New Media: Organizes & structures from experience. What are they: Web sites, computer games, digital videos, digital cinema, computer animation and multimedia. To sum: the 5 principals are used to describe the types of media. I thought this site summarized what Manovich is speaking of very nicely. It is in plain language that I understand and comprehend better.

-Fair use varies with each country. -If copyright says you can't use their work, you still can if it is under fair use. -correctly crediting the person's works does no mean fair use. -fees for a person's work.
  •
This provides some good information on fair use.

I found this site to be the most useful in a completely different way than the book. It explains that flow is a psychological element and there are many ways that it can be applied and used for better designs. Some of the examples that it gives are: allow for discovery, using efficiency, proving immediate feedback, and setting clear goals and purposes.

While I was reading the book I wanted to learn more about the gestalt law of perception. I decided to search for it and this is one of the sites that I came upon. The term "gestalt" is kind of the psychological term to describe tools like figure, proximity, closure, continuation, and similarity to bring unity (repetition) to design. It is kind of a neat article about how we can figure out how to make great designs by finding out how we perceive things. I think this concept can be used to my advantage when designing for particular audiences

Oh my this site is so awesome! I think it is really directed towards me; I have been feeling like my comic tutorial is very unorganized and not aligned. This site supplements just a short "comic-like" tutorial on alignment. I just really felt like it was a a little helpful and hopefully I have gotten good insight from it. It gave me a good idea how to organized and align my Glogster page little better

Is Your Web Design Balanced? | Van SEO Design - 0 views

  •
I felt like this page had some great visuals and definitions of what balance is. I love how they describe that colors can actually "weigh" more than others. I like that they offered new terms like radial balance and mosaic balance (chaotic balance). They gave examples of every concept that they talked about and in a wide range of designs. The writer also does a silly example of making a formula for balance.

D#2 HW#2 - C2 site/page bookmarking - 1 views

I am a little partial this one particularly because of the fact that we were just asked to pick out our favorite blog site and what we liked about it etc ect.. It talks about where the eyes should be drawn to and how using contrast in a web page or any design can add value to it. It discusses how to use colors appropriately and how to make the text pop out. It also points out that contrast is a tool for accomplishing hierarchy.

I thought this was uplifting to the chapter I just read. This little editorial states that all the concepts like design and critical thinking in writing can really help you succeed in any industry and the importance of it. It talks about putting a writing component in the SAT and the author just stresses how important planning and design writing can be for a persons' future. I thought it was just kinda neat to read.
