How this influenced my thinking: I was able to get a more in depth understanding of Bronfenbrenners theory on influential factors that determines a child developmental outcomes. Title: Bronfenbrenner's Theory- youtube (video) Author: kleinen2012 Date Published: April 8, 2009 Why Relevant and Summary: This video was produced by a Human Development student, and gives a great summary of Brofenbrenner's model, along with sharing clear and relevant diagrams and definitions. For the audio-visual learner, this is a great resource for gaining basic understanding of Brofenbrenner's Ecological Model. How This Influenced My Thinking: It helped me, as an auditory learner to better absorb the information. Credibility of Source: 8; It lists her references at the end of the video.

Title: Bronfenbrenner Ecological Theory Author: Yukti Ahuja Date Published: No date listed, but it was written after 2005 because that was the date on several of the sources listed in the paper Why Relevant: It talks about how we can use Bronfenbrenner's theory to look at how we are raising children in today's world where parents may be busier and have less time to be involved in their children's lives. This lack of contact greatly affects a child's microsystem How this influenced my thinking: It made me think about the changes that have happened over the last few decades and how they have affected the lives of children that are being born in today's world. Credibility: Not sure about the credibility, there was no specific publisher listed, but the paper was well written, thoughtful and contained good sources in it.

Title: Bronfenbrenner's Ecologycal Systems Theory Author:Dede Paquete and John Ryan Date Published: July 12, 2001 Why Relevant and Summary: It gives a great overview of his theory and also how it is applied in practice, talks about its strength and weaknesses. After this general presentation breaks it down to its components and starts analyzing each layer of the ecological systems theory starting with the body and the brain of the child, which reflects to Bronfenbrenner's revised name for his theory from ecological to bioecological. Even though the material is a little bit old, it is definitely not outdated; it taps on important issues going on in our schools especially with the preschool system that serves underprivileged children. How This Influenced My Thinking: This has increased my understanding of the Bronfenbrenner's theory because the article provided examples. Credibility of Source: only thing that was provided was the article provided a list a reference page for quotes they cited.

How This Influenced My Thinking: It gave a good definition of it and the picture if fun. Credibility of Source: It had resources from the book we are using.

Title: Bronfenbrenner's Ecological Systems Theory Author: Dede Paquette and John Ryan Date Published: 2001 Why Relevant and Summary: Explains Bronfenbrenner's theory and connects it to modern child development and compares this to child development when the economy was more industrial, less technological. It also explains Bronfenbrenner's concerns with our technological world. The 5th page looks at the human body as a part of a person's microsystem, which was fascinating, especially since the textbook doesn't seem to consider this. How This Influenced My Thinking: Introduced the idea of the human body as being part of the microsystem - new to me! Also, I learned that this model can play a big role in influencing public policies, which is refreshing because as a student, it's easy to get caught up in this thinking that the classroom stuff isn't relevant or doesn't easily apply to the real world… but it can! Credibility of Source: Pretty good - the work cites a lot of educational resources, and I read the company profile, which seems to be run by qualified people.

How This Influenced My Thinking: It hasn't particularly influenced my thinking but has given a better understanding of how the theory applies. Credibility of Source: Good- (.edu website)

As well as stating what the theory is, the site also goes over in detail, all the different systems associated with Bronfenbrenner's ecological theory. There is also an illustration with various terms that provides links to sites that explain the implications of each theory. How it influenced my thinking: This site influenced my thinking in a positive way because it broke down what each system was, what it entailed, and gave examples of what was being discussed. Credibility of source: The source is very credible and is riddled with citations and works cited pages. The link to it also ends in usd.edu which means it is probably a site made by colleges for colleges.

Title: Readings on the Development of Children Author: Mary Gauvain and Michael Cole Date Published: 2005 Why Relevant and Summary: This is relevant because it talks about the development of children and how Bronfenbrenner's theory applies to our lives. It goes through just like our human development book does and gives different examples so that you can better understand how each level applies to our life if we didn't understand it from our book. How This Influenced My Thinking: It doesn't influence my thinking because it gives the same information. What it does do is help me to understand the development in my own life and how I can better influence my children's development with this theory. Credibility of Source: Has some resources from Bronfenbrenner's books and articles. They are cited in this book.

It gives an example of each system and it also talks about a personal experience of how a teacher relates the ecological system to her classroom How This Influenced My Thinking: It influenced my thinks by giving me a better understanding of the concept and it gives good examples Credibility of Source: Not too sure about the credibility because it doesn't say where its comes from

How This Influenced My Thinking: Encouraged a recognition of the presence of Bronfenbrenner's ecological systems in my own life and in my own experiences. Credibility of Source: BSU

Title: Urie Bronfenbrenner and Child Development Author: Angela Oswalt Date Published: Jan. 17, 2008 Why Relevant and Summary: This page is relevant because it speaks of Urie Bronfenbrenner's model of development. The main focus is on child and adolescent development. It compares Urie's model to other theoris of development. This is a great starting point if you want to learn about Freud, Erikson, Piaget, Kohlberg and Urie Bronfenbrenner. How This Influenced My Thinking: From this model I understood that how a child develops is influenced from the systems in the child's life. However, when taking microsystem into consideration and the important people in the child's life, the way the child acts towards the microsystem (people) also influences how those people will act towards the child. Credibility of Source: No citations or references. Came from a mental help site.

How This Influenced My Thinking: This entry helped me understand the systems a bit better. Credibility of Source: its a 17 page document covring many ideas and theories, it has many links connected to it.

Author: Chaplinspeaks Date Published: March 24, 2012 Why relevant and Summary: While not necessarily referring to Bronfenbrenner's model specifically, she hit all of the same points as used in his model. She went into much more depth explaining not only the influences but also why it is likely to influence a child's development. How This Influenced My Thinking: This article didn't influence my thinking one way or another, because I found the same information in our textbook, but it did help me to understand the model in more depth because she thoroughly explained everything. Credibility of Source: I feel like this source is very credible. She has a MSW and seems to be very knowledgable and has done her research.

The analogies and summaries were helpful to understand the ecological systems better. How This Influenced My Thinking: This journal helped me understand everything a little bit better to where I can think more. I was able to actually think about what I wanted to say and how to say it without being blocked from the unknowns. Credibility of Source: This journal pulled information from other resources and cited them. So I believe it is credible.

Title: Babies Recognize Mom's voice from the Womb Author: Lee Dye Published: May 22 2013 Why relevant and Summary: Great informative ABC article about research being done in China and Canada which show similar results on babies recognizing mothers's voice. How this influenced my thinking: I am very interested in brain development and learning. I am excited about researching learning and brain development in the womb. Credibility of source: very credible news station and research is cited.

Title- Piaget's theory of cognitive development author- Many published- 2012 why relevant- This webpage talks about Piaget's theory, assimilation and accommodation, and breaks down all the motor stages. how influenced-Although i did view other websites to learn more about Piaget's theory of development. I felt that wiki broke it down in a way that not many other sites did. I was able to see what was going on in each stage of development, and it even went further into explaining the substages and what they encompass. credibility of source- I checked what wiki was telling me against other, more credible websites so i feel that the info i got was credible, even if the site itself has a bad rep for being credible :)
