This program is designed to fund the implementation of innovative digital-humanities projects that have successfully completed a start-up phase and demonstrated their value to the field. These projects help us better understand the central problems in the humanities, and they also raise new questions in the humanities which help develop new digital applications and approaches for the use in the humanities. The digital humanities Implementation Grants programs seeks to identify projects that have successfully completed their startup phase and are well positioned to have a major impact. These grants involve, Implementation of computationally bases methods or techniques for humanities research; implantation of new digital tools for use in humanities research; implementation of new digital tools for use in humanities research, public programming, or educational settings; efforts to ensure the completion and long-term sustainability of existing digital resources; studies that examine the philosophical or practical implications of the use of emerging technologies in specific fields or disciplines of the humanties, or in interdisciplinary collaborations involving several fields or disciplines; or implementation of new digital modes of scholarly communication that facilitate peer review, collaboration, or the dissemination of humanities scholarship for various audiences.

The NEH's Office of Digital Humanities announces 5 institutes that will receive government grants to further their research. Included are the University of Texas at Austin's HiPSTAS, the University of Maryland, College Park's Digital Humanities Data Curation, George Mason University's Another Week | Another Tool - A Digital Humanities Barnraising, Folger Shakespeare Library's Folger Shakespeare Library Summer Institute for Advanced Topics in the Digital Humanities: "Early Modern Digital Agendas," and Arkansas State University's Humanities Heritage 3D Visualization: Theory and Practice.

This article highlights three large uncertainties of the Micha Cardenas about the digital humanities: is queer new media rare or is analysis of it rare, if there is something "conservative, even sellable" that is present in the digital humanities, and can queer theory, new media, or the digital humanities "disturb hegemonic systems." Although the article does not answer any of these questions, it discusses the history of Queer Theory as "hip, trendy," and its potential reflection in the digital humanities. These questions also arise out of a concern that discussions in digital humanities, particularly CCS, "can run down a road that is very conservative."

Digital Humanities Now is a website that showcases the scholarship and news in the world of digital humanities. The website's mission statement says that they hope to accomplish that "through a process of aggregation, discovery, curation, and review." Here, people can come and view what is happening in the field of digital humanities and get caught up on current events.

This article comments on common ideas found in many definitions of digital humanities. The author uses the collaborative aspects of digital humanities to draw connections to a broader description of what he calls the open humanities. This new distinction includes the "aspects of the humanities aimed at democratizing production and consumption of humanities research," but excludes the purely digital elements of the digital humanities, such as code, markup, and hardware.

This article focuses on the limitations of the traditional method of studying literature. David Smith, assistant professor of computational social science in the College of Computer and Information Science, and Ryan Cordell, assistant professor of English and digital humanities in the College of Social Sciences and Humanities at Northeastern University hope to mend the gaps and limitations to the traditional method by encouaging a digitial humanities project for their school.

Jouranlist Steve Kolowich reveals how digital humanities can help education, especially through undergraduate work. He explains that most undergraduate students are unaware of how to use digital tools in their research and the best way to confront this issue is to teach them to work with metadata and design databases. Teaching digital humanities is a fundamental shift as well, because grading items such as crowdsourcing projects is quite different to grading a multiple question exam. Like many other professors in the digital humanities field, Professor Laura McGrane believes if the job is done right, students will be able to conquer research in a more knowledgeable way.

The author of this posting is informing the website users of the symposium coming up hosted by the Miami University Libraries entitled "What is Digital Humanities?" Symposium, sponsored by the MU Humanities Center, on October 23rd from 3:00-6:30pm in King 320. The posting explains that "this symposium will be a chance for faculty, graduate students, and librarians to think about the implications, practices, and uses of Digital Humanities and digital collections."

This webliography's purpose is to give a brief overview of the history, methods, and uses of Digital Humanities for those newly entering or interested in the field. Gary Price posted the link to infodocket for digital humanities researchers to be able to use to find more resources for themselves to use in their research.

This site is designed to organize the writings and events that are done by Alan Liu. Alan Liu is an English Professor at the University of California is Santa Barbara. His new media projects have been centered around digital humanities and the progress that it is making in technology. Other projects have focused on the cultural implications of humanities computing and our society as an information technology society. Also, Alan Liu is the founder on the UC New Media Directory that handles text encoding and human computer technology.

There seems to be an undercover snobbery situation when it comes to individuals in the academic world placing a title on themselves. For example, one may prefer to be known as a philosopher rather than a humanist. Not knowing what exactly falls into the term "humanities" is not new.

This is the main page of UK-based Digital Humanities project DIGHUMLAB. This project's purpose is to "contribute to skills development, internationalisation and innovation through a national focus on Digital Humanities in research, education and knowledge transfer." In other words, it is a project designed to further the importance of research in the Digital Humanities field through the development of a variety of new methods for use in the Digital Humanities.

This article on the National Endowment for the Humanities website contains information on a project directors meeting for the Digital Humanities department that was open to the public. The meeting took place in Washington, D.C. on September 20th, and it included multiple aspects such as lightning-talks and roundtable discussions with librarians, researchers, and funding organizations.

This blog questions its followers how they think libraries can support digital humanities. One alt-ac librarian named Jennifer Vinopal describes the roles she takes in digital humanities while working in the library. Her goal is to improve how scholars can use technology for research, learning, and teaching. She is curious of ways librarians can contribute to digital humanities such as having wider access to collections.

This news article outlines the ideas of Tri-Co professors who are setting out to change the way that the world and general public views the humanities. To do so, they have set up a new initiative, founded by Bryn Mawr English Professor Katherine Rowe in 2010, called the Tri-Co Digital Humanities (TCDH). TCDH will support independent fellowships and give grants to students, faculty, and staff for humanities-based inquiry and using new technology.

The topic of Digital Humanities is discussed as a new teaching a research method. Since it is has been newly founded many people find it difficult to use and leave it to scholars and researchers to do most of the work. There are six factors that go into researching humanities that have been found also in researching sciences: publication practices, data, research methods, collaboration, incentives, and learning. By using this process one can easily understand Digital Humanities.

The main topic of this article is criticism. Alan Liu posses the question where is cultural criticism and dies it even exist. Three ideas surround this: digital humanists have not created an effective critical discourse around their work, more rubrics need to be established and because of the uniqueness of the field a new kind of peer review should be utilized.
