I chose this site to share because it not only involves a battle over a stealing a digital image, but also copyright enfringement. New media (photos in this case) is easier to copy and distribute than old printed on paper photos.

Introduction to New Media - 0 views

This was a presentation by Kate Thompson. Her presentation was well organized and very clever. Liked how she played off the shrek storyline to explain what new media was and goes into different examples of new media.

Iowa State University's site does a great job at breaking down what new media means. They make it very simple and easy to understand and give good examples of new media.

I thought this was a good site for explaining the older punch cards, and I also liked the pictures they had on here to accompany the information.

The Language of New Media | Q & A - 0 views

This page helps me understand the Language of New Media because the author is answering questions about the article. It helps that Manovich goes into more details on some areas that may be a little confusing to the reader.

I liked how this article gave specific websites that show exatly how it shows each principle that Manovich discusses in his book. This article gives a brief summary of each principle in an easy to understand and gives examples on how it is shown in websites.

This is a pretty thorough page on the more recent innovations in media (starting about 1977) where everything really took off. It helped put it in to perspective and with a timeline a little better.

This article, on the othe other hand, discusses the end of many newspapers due to the current choices of communcation that isn't bringing profit to the mainstream media. Everything that the newspaper provides is available on the internet all the time. This article also discusses the decline of traditional media as well. Television is declining due viewers turning to online resources that is available at all time to the viewer's convience. Another traditional media is the declining of radio.

This video made me think about Transcoding and the use of HTML in new media. This is a tutorial on how to use HTML in the creation of a web page. It gives a lot of really good information about how to make a computer do what you want it do. This is what I think about when it comes to computer language.

The Public Domain: How to Find & Use ... - Stephen Fishman - Google Books - 0 views

This book covers copyright rules for everything from writings to music and even to maps which was something that I hadn't seen or even thought about. I have not read the book but glanced through it and it looks easy to understand and is packed full of information.

I'm all about the easy when it comes to books like this and after glancing through this material, it not only looks easy to read but also easy to understand. It gives very good descriptions on public domain and makes it clear enough that you know exactly what it is talking about.

I like this website because it give ideas on how to improve your Wordpress blog through passion and personality.

The last way this suggested on improving my blog made me laugh. I am not getting paid for this so I guess I am doing it for the right reasons. I didn't even know people blogged for money, I just thought of it more as a Public Service announcement kind of system. Where people could vent their ideas and opinions in a structured environment where they could receive feedback on such ideas. This page helped a bit due to the simplicity of it, being crunched for time within the last week I took the very brief descriptions and began to try to incorporate these facts into my blog to see if any imporvement would come about.

Well I retract my statement from just moments ago. THIS website really integrates everything that we have been taught thus far and brings it around full circle.

I found this site to be closely correlated with the assigned reading. THis was my favorite of all the site that I searched through on the topic of new media. Although this does not give any sort of history of new media as the reading relates to, it still closely ties in with the reading. I found that its section on convergent media/the age of participation was a section that contained a lot of the same ideas of the reading. The rest of the site goes in detail on the young generation and new media as well as democracy, which I found to be very useful and interesting topics.

New Media: Organizes & structures from experience. What are they: Web sites, computer games, digital videos, digital cinema, computer animation and multimedia. To sum: the 5 principals are used to describe the types of media. I thought this site summarized what Manovich is speaking of very nicely. It is in plain language that I understand and comprehend better.
