"This wiki is intended to be a clearinghouse of applications, lessons and experiences using the iPad in the classroom. The intention is that all apps listed have been tested and recommended by teachers using them. The Apps pages are generally created using google docs spreadsheets, feel free to update the wiki or the spreadsheets. (A link is provided on each page for the spreadsheets... at least the ones I've started working on...) At this point, as a high school science teacher, most of the apps I've recommended and investigated are geared to this level. Some can be used at any level. I invite you to add pages dedicated to your areas of interest and expertise if they are not already listed here. I would love to see a section on Literature and Language and Elementary Skills added to the wiki along with additions to any of the currently developed spreadsheets. It would also be sweet to share specific lessons or ideas for applications and activities. "

Blogs have been described as the ultimate in publishing for the people and have been used to challenge governments and the press. Steve O'Hear, one of Britain's digital evangelists, explores how blogs can be used in schools. Steve finds some enthusiastic primary age bloggers and sees how it helps in literacy, ICT skills and a range of other subjects. He finds many of the benefits extend beyond the curriculum. Get Smart with Art @ the de Young Written to support the California State Content Standards in language arts, social studies and the visual arts, Get Smart with Art @ the de Young is an interdisciplinary curriculum package that uses art objects as primary documents, sparking investigations into the diverse cultures represented by the Museums' collections. In order to promote implementation, all historical texts are written at the intended grade level, thereby reducing the amount of teacher preparation required. In essence, Get Smart with Art @ the de Young is a readymade curriculum that simply requires the addition of inquisitive students. Using art objects as the foundation for each lesson, the guides develop visual literacy, historical knowledge, artistic expression, and expository writing skills.

Digital Portfolios Made Easy is a portfolio system developed by Dr. Leigh E. Zeitz and Andrew E. Krumm. It provides a system for presenting digital portfolios that is complete but simple. The growing interest in electronic and digital portfolios has created opportunities for practitioners to present portfolios that are more rich and interconnected than the traditional notebook professional portfolio. The greatest obstacle to creating digital portfolios, however, can be the practitioner's perception of the technology itself. The technology does not need to be overly complicated, and the goal of DPME is to make the process as transparent and intuitive as possible. The DPME templates provide a framework within which to build a standards-based, individualized professional portfolio. The DPME templates are provided in two formats, Word and HTML. These two formats allow practitioners of all skill levels to use software that most already have on their computers.

There is growing interest from schools in the Maker Movement and Maker Education but with this have come some subtle misunderstandings about what it is all about. For one the modern maker movement is all about the mindset of the maker rather than developing a set of specific skills for making. The second confusion stems from a belief that the maker movement is all about the tools and the makerspace and that as such it involves large budgets.
