Of the 1%, by the 1%, for the 1% | Vanity Fair - 0 views

  •
The gap between the 1% and the rest of the world is growing. The opinion that those that are in the top 1% have earned, and continue to earn that type of income. The reality is that research has proven this is not the case. Research has also proven that those who are not born to the upper class do not have nearly the same opportunities to succeed in life. The system is corrupt. The rich are growing richer off the work of the poor, who are becoming impoverished.

Should Health Care Cover Contraceptions? - 0 views

  •
With the current debate over the funding of planned parenthood I thought it would be fitting to add this in. Should contraceptive services be provided to women regardless of their employers personal beliefs?
  •
Absolutely. Contraception is a medication used for many other health issues. Even though the main use is to prevent pregnancy, should you prevent others from using it to slow ovarian cyst growth? Most diabetes medicine has a side effect of weight loss. Should this medication be stopped, because weight loss drugs aren't covered by health insurance?

Who should be held accountable for child abuse? - 1 views

  •
Who is responsible for being punished in extreme cases of child abuse? Are caseworkers at fault for allowing the children to be placed into such care? It is a question of whether those who are not paying enough attention to see the signs of neglect should be held to the same punishment as the abuser themselves.

1 in 6 Nursing Home Residents Experience Neglect or Abuse * SJS - 0 views

  •
This is about the abuse that those residing in nursing homes experience. Nursing home workers severely abuse residents by neglecting them and physically abusing them which leads to mental health issues.
  •
I agree that there are bad nursing homes out there. However, there are also amazing nursing homes out there that have excellent staff and owners/operators that have years of experience.

Of 41 countries, only U.S. lacks paid parental leave | Pew Research Center - 0 views

This article briefly talks about paid maternity leave. The U.S. is the only country that does not have a national paid leave mandate. This article is centered on the way mandated paid maternity leave is handled in other countries in the world. The range is from 2 months to 1.5 years of paid leave.
  •
Do you agree with not having paid maternity leave? I think it would be nice to be paid while you are away, but at the same time, you're not working so why should you be getting paid while others are working in that meantime?

This is truly sad. It's horrible that people are causing species to go extinct, and it's even worse because it seems like most people don't care.

The Effects of Immigration on the United States' Economy - Penn Wharton Budget Model - 2 views

  •
An article from a college about statistics and effects immigration has on our economy. Negative or positive you make up your mind on how immigration effects us.
  •
Definitely a topic I always find myself neutral. I try to have positive outlooks with the U.S. being the number 1 with the immigration. I get that most immigrants come here for the American dream (freedom) but then I think shouldn't they come here the right way by becoming a citizen first? Since we would have to as well if we were to go live in their countries. Then I see stuff on the news in the U.S. about shootings, bombs, etc caused by an immigrant. That would be my negative outlook.
  •
This article was very interesting. I have often wondered what the effects of immigration are, and if they affect the economy positively or negatively.
