Bloom's Taxonomy - Emerging Perspectives on Learning, Teaching and Technology - 0 views

  • Discussions during the 1948 Convention of the American Psychological Association led Bloom to spearhead a group of educators who eventually undertook the ambitious task of classifying educational goals and objectives. Their intent was to develop a method of classification for thinking behaviors that were believed to be important in the processes of learning. Eventually, this framework became a taxonomy of three domains: The cognitive - knowledge based domain, consisting of six levels The affective - attitudinal based domain, consisting of five levels, and The psychomotor - skills based domain, consisting of six levels.

» Get to Know Your Learners (And Avoid These Pitfalls) The Rapid eLearning Blog - 0 views

  • That event was one of my best learning experiences.  It reinforced the need to meet with learners and understand their world.  It also opened my eyes to think beyond the obvious.  A big pitfall is that we tend to rest in the familiar. Without the time on the floor, I would have built a functional course, but missed the opportunity to make real improvements on their performance.

How to Say Nothing in 500 Words (A Lesson on Writing) - 0 views

  • It goes without saying that learning how to create compelling content is a part of one’s success as an online publisher. Reading widely and deeply while consistently honing your writing skills helps a great deal in bettering your prose. Sometimes, it doesn’t hurt to read a few stylebooks/essays on writing by professional teachers or authors. One of these essays on writing is Paul McHenry Roberts’s How to Say Nothing in Five Hundred Words, a brilliantly humorous introduction on writing college compositions. I discovered this essay today and read though easily in one sitting, possibly because it was so well-written and entertaining. It’s a perfect example of the writing techniques listed within.

Seth Godin's business clichés - 0 views

  •
Seth Godin remembers learning new words and phrases by the barrelful in business school. As a business-book writer, he's exposed to them all the time. Many of them are actually quite useful, because they give you precise words to describe things that would be difficult to communicate otherwise. For example, telling someone that a particular hedge fund is "highly leveraged" is a lot easier than saying, "They've borrowed a lot of money in order to speculate and multiply their positive returns using other people's money." On the other hand, ....

Enterprise Prediction Markets according to Consensus Point and two of its Fortune-500 c... - 0 views

  • Perry shared many lessons learned, and chose to focus people’s attention on the pitfalls of PMs (in addition to their power). Implementation can take a long time. It’s a change management process. Asking the wrong questions can be a killer, but often the right questions emerge after trading begins. Poor incentive structures is the #1 killer, according to Perry. Don’t suppress the reputational incentives associated with PMs. Be explicit and transparent about how traders will be compensated.

web as a game - 0 views

  • Some websites are designed to be games. Most are not. But have you ever heard people, or found yourself addicted to Digg, YouTube, or Facebook? Have you ever wondered why? Well, it’s because they are games, at least partially! Officially, they are social networks, news aggregators, etc. and not designed as game sites like Second Life is. However, these sites contain all factors of a game. They are not only useful, but also entertaining. You can manage relationships with friends, gain recognition, and even set trends. This book will describe the view of websites as games in general, and then study Digg, YouTube and Facebook as specific case studies. It will show you what the goals of these websites are, how to play, and how to win. Applying the game perspective to more areas of the web, users may find other hidden games and can thus use those sites with greater efficiency. Web designers also can learn from this perspective and use the game design to achieve better results.

  • Imagine going to your Doctor because you’re not feeling well. Before you’ve had a chance to describe your symptoms, the doctor writes out a prescription and says “take two of these three times and day, and call me in a week.” “But – I haven’t told you what’s wrong,” you say. “How do I know this will help me?”“Why wouldn’t it” says the doctor. “It worked for last two patients”

Narrowing Gap between Face-to-Face and Online Presentations : eLearning Technology - 0 views

  • What struck me is how the gap is narrowing between face-to-face and online events. You could usually rely on a fully attentive audience face-to-face while bemoaning the ease with which multitasking occurs online. The reality is that the same phenomenon is now occurring in each setting.

Why You Need Three Different Types of Value Proposition - BetterManagement.com - 0 views

  • Segment-based. In the epiphany and awareness stages, with minimal client information, the value proposition is defined to address the needs of a specific market segment. The segment-based value proposition is not designed to sell. The purpose of the statement is to get potential buyers to take action to learn more. That action can be going to your Website, picking up the phone to call you, attending a Webinar, or reading a white paper. Role-based. Moving from the awareness to interest stages, the value propositions become more targeted to subsegments and specific roles within organizations, such as CIOs, sales management, or business unit leaders. Such individuals often have different perceptions of value based on their roles and responsibilities. Role-based value propositions resonate when they address the specific business needs of the people or personas the company is trying to reach. They require a deeper level of understanding of the like-minded groups of people the company is communicating with, including their needs, desires, motivations, expectations, goals, fears, skills, and biases. Client-specific. These value propositions are designed to move prospects from interest to confidence or buy mode. The client-specific value proposition addresses the particular needs of actual, not archetypal, clients. However, knowing the client goes beyond defining the decision influencers’ and makers’ titles and roles. It also means knowing the client’s educational background, personal pursuits, association memberships, business goals and how they are measured, the client’s definition of success, and, of course, the client’s pain points.
