    Society for Research in Child Development Patrice L. Engle Dissertation Grant for Global Early Child Development The Patrice L. Engle Dissertation Grant provides support for students interested in a career in global early child development who are from or doing research in low- or middle-income countries. The Grant includes US $5,000 to support dissertation research and a 2-year student membership to SRCD. Applicant Eligibility and Responsibility 1. Dissertation research in global early child development with a one-year Grant for $5,000. The developmental focus of the research should include children, prenatal to 6 years of age living in low- or middle- income countries, as defined by the World Bank.  Potential topics could include (but not limited to): The effectiveness of different models of parenting support on early child development. Examination of how child care programs promote child development and family involvement. The effectiveness of 2-generation programs that provide maternal and child support. Innovative strategies to integrate programs that promote early child development with health or nutritional services for young children. Innovative strategies to integrate child development interventions with social protection services or programs to promote maternal mental health or education. Innovative strategies to involve fathers and other extended family members in early child development programs. Development of measurement strategies, indicators, and assessment tools for children and family interactions that can be implemented with reliability in low resource settings. The overall goal of the program is to build the capacity of Federal Ministry of Health (FMoH) with regards to SBCC interventions while also developing effective messages and coordinating SBCC messaging across stakeholders. The authority for the RFA is found in the Foreign Assistance Act of 1961, as amended, and the Grants and Cooperative Agreement Act of 1977. While for-profit firms may participate, pursuant to 22 CFR 226.81, it is USAID policy not to award profit under assistance instruments such as cooperative agreements. However, all reasonable, allocable, and allowable expenses, both direct and indirect, which are related to the grant program and are in accordance with applicable cost standards (22 CFR 226, OMB Circular A-122 for non-profit organization, OMB Circular A-21 for universities, and the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Part 31 for-profit organizations), may be paid under the Cooperative Agreement.USAID expects to award one Cooperative Agreement based on this RFA.     We are pleased to welcome American students to apply for the Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) Program to learn critical foreign languages next summer on a fully-funded study abroad program. The CLS Program is an intensive overseas language and cultural immersion program for American students enrolled at U.S. colleges and universities. Students spend eight to ten weeks abroad studying one of 15 critical languages. The program includes intensive language instruction and structured cultural enrichment experiences designed to promote rapid language gains.

    The Office of Citizen Exchanges, Youth Programs Division, of the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) announces an open competition for the FY 2018 Jovenes en Accion (Youth in Action), an exchange program for Mexican high school students. U.S. public and private non-profit organizations meeting the provisions described in Internal Revenue Code section 26 USC 501(c)(3)may submit proposals to provide participants with a four-week summer exchange program in the United States focused on civic education, community service, and youth leadership development and to support the implementation of service projects in their home communities. This program will be funded as a joint initiative between the U.S. Department of State, the Mexican government, and the private sector. U.S. Embassy Mexico City and the Mexican Secretariat of Public Education will recruit, screen, and select the participants. ECA funding will support U.S.-based activities for approximately 25 participants to take place during summer 2018. U.S. Embassy Mexico City anticipates additional funding to increase the total number of participants to approximately 75 students; proposals should indicate the applicant's ability in hosting approximately 75 students and managing funding from multiple sources. The Department reserves the right to reduce, revise, or increase proposal project configurations, budgets, and participant numbers in accordance with the needs of the program and the availability of funds.

    The U.S. Embassy's Public Affairs Section in Moscow (PAS Moscow) invites proposal submissions for a cooperative agreement to provide technical and logistical support for arts and cultural programming in Russia. The grant recipient will work closely with Public Affairs and Cultural Affairs at Mission Russia to identify and select American artists and performers to bring to Russia for short-term programs. Performances may include, but are not limited to music, dance, theater and film/television acting, and culinary arts. The grant may occasionally include programs for artists in the spheres of photography, comic books and graphic arts, computer art and design, arts management, painting, and other visual and graphic art. Individual athletes or groups of athletes may also be supported through this program to demonstrate their talent. The grantee will be responsible for assisting with support in the form of fee negotiation with the artists, visa assistance, in-country and international transportation arrangements, airport pickup, event promotion, procurement of educational and printed materials, and other technical and logistical support as directed by PAS Moscow. Additional examples of supporting activities include reimbursing artists for program-related expenditures and processing vendor payments for travel expenses, support, or other items.

HOMESTAY SMALL GRANTS PROGRAM - 0 views

    The United States Embassy in Bosnia and Herzegovina, acting through the Office of Public Affairs, is pleased to announce a Notice of Funding Opportunity for Civic Education programs that address school segregation or other problems that divide students along ethnic lines. These projects should advance Education in Democracy and help remove obstacles to integrated education. This small-grants competition will award projects designed explicitly as home-stay exchange programs that contribute to democracy and human rights education, with interaction and the development of tolerance between the ethnically, religiously and geographically diverse communities of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Home-stay exchange program activities include the mandatory requirement of a family-engagement component, in which participants will stay in the homes of fellow participants from different ethnic or religious backgrounds, and engage in volunteer projects in both communities. Programs should be innovative and bring together youth (ages 12-24) from communities across ethnic, geographical, and administrative lines and engage a large number of youth in community improvement activities in each host town. Priority will be given to applications which engage youth who have not yet had access to programs funded by the U.S. government. Detailed budget should be expressed in USD, with a maximum amount of $20,000.

Sports Diplomacy Program for Jammu and Kashmir - 0 views

    The Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Embassy in New Delhi (PAS New Delhi) seeks proposals for a project entitled "Leadership through Sports for Jammu and Kashmir." The project, a week-long workshop for local community leaders in the sports field from Jammu and Kashmir, will share best practices on how to build sports and leadership programs in underserved communities. The grantee will identify five American sports mentors/coaches (three female and two male) and bring them to New Delhi to implement the week-long program for 20 local coaches, school administrators, sports association leaders and sports administrators, at least half of whom are female. The American sports mentors/coaches should have experience working with disadvantaged/underserved populations on sports programs, and will focus on building capacity in sports and leadership program development. Upon completion of the week-long workshop, the grantee will organize and oversee a six-month virtual mentoring program between the American sports mentors/coaches and the participants.     The Office of Citizen Exchanges, Youth Programs Division, of the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) announces an open competition for a cooperative agreement to manage the FY 2018 Organizational Components of the Future Leaders Exchange (FLEX) program. The FLEX program addresses U.S. foreign policy goals by supporting a stable, more peaceful world with less conflict and more common ground. The FLEX program provides scholarships for high school students from Europe and Asia to live and study in the United States for an academic year. In turn, these students expose U.S. citizens to the culture, traditions, and lifestyles of people of their home countries. U.S. public and private non-profit organizations meeting the provisions described in Internal Revenue Code section 26 USC 501(c)(3) are invited to submit proposals to: (1) recruit and select international students from designated countries; (2) provide orientations for all participants; (3) coordinate travel and logistics; (4) liaise with ECA, U.S. embassies and natural families; (5) provide advice and counseling for students and placement organizations (POs); (6) provide two Civic Education Workshops; and (7) provide activities, events and follow-on alumni programs that promote civil society, leadership, and mutual understanding. ECA intends to award one cooperative agreement for approximately $11,841,240, pending the availability of FY 2018 funds.
