The Initiative for Digital Humanities, Media, and Culture has received funding as part of the Academic Masters Program. There are three goals presented in the mission statement: 1) To global affect the digital world through multiple content areas 2) Having it easily accessible 3) To utilize TAMU's resources to the best of their capabilities.

This article discusses Microsoft's departure, for lack of potential business, from the digitization of books. He argues that Google's vast lead in this area will allow them to continue to dominate it with its competitors failing to find sufficient outside funding. The article concludes hoping for a joint funding by leading institutions like Harvard, Yale, and Princeton.

Bethany Nowviskie's article proposes an overhaul of modern graduate studies by replacing aging practices and methods of education with more modern and technology appropriate forms of education. One of Nowviskie's key points of criticism it that many of these more traditional forms of graduate education are producing humanities PhDs who do not fully understand how modern universities work and are impacted by the outside world. Nowviskie's main proposal for beginning to replace these aging methods is through the cooperation of funding agencies and respected humanities organizations, ones with a good history of inter-institutional and interdisciplinary collaboration, to utilize grants to reshape graduate studies.

This program is designed to fund the implementation of innovative digital-humanities projects that have successfully completed a start-up phase and demonstrated their value to the field. These projects help us better understand the central problems in the humanities, and they also raise new questions in the humanities which help develop new digital applications and approaches for the use in the humanities. The digital humanities Implementation Grants programs seeks to identify projects that have successfully completed their startup phase and are well positioned to have a major impact. These grants involve, Implementation of computationally bases methods or techniques for humanities research; implantation of new digital tools for use in humanities research; implementation of new digital tools for use in humanities research, public programming, or educational settings; efforts to ensure the completion and long-term sustainability of existing digital resources; studies that examine the philosophical or practical implications of the use of emerging technologies in specific fields or disciplines of the humanties, or in interdisciplinary collaborations involving several fields or disciplines; or implementation of new digital modes of scholarly communication that facilitate peer review, collaboration, or the dissemination of humanities scholarship for various audiences.

Sean Sherlocks speech at Digital Repository of Ireland, and international workshop, addressed the funding provided by sponsors. He states that they will use the funds to create multiple PhD positions specifically allocated towards the digital humanities and it's future in Ireland. He believes that these positions, and all research in digital humanities, well aid Ireland in becoming socially and economically an international powerhouse. He believes that work in the digital humanities will help create jobs, promote economic stability, and will put Ireland in the forefront of education.

The Sloan Foundation focuses its grants in science, technology, and economic institutions that they believe will improve American quality of life. Many of the open-access journals and projects that the Sloan foundation provides grants for fall under the initiatives for Information Technology and the Dissemination of Knowledge. The initiative look for projects that expand public access to research journals, archives, and books online.

OKC is a collaborative effort to "make the record of human knowledge" inclusive. They plan to do this by digitizing printed or physical artifacts in libraries and creating an online collection. It talks about the issues libraries face, such as funding for digitization, and attempt to rectify the issues with the libraries. This page also includes projects OKC suports and is contributing to, such as the Wikipedia Gateway Project. It promotes collaboration between libraries and cultural centers and advocates for the smaller 'non-commercial players.' Their greatest interest concerning technology, is to attempt to advance and integrate existing technical architecture.

This article on the National Endowment for the Humanities website contains information on a project directors meeting for the Digital Humanities department that was open to the public. The meeting took place in Washington, D.C. on September 20th, and it included multiple aspects such as lightning-talks and roundtable discussions with librarians, researchers, and funding organizations.

The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation has generously funded the MONK Project. MONK is a digital landscaped designed to help humanities scholars in their research and analysis of text. This projects is publicly available with texts from Indiana University, University of Virginia, Martin Mueller at Northwestern University, and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

This webliography provides history and general information on the origin and growth of the field of Digital Humanities, including the Day of DH 2012. It provides many different organizations involved in Digital Humanities, and sorts them according to associations, collaboratories, and funding. There are also links and explanations on tutorials that teach researchers how to go about working in digital humanities, including tutorials on coding. The webliography comes to a close with information on conferences and institutions in the field of DH for researchers to find further information from.

Peter Gatkouth an immigration specialist working with the work relief in high point North Carolina helps legal immigrants stay connected with their families. This particular project was sponsored by the Wake Forest University and funded in part by the Humanities council. The Humanities council uses digital material to encourage a new approach to understanding of immigration, with a renewed focus on the lives and experiences of those who are already here. The site includes an interactive world map, which gives a geographic lens to the issue of immigration. It also incorporates a crowd sourcing component where users can upload their own content, their own stories of movement and migration.

Journalist Angelyn Irvin of the Daily Pennsylvanian covers a story about the Digital Humanities Forum (DHF) and about digital humanities as a general topic. One main goal of DHF is to essentially produce a better way to share information between those in technology and scholarly work. This forum is still in it's beginning phases, funded by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation until the year 2014. The people helping funnel this project are professors, scholars, and students.

In this article Lee Bessette discusses the challenges that teachers find in digital Humanities. He believes, that most contingent faculty already feel, to a certain extaint, like super-humanists, expected to be able to teach just about any sub-area of their field at the drop pf a hat. Adding DH to the overlaod can become a burdern to those teachers who are not on tenure and can not afford to learn DH because of time, research, and funding.

This article introduces the DIGHUMLAB in Denmark. This laboratory is a collaboration between for major Danish universities and will make it much easier for researchers and students to search for and analyze material across research fields, national boundaries, and media. It will increase international collaboration of Danish scholars with the rest of the world for the sake of the humanities. The grant-funded project will help raise public awareness and interest in humanities research.
