OKMOOC

Some preliminary findings from the MOOC Research Initiative.

Interesting that most people who do well in MOOCs are generally people who have a "growth mindset" and are not necessarily the people in most need of learning. I think any research on MOOCs is interesting since it is such a new phenomenon and it's going to be interesting to see how they evolve.

Very interesting indeed that it is not necessarily those people who are most in need of learning who do well in MOOCs. The question is how MOOC's can, indeed, become more beneficial and attractive to those who need them the most. Access to internet in rural areas around the globe, and availability of cheap computers are both key.

With these resources, you can create or participate in collaborative efforts to develop tools and methods for online education.

Many Open Education Resources (OER) have been introduced by governments, universities, and individuals within the past few years. OERs provide teaching and learning materials that are freely available and offered online for anyone to use. Whether you're an instructor, student, or self-learner, you have access to full courses, modules, syllabi, lectures, assignments, quizzes, activities, games, simulations, and tools to create these components.

Realizing the value of sharing in digital world the open licenses.

Very useful information. it's going to be of key importance that people know about copyright now that we're all moving into an era of massive creativity being shared globally. Understanding copyright needs to be part of digital literacy.

Why invest lots of time, effort and energy creating new course materials from scratch when quality, freely-available resources may already exist? Why not adapt and use these resources, known as Open Educational Resources (OER)?

Okmooc was my first mooc experience, and quality is one of the main reason that can lead me to do it all again. So, open does not mean poor quality.

Identity development is a role that partakes every person's life. Whether their identity falls under race, gender, sexual orientation, or culture each person can connect with one of these classifications to differentiate themselves from the next. Of course there will be those who share the same classifications of identity, but will find a different aspect of themselves to further identify themselves. This article introduces the the "borderlines" of how race, culture, sexual orientation, even physiques connects and is influenced by the digital/cyber world.

A true pioneer, Mr Musk is. I think he has an extra sense for the future. Patents seem to be an institution which increasingly focuses on short term profit instead of the common benefit on the long run.

Patents are the biggest responsible for the technological delays. The laws should change radically.

This is taking the access of quallity participatory online education beyond tertiary level. It will also provide the opportunity for those who have been unable to complete high education to do so.

Introduction Sophisticated knowledge of the natural world is not confined to science. Human societies all across the globe have developed rich sets of experiences and explanations relating to the environments they live in. These 'other knowledge systems' are today often referred to as traditional ecological knowledge or indigenous or local knowledge.

Many students who arrive at college find themselves struggling with the courses they must take, as their high school experience has not provided them with the necessary preparation to do well at college....

I took this coursera course in the summer - Learning How to Learn - https://www.coursera.org/course/learning It was really well put together with lots of practical ideas to implement right away. It's being offered regularly and is only 4 weeks long, very worthwhile.

One objective of the community domains forum discussions is to move our thinking from isolated subjects into a thought ecology, or whole-system design. The 22 Domains of Community Design are used as an overlay to any subject matter worth pursuing. For example, if you want to build a solar energy device, which would be under the 'Energy and Power' domain, the domains suggest there are far reaching influences across other domains of community design and ongoing development (i.e. a fractal nature to them) that influence our creative process.

I have been working on the creation of an online collaborative design environment that encompasses many aspects of human behavior, technical tooling, and interactive process. En febrero de 2014 la Comisión Europea aprueba el proyecto ECO, donde un consorcio de 20 universidades y empresas europeas de 7 países diferentes se unieron para desarrollar un innovador programa de acreditación dirigido a profesores y profesoras. El objetivo es mostrar las estrategias de e-learning mediante cursos MOOC (Masivos, Abiertos y Online) de sólo 8 semanas de duración.
