This piece describes how genre is effective in reading and other forms of rhetoric. It can allow readers to get deeper into text, and understand the form of communication on paper. Similarly to genres in movies and TV, genre in written works allow a reader to get the sense of what is "going on". Reading more and more, a reader is able to understand and decipher which genre is which. They also enable readers to connect emotionally to a text, and experience feelings of the writer/characters.

This article touches on several ways to take a story from good to great including engaging all of the readers/listeners senses, writing at your own level, and tapping into the emotions of your audience. All seven tactics can be used in all kinds of writing and would be especially helpful in the world of narratives as they would help the audience feel immersed in what they are reading of listening to.

This is an article that I had to read for another one of my classes but I thought it also fit well here. This article speaks about how social media has impacted friendship, community, and social circles and how they have changed from their original meaning to what we know them as today. It touches on how, as a society, our understanding of intimacy has altered, our understanding of ourselves has changed and how our idea of 'knowing someone' has transformed all due to the impacts of social media.

Although this link is a very short paragraph, it is still very important and clear when defining augmented reality.  This link gives an easy to understand definition of the term, and very interesting things to think about once you are done reading.  At the bottom of the article there are also many other links related to augmented reality, and the new things happening around the creation.

It features claims as "be a purple cow", and "promote like a Kardashian". While fun and an interesting read, there is real truth to his points. .

This article highlights 5 golden rules for effective web design. The article describes how to make typefaces work to your advantage, how to choose colour palettes, the advantages of correctly sized graphics, how to include space and headings, and the importance of consistency in design.

Looking at this reading on elements of good storytelling, the writer informs on 7 crucial parts in every good story. Starting with the premise, this gives the story a base, in which the characters are able to evolve from. In a good story, you need a main setting as well, where all events take place and gives reason to the story. Within the context of this story, you need both a protagonist and antagonist character, who are the main fighting force in the story. They add to the conflict, which is the rising part of the story, connected by arches, leading to a final resolution.

This article discusses the pros and cons of the current lifestyle we live in a social-mediated world. People are learning new ways to "speak" with shorter-slanged words, and more concisely; and even using photos to communicate with others (through photo sharing platforms). Users are also over sharing their private lives with the world on social platforms, not realizing that almost anyone can see and read what they are putting out there.

This study on narrative in media informs us on how narrative is very evident in media today. Not only do we use the form in literary works, but narrative (hand in hand with genre) work in media. For example, in the news, it is presented in order of first: the credibility of news, then presenting the current issue at hand, and finally an explanation of the resolution or following matter. This is applied in all forms of media.

This short video talks about how the internet, mainly Google, is changing the way we think and how we learn. The main point being that we finally have an unlimited amount of information literally at our fingertips but this ability has made our brains work differently so we cannot absorb the information that is so easily accessible. It brings up the interesting topic of how this technology and social media is changing the way we work as humans and leads us to question where it will take us.

This article is in the perspective of a blogger who decided to switch from Wordpress to Tumblr and his experience with it. The main point of this article is how Tumblr can connect the world with one single social media platform. It emphasizes how little can say much more. It first starts out with Tumblr's current good aspects, and later details the future of Tumblr.

Similar to the example given in class early in the semester about the young boy who asked for donations because of a disorder he had, this article also involves Reddit and users donating money to help those in need. The article is an example of concept of imagined communities. It features that idea of people from all over the world being unified because they read something on the same website and thus sharing an experience together by helping the orphanage.

This article is useful for individuals looking to edit their videos effectively. The tips provided are to guide a video editor in making the best edits possible. This video refers to one of our readings, by Jonah Berger. He talks about why things go viral; the causes of it. The video is very informative , and gives us a different perspective of what Berger has to say, since he engages with an audience and demonstrates some pictures and puts emphasis on text on a PowerPoint slide, unlike his article. I enjoyed watching this clip and was able to understand it better than the article itself.
