CHIP Project Homepage - 0 views

Based on the semantically-enriched data model, we have implemented three different components/tools in the CHIP demonstrator: Artwork Recommender, web-based virtual Tour Wizard and PDA-based Mobile Tour. (i) Artwork Recommender. a Web-based rating dialog for artworks/topics to build a user profile, based on semantics-driven recommendations. (ii) Tour Wizard. a Web-based tool using the user pro le to generate (semi)automatically personalization virtual museum tours for each user. (iii) Mobile Tour. a PDA-based tool to map virtual tours into the physical museum space with constraints; to give guidance to users and to synchronize the user profile on the web and in the PDA. prsented at Museum and the Web 2008: http://www.archimuse.com/mw2008/abstracts/prg_335001703.html

User participation Focus on the 'critical success factors' for user participation: what are the conditions, do's or don'ts, to make user participation really work? Are there any crucial or determining (external and internal) factors to take into account when developing user involvement strategies?"

The Face-Off: Mobile Web (and not Apps) are the Right Choice | MobileActive.org - 1 views

  •
This article provides an overview for anyone producing content about these two options. We argue that most content producers should focus on the mobile web, especially if they want to make their content more widely accessible. Mobile apps may be appropriate if looking for new sources of revenue, or deep user engagement, but many other factors make the mobile web the more sensible platform for most content producers.

EtherPad Responds to User Demand: Service Restored - 0 views

  •
Just yesterday we learned that Google acquired AppJet, the company behind EtherPad, a real-time collaboration word processor. ... "- We are working with the Google Wave team to get all EtherPad users a chance to try out the Google Wave preview within the next couple of weeks. We do realize (as does the Google Wave team) that Wave doesn't yet have all the functionality you rely on, and isn't yet as mature as EtherPad."

A List Apart: Articles: Strategic Content Management - 0 views

  •
Trying to fix an organization's content problems by installing a content management system (CMS) is like trying to save a marriage by booking a holiday. We know that a successful web project needs a content strategy-but when it comes to the CMS, we stop thinking strategically. Despite all the talk about user-centered design, we rarely consider the user experience of the editorial team-the people who implement the content strategy. We don't design a CMS, we install it.

"We've been keeping an eye on super-simple feed reader Lazyfeed for about six months now. Cofounder and CEO Ethan Gahng wrote us today to let us know about some exciting changes users will see tomorrow morning when the startup launches Lazyfeed Squared, the second version of the product. "In our previous version," he said, "users had to click on updated topics to see what's inside. That is not lazy. And it wasn't fun enough. With the new version, it's not just the topics that update - each topic has its own live updates which show the latest headlines along with images." "

"What can all of this tell us? Museums are creating YouTube videos but only a small number of users watch them and an even smaller number interact with them. YouTube's front page shows us their most popular videos. Users are catching up on TV programmes, getting their celebrity fixes and watching those random funnies."

Twitter + Art = Twart? - 0 views

  •
I read with interest this week an article by Ruth Jamieson in The Guardian extolling the virtues of Twitter for us visual arts types. It largely confirmed what I've known for nearly a year now: Twitter is a great way to stay virtually connected with friends and professional contacts. It's fast, painless and has a Zen-like 140-character limit that disallows users from overwhelming other users with lengthy monologues.

How Twitter Use Has Changed, From 2009 to 2010 - 1 views

  •
It's been a good year for Twitter, and not merely because the company announced yesterday it has secured another huge round of funding. The microblogging platform has grown by over 100 million users this year and expanded its staff from 130 to 350 people. And it's rolled out major redesigns and improvements to its site, mobile apps and APIs.

SOCIAL IMPACT - CELEBRITY VS. INFLUENCER - ECHTZEITGEIST - 0 views

  •
Was hier gemessen werden muss geht nämlich viel tiefer: Der "Social Impact".
