways that make sense to them. This site if better than other because it offers more designs to choose from.
  •
    * Makes Sense Strategies creates SMARTSheets™ that are research based visual teaching tools or graphic organizers on steroids! The SMARTSheets™ are specialized, discipline specific graphic organizers that can be tailored individually to each student to address Common Core State Standards and enhance highly engaging strategic instruction.
    * I found Makes Sense Strategies to be better than other graphic organizer websites because it provides a research-based tool of resources to assist teachers with the implementation of the Common Core State Standards. The plethora of resources for K-12 teachers of all subject areas is a bonus few other graphic organizer websites have.

This website has various resources for teachers who wish to organize their classrooms. The website focuses on behavioral activity since many of the suggestions are projected to result in the teacher feeling less overwhelmed upon implementing these suggested ideas. There is clearly what Mayer (2009) would refer to as a learner-centered design since many of the included links focus on how learners can play an active role in contributing to classroom organization. Furthermore, there are suggestions with regards to how various items should be placed to accommodate the diverse learning needs of students.

Education Oasis - 0 views

Located on this graphic organizer website, Education Oasis, offers its users 58 different graphic organizers to printout and utilize for classroom use. These graphic organizers download as PDF files, which an Adobe Reader is needed to view and print them (as most Internet users have and utilize), make for clearer images, but unless you have purchased Adobe, you are unable to modify the graphic organizer to your needs. This site was picked because of its large variety of free graphic organizers for printing purposes with my students, which enhance learning of all students because of the variety of organizers that can be utilized for various lessons.

Multiple themes and templates are available to help get users started, or users may create diagrams from scratch. Why it's better: There are several graphic organizing software available online. This website provides a tutorial explanation sheet on how to create a graphic organizer in Microsoft Word. Step by step instructions with a visual are provided for viewer. The website is a great way for teachers to become familiar with technology and creating a customized graphic organizer to fit the content needs. Explanations on how to insert shapes and change the color scheme are detailed enough to help the uneducated participant. The visuals add to the explanation of how to create the graphic organizer. The user can see how the screen on Microsoft word should appear; this assists in finding the correct icon for each step.

Write Design Online Graphic Organizers - 0 views

This site has basic graphic organizers. There are also descriptions of each organizers and how to use it most effectively. For the multimedia presentation, I would use this to help give alternatives for presenting the information. This would be a good tool to share with participants for their use as well.

Online Video Editor - 0 views

  •
JayCut is a free online video editor that provides some basic video editing features, but is likely able to meet the needs of most educational technologists and instructional designers. The site is fairly straight forward but can interface with a variety of files and can combine audio, video, and text in an online editor. Files can be uploaded or they can be captured via microphone and/or webcam. The options included in this online application are rather impressive. The site could be used for presentations or pre-training. Students may benefit from the use of JayCut as it can facilitate the organization of materials to support essential and generative cognitive processing. By organizing text, images, and sound in a coherent manner and in a manner that upholds signaling, and spatial and temporal contiguity, students may be more inclined to organize in their own mind relationships between new material and that which is stored in working memory.
