The rise of self-publishing and the advent of social media has exploded the popularity of printed books. And you can't do it without thinking differently from your peers or innovating, or being creative and original.

"I have also played around with using ChatGPT for some tasks. I have got quite a few writing projects right now. I always start writing a paper by writing the abstract, and then generate the structure from that. I am aware this isn't what everyone does, because my writing partners often give me strange looks when I suggest it. So I gave ChatGPT a couple of my current abstracts and asked it how it would structure a paper with them. It gave me perfectly sensible outlines - pretty similar to the ones I already had. So I might trust it in the future to help me a) see if the abstract leads to a sensible structure and b) not miss out on elaborating everything I had put in the abstract. I still wrote the abstracts, and did the research which I'm going to write about. Am I cheating?"

"Up until a week ago, I'd never heard of ChatGPT. In fact, I hadn't realised that AI chat systems were even a 'thing' and was quite surprised that the technology existed. For those of you who haven't heard of it yet, ChatGPT, powered by artificial intelligence, is a chatbot which takes human-computer interaction to a whole new level. Siri and Alexa pale in comparison. It is an online system which responds to human input in an incredibly sophisticated way. You type in a request and ChatGPT produces a response within seconds."

"Much of the conversation around children's use of technology focuses on the potential risks and harms of exploring the digital world. While protecting children is an essential focus, it cannot be the only one. As children's lives become increasingly digital, we also have an obligation and an opportunity to reframe the discussion using a whole child approach, in support of children's ability to learn, create, connect, play, and, more broadly, in support of "well-being" - a state inclusive of happiness, health, safety, and comfort. "As someone who has been passionate about and studied human motivation for decades, I propose an integration of these motivational theories. I developed this framework to put a greater emphasis on growth and actualization needs in the school environment. A ladder and steps are used as the metaphor as I prefer a more physical-oriented depiction than a hierarchy or pyramid, which is difficult to impossible to climb. "Last week, I had the honour of keynoting a talk for The Manitoba Association of Computing Educators called Technology as the Ultimate Equalizer in which I shared accessibility tools students with learning disabilities could use to help their achievement match their potential. This included Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools such as Rewordify and Quillbot which students could use to simplify dense text  if they have verbal comprehension issues and Dictation.io which can be used by students with slow processing speed to help them get their ideas on paper as well as many others. But never until now, has there been such uproar about the impact of AI in the classroom as with the introduction of an open source AI tool, Chat GPT which has everyone talking about The Death of the Essay and other woes in education."
