This page talks directly about the double logic of remediation and correlates closely with a lot of the concepts and theory talked about in the reading. It mentions immediacy which is aimed at diminishing users awareness of the media and hypermediacy which is aimed at enhancing that same awareness. It gives some great examples of the double logic of remediation and really helped me better understand what it means. This was my favorite of the different pages that I explored.

I found this site to be closely correlated with the assigned reading. THis was my favorite of all the site that I searched through on the topic of new media. Although this does not give any sort of history of new media as the reading relates to, it still closely ties in with the reading. I found that its section on convergent media/the age of participation was a section that contained a lot of the same ideas of the reading. The rest of the site goes in detail on the young generation and new media as well as democracy, which I found to be very useful and interesting topics.

This was a very useful site explaining what exactly creative commons is. It was my favorite site of all that I found. It explains; what is creative commons, how it works, who uses it, how it is funded, and where to find out more info about it. This site helped me learn more about creative commons, it showed me more then I knew and did so in a simple/clear way. Over all a very helpful and useful site.

This was my favorite of the sites I visited. This site shows how to design your blog in order to catch the eye of your visitors. It gives the importance as well as examples of how you should have your header, content area, primary nav, secondary nav, headlines, comments, post's footer, footer, and advertisements within your blog to bring it strength. Over all it was very helpful although wordpress does not allow the blogger to edit/customize to this high-detail.

This was my favorite of the different sites that I found on the topic of repetition. I thought that this site very closely followed what the Basic's of Design taught on the subject. The site gave a background of what repetition is and why it is important. It also gave great examples of different forms of repetition such as; repetition of a image/icon, border, or decoration. It really helped me understand why repetition is such a key component in design!

This was my favorite page found on my search for content related to chapter three of basics of design. This site gives a great outline of what the design principle contrast is and how to properly use it in page design. It describes and shows examples of positional, shape, color, and size contrast. This was a wonderful site that supported and reinforced examples right out of the book. I really loved the great and creative sites that it had in it's examples and I felt inspired to aim for design of that quality.

7 Tips for Writing an Effective Instruction Manual » SitePoint - 0 views

  •
I found this site on how to write instructions in 7 easy steps to be very simple and helpful. The first to writing instructions according to this site is to take a step back and write as though the people have zero knowledge of the subject. It wants you to know exactly what your trying to teach/get across without putting too much or too little info. After this creating an outline is a good idea before just starting your project with no plan. The next two steps according to this site are to make your instructions easy to understand and make them brief as well. Lastly they suggest the use of visual aids, such as videos or diagrams, and to give it a test drive to get out any kinks.

How to Use Visual Hierarchy in Web Design | Design Shack - 2 views

  •
This was my favorite of all the sites I found that related to the content of chapter two. The site's main focus was on the use of visual hierarchy in web design. The use of visual hierarchy has the power to improve the amount of content and information the reader actually views and absorbs on a page. With the correct use of hierarchy you can almost control what is viewed and the path that is read. According to this article position, size, color, and visual complexity are the different parts of visual hierarchy. If these different principles of visual hierarchy are applied correctly one can create the optimal page for steering their readers attention to wherever they would like.

10 Principles Of Effective Web Design - Smashing Magazine - 0 views

  •
I found that this site closely related to the ideas and principals from chapter one of Basics of Design. The site specifically talks about the principles of effective web design and website usability. It talks about how the typical web users brain works and the proper design to get the most out of them. This site shows the effectiveness of simplicity in design and how to get the most out of the space which you are working with. Also it mentioned having effective writing through talking business and the use of bold/italics keywords. Lastly the site encouraged designers to not fear having blank/white space on their site and to communicate with language that is clear and consistent with the concept of the site. Friedman, Vitaly. "10 Principles Of Effective Web Design - Smashing Magazine." UX Design: Smashing Magazine. Web. 22 Aug. 2011. .
