Further, the multimedia learning layer of the model has to be revisited and extended. In fact, the focus of the future research will be on studying the usefulness of haptic technology in multimedia learning environments. The use of haptic technology can simulate cutaneous and kinesthetic sensations so that learning materials not only look but also feel (McGee, 2002) and may provide a means to reduce external cognitive load in visually and auditorily demanding learning materials (M�nch & Dillmann, 1997). Thus, I want to propose that in the future we should consider supplementing the multimedia learning layer with the haptic channel in order to be able to design more effective, engaging, and realistic learning materials

What it does: This has a wealth of resources to learn "how to" do a number of tasks. Why this one? In providing pre-training for certain tasks, why re-invent the wheel? Why create a new "how to use xyz" when that video probably already exists on Teachertube. Youtube is also an option, but I prefer Teachertube since it is more teacher/education oriented. Consequently, the content, flow, and logic may be more educationally sound than the general public who posts on YouTube. Learning benefit: For essential learning, learners have a large database of short training sessions and can learn many essential basics for pre-training needs. -
Teacher Tube is a online sharing site that hosts video, photographs, documents and audio files that cater to an educational environment. The format is much like You Tube. Files can be easily shared/embedded on a variety of sites. Once you investigate these resources for the content and quality that you are searching, they prove to be a great way to promote essential learning. TeacherTube is a video sharing website with the same features as YouTube, but for educators. Unfortunately, in many school districts by content filtering systems, YouTube has been blocked due to some of the content that can be accessed on the site. TeacherTube allows educators and students the ability to access various educational videos, documents, blogs, groups, photos, and audio to utilize and share in the classroom while at school. Many of these educational resources can be used as pre-training materials to a workshop, such as with my workshop on storytelling; I would show a short video about what PBL means as a means to introduce participants to the concept and to explain that they will be using PBL to design their own storytelling lesson. TeacherTube is much easier to access while at school than YouTube, which is why I feel TeacherTube is a better working tool for educators to use rather than attempting to access YouTube videos.

Teachers will use this tool to practice developing a short 3-slide story on the first 3 days of school. Most videos are simple to upload though uploading power points are a bit more tricky. This video sharing site allows the presentor to share information that is necessary for the course participants to know before the course begins. I like this as a pretraining site because it is easy to access in most locations. However most K-12 educational facilities block this site due to some inappropraite submissions. Course participants must make sure that they are able to access You Tube prior to the beginning of the course. -

This site is a great tool for uploading and sharing videos. Youtube is industry standard for video sharing. It is reliable, offers multiple formats uploads and offers privacy. I would recommend that teachers use this site to upload final dance video projects or use Just Dance videos on the site to have student analyze other dancers. I would not recommend comments unless the user approved them first.

My multimedia project title is is How to Utilize Multimedia to Create Effective Instructions. The Value of Multimedia in Learning written by Shank (2005) outlined the benefits of multimedia in learning. A well-designed multimedia presentation helps learners build more accurate and effective mental models than they do from text alone. Shephard synthesized studies showing potential benefits of well-designed multimedia, including: (Shephard, (n.d) as cited in Shank 2005, p.4). A well constructed multimedia presentation can definitively be identified as learner-centered approach to learning. Mayer (2008) also describes potential benefits of multimedia. Given that humans possess visual and auditory information processing capabilities, multimedia, he explains, takes advantage of both capabilities at once. In addition, these two channels process information quite differently, so the combination of multiple media is useful in calling on the capabilities of both systems. This site allows you to generate interactive mindmaps that help organize thoughts and ideas into great visual representations. It is easy to create, to meanipulate, and to edit. You are able to collaborate on the map with others and you canmake the map public or share with select audiences. -
I recently discovered Spinscape, which is a mindmapping webtool that can be used to create a graphic organizer. It has so many features wrapped into one application. Some of the features that I would find helpful in using Spinscape are the ability to insert links, widgets to post Youtube video, notes, attachments and even tasks for managing a project. Spinscape also offers numerous different views such as the classic bubbles, compact, wiki and farmland styles. The ability to put in tags also makes this a useful tool to help locate information. This definitely is a more visually appealing and more multi-functional than some of the other mindmaps that I have seen, but it is significantly more difficult to navigate and use. It exports the files in multiple formats (HTML, PDF, Word), but not in JPEG. I would really love to use this tool for my presentation, but I will probably not because of the cost. I have been using my 7 day trial membership to explore and it will be expired by the time that I do my workshop.
