Austin (SFA) University's upgrade to Oracle Exadata Database Machine with an Oracle Exadata quarter rack to support its enterprise resource planning (ERP). The article notes that SFA had previously used a combination of solutions from multiple vendors but had a system that was unreliable and lacked scalability. Further, the article explains that the university can now support up to 2,000 concurrent users on its ERP and SIS systems, has a system with fewer bottlenecks and downtime, and has reduced staff overtime and simplified the system upgrade process.

The article notes that San Jose University wanted to be the first university to combine massive open online courses (MOOC) content with college credit. SJSU continued student registration as usual, leveraging Oracle's PeopleSoft as its student information system.

The university needed a way to achieve the right balance of high enrollment and elective courses. The university's plan included Oracle's PeopleSoft ERP to leverage student data. The university also implemented Oracle's Campus Solutions Academic Advising module to initiate an analysis of aggregate course demand. The university is now planning several projects, including a roadmap students can access directly to assist them with their academic planning.
