Fantastic article on the review of the clinical use of saliva testing.  Of note, is the extensive documentation of the validation studies of hormone saliva testing.  Clearly, if a physician is against saliva testing, it is because of a lack of knowledge on the subject.

Several flaws with this study. First, the majority of testing done in the meta-analysis was serum--unreliable.  Second, this study flies in the face of many other studies that have shown elevated estrogens contribute to low testosterone in men.  Third, this flies in the face of observation.  I see over and over again, by lowering a male's estrogen level, he in turn will start producing more Testosterone.  And finally, the environmental xenoestrogens have helped to contribute to a all time low of testosterone/infertility rate in men today.

Increased aromatase activity is found in BPH.  PGE2 increases aromatase activity and thus increases Estradiol production in the stroma of the prostate.

Estrogen early protects against colon cancer, but estrogen increases proliferation late.  The problem here is the estrogens involved.  If ER beta is shown to be highly expressed in the colon, then Estriol would be of benefit as it preferentially binds to ER beta at a rate of 5:1 and Estradiol at a rate of 1:1.  Estriol is currently used in Europe in advanced breast cancer.
