Title: Peer Relations in Middle Childhood Author: Blume & Zembar Date: n.d. Why Relevant and Summary: This article explains how friendship is important in middle childhood. Whether or not someone likes you or dislikes you can really make or break a person. Friends provide all the needs the one self can use at that time and in the future. For one of them being a need for survival because in middle childhood friendship is based on people liking you which then determines their popularity status. Also discussed in this article is the individual need for success, power, status, approval, autonomy, and etc. It also expresses the concerns of rejection in children at this age and it affects them. How this influenced my thinking: This helped my understanding of why it is important for us to connect with others and increase our social skills. I have found a new understanding of the word friendship from this article. Credibility: Seems credible because they cited quotes.

The habit forming patters of socialization developed at an early age impact how we relate to people as we become older. How this influenced my thinking: I was not aware how big of an impact peer relations/friendships in middle childhood had on adults. Credibility of source: seems very credible. Why Relevant and Summary: This article is very relevant because it discusses what learning takes place within the womb and actually gives a great example of what a mother can do while she is pregnant to help this learning. Title: Fetal sensitivities to properties of maternal speech and language Author: B.S. Kisilevsky et al Date: 18 May 2008 Why Relevant and Summary: This article summarizes a study that shows that infants are able to distinguish their mother's voice from stranger females and from father's voice. This study also indicated that infants can distinguish between their native language and non-native languages. How this influenced my thinking: We hear a lot of stories of infants immediately calming down or ceasing to cry when they hear a familiar voice, so it seems only natural that infants can recognize mother's voice from other female voices. It is also interesting that infants can distinguish between their native language and foreign languages. Credibility of Source: This study was published in Infant Behavior and Development, a journal. It seems highly credible.

How This Influenced My Thinking: It made me realize popularity is actually a huge thing with fourth graders Credibility of Source: No way to tell but it seems like a very credible source!

Very useful information, background and other wise. How This Influenced My Thinking: Didn't, but it was very interesting to read some of the background information . Credibility of Source: Credible, based on common sense as well as references from history.

Title: Teen Pregnancy Statistics Author: No Author Date Published: 2013 Why relevant and summary: These statistics are very astonishing. It gives statistics of teenage pregnancies, sexual intercourse, marriage. How it affected my thinking: These statistics blew me away. I honestly though there were not that many teenagers having sex at an early age, I thought many teenagers had their first intercourse when they were at least 17 years old, but according to the statistics there are teenagers whom are having intercourse at the young age of 12 and 3. Credibility: seems credible since its from a teen website.

How this influenced my thinking: This information strengthened my awareness about how important it is for  a caregiver to take care of themselves. Credibility of source: this information supported previous information and sources I was already familiar with.

How This Influenced My Thinking: This influenced my thinking because of its high credibility and target audience. It is in a womenshealth website reviews by healthcare professionals so it is taken into account for many women who are about to have a child or are thinking of having a child. It really shined a light for me in regards to consumig folic acid during pregnancy and how important it is for preventing birth defects. Credibility of Source: High its a .gov

Title:Prenatal development Author: Many Date Published:ND Why Relevant and Summary: This website was tremendously helpful when i was writing my paper on prenatal development. Not only does it take you through each stage of development and tell you what is happening, but it also discusses prenatal care. Pictures and diagrams are drawn to help you better understand what the site is discussing. It also describes some congenital and maternal derived abnormalities as well. How This Influenced My Thinking: This influenced my thinking by helping me understand what exactly goes on during each stage of pregnancy. I also never knew that abnormalities could be congenital or maternally derived so that was also interesting. Credibility of Source: The source has many citations and is from the encyclopedia of children's health so i assume its pretty credible
