"Virtual reality is an immersive tool that allows students to engage in learning in new and exciting ways. The terms augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) are often used interchangeably in conversation, but they actually represent two completely different ways to experience information.

What does it mean to be a reader in the 21st century? Many studies indicate that reading print offers increased metacognition and comprehension over online reading. However, is this truly the case or is it simply the result of studying students that have not had explicit instruction in how to read online? Although many of us use online and digital text formats, how much instruction have we had in how to navigate and comprehend it? Do these studies illuminate the reality that we need to learn how to be both an effective reader of digital AND print texts?

"Do you have a sufficient number of nonfiction books in your classroom or school library to meet the reading needs of students? There's an increasing amount of evidence that students not only enjoy nonfiction but are actively seeking it. There's also some indication that elementary students in particular may prefer nonfiction material by a wide margin, compared with adults. Yet, classroom collections and school libraries often don't reflect this reality."

360 video gives students the power to explore a space from every angle. YouTube hosts a range of 360 video content and one of my favorites is from the BBC. On the BBC's YouTube channel you'll find different types of video options for a virtual visit to places around the world. As you search through their content you'll see that they've tagged their videos as 360 to make it especially easy to find.

Computers intersect with every aspect of kids' lives, but most kids don't understand how they work. Through coding, students build essential literacy skills, gain an understanding of logic and sequence, and learn the mechanics of iteration. These tools support project-based learning and give students the freedom to create, collaborate, hack, remix, and tinker with their own unique designs. Using these picks, kids can unlock the logic of code and the basics of programming, turning computers into tools to make new things.

"Electronic or digital literature does not refer to e-books, but to works that depend on electronic "code" to exist. Put simply, you can print an e-book, but you cannot print electronic literature." Adult literature examples provide insight into the digital possibilities.

Leadership is far from a science. Many would even argue that it is more of a form of art. Since effective leadership means different things to different people, I wanted to dive a little deeper into this debate to glean a better understanding as to what great leaders do. It consists of a convergence of art and science.
